“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Amazon Studios. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and promotional item to thank me for participating.”
My two girls readily enjoy and love watching educational and entertaining cartoon shows from the likes of Disney Jr. and Nick Jr., on our TV, as well as on my iPad, as well. Not going to lie, I love these shows for a myriad of reasons, including the peace and quiet, they allow me to get some much needed work done around the house, too!
Anyway I was recently e-mailed by Mom Central Consulting about reviewing and viewing a brand new educational cartoon from Amazon Studios, called Tumble Leaf with them.
I knew right away my kids would be thrilled to do this and signed up, because I had been interested also in seeing what kids of shows Amazon Prime offered for us as a family.
Lo and behold, we were selected and was even sent a whole DVD for us to watch together..
When the DVD arrived, my kids immediately requested to watch it together. Added bonus, it was Memorial Day weekend, but we were experiencing some rainy weather mixed with Thunderstorms. Perfect indoor, TV viewing weather!
So, I did what any good mom would do and popped the DVD in our DVD player to find that the show itself was centered around Fig, a small blue fox that lives in a wrecked schooner ship by the sea and his journeys through a whimsical land filled with adventure and friendship with his best friend Stick, a quirky caterpillar. Together they discover adventure, friendship and love around every bend.
The series was created by Drew Hodges to help preschoolers learn science through play. I honestly, loved that the show while being engaging with these adorable characters, also was indeed educational and teaching my girls that learning can be fun, as well (The teacher in me loves shows like this for both the educational value and the parent in me loves engaging part, too).
I have to admit my girls watched the DVD with me the first time, but now it has also become a favorite of theirs and they even request me to play it for them daily, because they love Ginko the crab, who begins each episode pulling a random item from the ocean, such as coins, flashlight, sponge and more, which as stated above is the basis of the show where Fig slides down to the Finding Place that Geiko placed the item to retrieve it and thus forming that show’s adventure.
When asked though why they love Geiko, Emma says, “He is funny”. Quite simple he is the comic relief of the show. And when I asked Lily why she loves this show she told me because she loves the music and even tried to imitate the beats and such for me.

I love that this show is teaching children about discovering things around them. Kids at this age are extremely curious and absorb information like a sponge. The characters are also cute too!
