As I said goodbye to 2014 and a big hello to 2015, I have said it before on here that I am not big on resolutions and even only picked one word to try to focus on (the key here is to try), but I have been meaning to make a few changes here on my blog (not too much, but still change can be good for growth purposes).
I PROMISE this space in 2015 will remain pretty much the way most have grown to love and expect it, but there is one change I have been toying with and decided this week to just rip off the old bandage (we all know how much my girls are obsessed with band-aids, but still).
So, you may have guessed it if you subscribe to my blog newsletter, but for those who don’t, I won’t leave you in suspense.
I have decided to try to send out daily e-mail updates when I post new blog posts instead of monthly newsletters in 2015.
Why you may ask make this change for 2015?
Well, first of all, I have a wonderful subscription list and feel like I have been neglecting them a bit.
I also have many followers on social networks, especially Facebook, but to be honest, I have seen the numbers that view my actual Facebook post updates. Out of 4,300 Facebook fans, I am lucky if 100 see these updates daily (that is being generous by the way).
Plus most recently, I received this lovely note (totally sarcastic if you didn’t get it by now) from Facebook late last week that I apparently, I liked too many other Fan pages and this is what happens when you do that:
You’ve been temporarily blocked from liking Pages on Facebook because of the amount and type of Pages you’ve liked recently. We’ve also cleared all of your likes from the past 30 days.
You’ll be able to like Pages again in 30 days.
Remember that you should only like Pages you’re genuinely interested in. Visit the Facebook Community Standards to learn more about our policies.

I am truly not trying to figure out Facebook algorithms anymore (thankfully gave up on that quite some time ago actually) and am hopeful that those who are subscribers to my blog will be happy to get a few e-mails weekly (I truly only post no more then 3 times a week) versus having to scour the internet for my post updates that unless I pay to post said posts get buried in most of my readers’ feeds in 2015 unlike this post below that somehow reached 200,000 views in less then 24 hours (seriously scratching my head on this, but again this is Facebook!).
And this is the type of Facebook post that gets 200,000 views in less then 24 hours. If you can figure out why, please share with us!!Don’t get me wrong, I am not closing my Facebook Fan page just yet (I PROMISE), as that wouldn’t be quite fair to those who did follow me there or those who thought they were (Facebook seems to auto-unlike when they feel like it), as well as all the wonderful groups I belong to and interact daily with, but my hope is those who see this and might not have known they were missing my posts, will also subscribe to my blog and follow me this way now, as well, because you value my opinion and my little blog, too not wanting to miss a moment of the action around here anymore in 2015 and beyond.
I try my best to share myself and my family (The Princesses tales never get old) here (as personal as I can get with you), as well as some other really great content from my awesome sponsors, too in 2015.
[Tweet “What would you #promise for 2015 with #1Word @TheGoldenSpoons “]
This is my PROMISE to you, my readers and subscribers. (Thank you again to Lisa from the Golden Spoons for this week’s challenge).
Lastly, I am closing in on 200 subscribers (so thankful for all who have stuck by me and do support my blog) and although I haven’t done much in the way with giveaways, as I am trying not to bog this space down with them constantly, I would be willing to hold a giveaway when I reach over 200 subscribers.

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons says
Suspended from Facebook?!?!? You naughty girl!!!!! Ha! I would really love to grow my subscription base as well. I do currently send out an email (automatically) whenever a new post is published on my blog. I have toyed with the idea of a monthly newsletter, but just haven’t put forth the effort.
Janine says
I know Lisa, I was so bad that one day and liked about 20 pages and bam I can’t like pages for 30 days. Granted they were all legitimate blog pages of others I was friends with in the FB group, but Facebook saw it as spammy. As for monthly newsletter, I did it, but it didn’t seem to have much impact at growing my subscription base further, so thought I would switch it up and see what happened. Fingers crossed and by the way, I am truly having so much fun with your challenge, so huge thank you again!! π
Bill says
Well, I assume I’m signed up, since I keep receiving your postings, so all is well. As for Facebook….I think it’s pretty impressive getting shut out from the likes. π
Janine says
Bill, I do believe you are, as I am for you blog, too. Just so happy again that we do follow each other. As for Facebook, I know I surprised myself at how quickly I got myself shut out! π
Seana Turner says
I always love getting an email notice of a new blog post from Janine! Facebook has been a puzzle for me as well, but I try to focus on the value I get for what I spend (which is nothing.) It’s just one tool, and fortunately we have many. Good content deserves to be seen:)
Janine says
Aww, you made my night saying that Seana and I truly feel the same about you and your blog, too. And I agree great content does deserve to be seen π
Bev says
Facebook is pretty much the worst. I feel like right now the only thing I get out of it are the private groups. I can’t believe it erased all of your page likes for the last 30 days! Man that’s harsh.
Janine says
It was so harsh Bev and I agree the private grioups really are the best feature of Facebook!
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
Daily updates are awesome. I have been debating a monthly newsletter, but I haven’t even done that yet. I think everyone will love the scoop in their inboxes.
Janine says
Aww, thanks Robin and while I liked the monthly newsletter I wasn’t seeing much of a bump here from it, so figured I would try this having nothing to lose π
Ginny Marie says
I can’t believe Facebook unliked pages for you! That was not fair! I did notice your newsletter in my email today and wondered if you were doing something different. Which reminds me, I need to go get out my weekly newsletter!
Janine says
I get it, but still truly ticked me off and I rather sent out daily shot reminders now to those who truly want to read my blog then kill myself with Facebook. I will still share there, but not going crazy either though.
rosey says
Ugh, I’ve had a Facebook ban recently too. It’s annoying, and makes it hard to work.
