“Mommy, I want to build with more Lego blocks?”
On any given day, my girls will beg me to play with their lego blocks, but keep asking me if we can get more.
Anyone that has kids and has bought Legos knows just how expensive Legos can run for each full kit.
They only have one set each right now, but to be honest, each are missing a few pieces here and there, because it is sad to say that as much as my girls love to play with their Legos, they also aren’t the cleanest of all kids when it comes to putting their toys away.
I have never lied here about my girls or their penchant for making toys messes and not cleaning them up.
If you are new around here and not sure what I am talking about, you can take a look here.
However, this is more about Legos, then anything else today.
So thankfully, I recently was offered a free three month subscription with Pley, which is a toy rental company specifically for Legos.
I kid you not, you can get as many Lego sets mailed to you if you subscribe! They literally have hundreds of Lego sets, including Star Wars, Batman, Chima, Friends and so many more. (The possibilities are endless!).
How does it work?
- Sign Up with for a No Risk Free Trial – Meaning you get to try one Lego set for absolutely free. That is right – get a Lego set to try for free!
- Add Sets to Queue – Once you sign up, you can choose from the 100s available to favorite and these are the ones that Pley will try to send from (your choices).
- Play & Return – Get a set, play with it and then return it to get a new Lego set.
So what are the subscription plans?
There are four of them:
- 1 month (small sets) for $15; $25 (medium sets); $39 (large sets)
- 3 months for $60
- 6 months for $108
- 12 months for $192
Some typical questions Pley gets:
What if we lose a piece?
You can loss up to 15 pieces and will not be charged at all. Just report it on the status page and you are good to go, because Pley understands that pieces can get lost during play time (they must know my girls!).
What happens after the free trial?
You can either cancel your account in the 15 days and not be charged at all or continue with it get charged and receive more Lego play sets. There is truly no risk, just make sure to cancel again if you no longer want to receive Legos from Pley.
Are the sets clean?
Yes, they are cleaned with an eco and kid friendly sanitizer that is FDA approved for restaurants.
What do I get in the box?
A beautifully designed package with some exciting freebies and giveaways in each and every box!
Do I need to pay for shipping?
NO!! Pley pay for shipping both ways. To return it to them for free just used the pre-paid envelope enclosed in your package.
Can I buy the set, if my kids love it?
YES!! I mean let’s face it sometimes your kids will love a toy and not want to part with it. So, if you decide you would like to keep it, you can purchase it for a discounted price from Pley. You will still get your next rental from Pley like normal once you do pay for the Legos you had and are indeed purchasing. There you have it, an easy and affordable way to get new Lego set for your kid(s) to play with and keep getting new ones to try, as well.. We definitely are sold and my girls can been seen putting together their first Pley Lego package – The Friends, City Park Cafe in the photo gallery below:
Last, but not least come join us for the Twitter Party tomorrow night to celebrate the release of the Lego Movie on DVD (sponsored by Pley). Take a look at the graphic image below for all the details now!

That's a brilliant idea, Janine. My kids were sort of "before" sets became the thing to have, but I think most of the fun is in putting them together the first time. Then they start looking for another set. Love an innovative company seeing a need and meeting it!

Janine,
I think sharing toys or renting Legos is a brilliant idea. Kids do not want to play with the same toy all the time. This way it would be like a surprise and what kid does not like to get packages in the mail.
I have never participated in a twitter party, but I am going to try to participate tomorrow night.
Thanks for sharing!

That is an awesome deal for anyone but my family. We lose, destroy, and just generally disrespect toys around here. It’s so frustrating. I wish I knew how to get them to take better care. Maybe when they are older, this will be a perfect fit for them! I am glad you shared it!
Janine Huldie says
Aww, happy to share and will say that my kids are pretty bad too at keeping track of their stuff and have been right there while they are playing with this, but still 15 pieces are allowed to be lost god forbid. So, that does help out a bit.

We did this last summer Janine! So cool that you are writing a post for them. Last summer is was called Pleygo. It think it must have been new last year. I just clicked over from your link and it look very much improved. Much of what you've written is the same as last year. This was a great idea for while school was out. In a way I didn't feel like we got our money's worth. The turnaround was kind of slow. Not sure if anything has changed but it was shipping from one location in California. Christopher would get done with a set, we'd send it back, it has to get processed in and then another set is sent. So it would almost be two weeks before we got the next set. So when we Christopher did have a lego set that was missing a piece he was very disappointed. They said they would ship it but we just sent the entire set back. If it was a quicker turnaround I'd do it again. Also this may be whiny but I got a "nice" email from them asking to please take the Lego set completely apart. I sent one back in chunks. It's a pain to break apart every little piece, especially with the more complicated set. Christopher broke it apart just enough to get it in the return box and that's how I sent it. It is a very cool idea though, just not interested it doing it again.
My recent post Who gives this woman to be married to this man?
Janine Huldie says
Kenya, I just returned our first set today, because the girls kept wanting to put it together and take apart (repeat and rinse!). So, I will definitely keep my eyes out for what you told me here and see what happens. I am with you and did my best to break it apart when I sent back, but may not of broken it down to every single piece to be honest. As for the turn around, I also hope it is quicker then you state, because I did tell my girls that we would be getting a new one and they being kids of course have no concept of time and may ask me for days on end if they are getting a new one if this is the case. Again, will totally keep you posted and thank you for letting me know your experience last summer.
Kenya G. Johnson says
I forgot to mention that we are in NC – I hope you get yours quicker too – so that's mail from one coast to the other. You should get an e-mail once they receive yours and they'll give you an estimated time to expect your next set.
Janine Huldie says
We are in NY and definitely on the opposite coast of Pleygo – so we in a similar predicament as you would have been, too.

We love Lego's here. We tend to find a lot of mixed lots at garage sales, thrift shops and on ebay. We have a ton of totes for storing them. We also belong to the Lego club so when we do splurge on a set at the Lego store we get reward points. Kiddo tends to get a set here and there for Christmas or her birthday. It's a great toy that we all get a lot of joy out of playing with. The Pley concept sounds pretty interesting. I am just not sure we'd want to turn the legos back in!
Janine Huldie says
It was hard to return the first one, but now our of site out of mind at least for now π
flemily says
Wow – what an ingenious idea! I've never heard of this, but Legos ARE expensive and to rent them makes a lot of sense. I know that my boys used to beg for a certain lego set, build it once, and never use it again. I would have felt a lot less wasteful had we rented the toy…very cool!