Janine says
Sorry you had this happen too, but you are so right and definitely annoying making it hard to do our jobs.
Diane Roark says
Janine,
I am totally with you with Facebook. For the past few weeks, I have received NO shares, likes, or reaches. I have no idea what is going on. I am thinking maybe it is on my end with my new blog. I will have to try to figure that out later.
I love your posts and enjoy reading all of them.
Many Blessings,
Diane Roark
Janine says
Thanks Diane and you know I love reading your blog, too. Like I said similar here and definitely feel Facebook is hiding our posts if we don’t pay and advertise for them sadly.
Kimberly says
Hello beautiful! I always love stopping by at your fabulous party. Please stop by our party. We would really appreciate it. Happy Wednesday! Lou Lou Girls
Janine says
Thanks always Kim and happy to have you party with us again!! π
Gingi says
Added my linky! Thanks for the fun link-up!!! And yeah.. I haven’t even TRIED to figure out Facebook, so I’m right there with you… sigh.. – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
Janine says
So happy you did Gingi and have to head in again in a bit to take another look around!! π
Kim says
I like that even though you are changing things up a bit you are keeping your FB page – I enjoyed following FB during the holidays when I wasn’t blogging!!!
Janine says
Kim, I know I still like looking on Facebook and just didn’t have the heart to close it completely down.
Dana says
I’ve never sent out newsletters – just RSS feed when I have a new post. It is frustrating about Facebook though. I have IRL friends who don’t subscribe and depend on seeing my post on FB. Of course they rarely do, and I feel weird asking them to subscribe. Besides…how would I ask? They don’t regularly read, and they won’t see it on FB….
Ugh. I hope you hit the 200 mark soon!
Janine says
Thanks Dana and I am asking here, but like you would never ask my IRL friends to sign up for subscriptions unless they wanted to.
Amanda @ Growing Up Madison says
Janine I’m with you. I’ve totally given up on Facebook, I don’t even bother updating regularly anymore either. Seems like you have to pay to get anything done these days and my hard earned money can be spent on my kids and not to make FB richer. I’ll be here so will keep on getting your updates. Here’s to an amazing 2015!
Janine says
Aww, thanks so much always and you know I feel the same about you, too. Wishing you only the best, too in 2015!!! π
Rabia @TheLiebers says
Facebook is getting more and more quirky isn’t it? I just got up to 500 likes finally, but I don’t know how much difference that’s made in my reach and I’m certainly not going to kill myself trying to figure it out! I’ve signed up for your newsletter so you can get a little closer to your goal!
Janine says
I know exactly what you mean Rabia and huge hugs for signing up for my newsletter updates today π
Tamara says
It’s a good change!
Although I’m shaking my head that they would block you from liking pages AND clear the ones you liked. That’s just weird and sad. Some of them are important causes pages. WTH??
I usually like fellow blogger pages as well as local stuff around here.
Janine says
I agree Tamara, they were all legitimate pages and people I was happy to follow. So just totally aggravating that FB did this. I get the reasoning, but still they were indeed legit pages I wanted to follow sadly.
Jennifer | The Deliberate Mom says
I can’t get over Facebook! Gee whiz… that place is nuts. First algorithms, now this! Stick it to ’em!
I’m signing up for your email because hey Mr. Z. can’t stop that!!
Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo
Janine says
Aww, thank you so much Jennifer and you made my day signing up. Hugs to you and hoping you too are having wonderful day!! π xoxo!!
lisacng @ expandng.com says
I signed up! I don’t usually sign up for email subscriptions because I read on Feedly but certainly sign up when asked. Hope you reach 200 soon! And agree with you on FB. I don’t get it. I use it but it does nothing for the blog. So I’m focusing on Twitter this year. Though still just passively using it and not using it to gain followers.
Janine says
Huge thank you Lisa and I love they we do follow each other (as I am totally following you, as well). And like you I am big on Twitter myself this year and only using FB for groups now pretty much.
Diana Rambles says
Thanks for the party!!
Janine says
Aww, my pleasure and thank you so much again for linking up with us!! π
Lindsay Klein says
Blocked from liking facebook pages aka blocked for being awesome!!!! Oh facebook….love the post π xo
Janine says
Aww, thank you Lindsay and I have to say you are pretty damn awesome to me, too!! Just so glad you started, where I can follow you now π xoxo!!
Chris Carter says
I LOVE the change you are making Janine!! I tried to subscribe ions ago to your blog and I never see the confirmation email in my inbox… IT HAS HAPPENED TO SO MANY BLOGS!!! This drives me CRAZY!!!! I am so so sad that I can’t have you in my inbox, and if you know what happens to this glich and why, please let me know!! I have also LOST so many subscribed blogs somehow- they don’t come in my inbox anymore!! I have NO idea what is going on…
So I search. And I use bloglovin’… but yours? I come straight HERE girl. I love you… you ain’t ever getting rid of me!
FB- GAH. What is UP with that? Grr…. so done with it.
Alison says
I really, really, hate Facebook. π
Janine says
You and me both π
Jack says
Facebook can be a real pain. I frankly haven’t spent as much time as I could trying to build my page because I got irritated with all of the tweaking and changes that seemed to happen every ten minutes.
Lately I have reconsidered, but I still like my blog best. It is my favorite platform, not that anyone asked.
Janine says
Jack, I love my blog, too. So, i definitely agree with you there π
Jen says
You go girl, daily email updates!! I am just starting to think about a monthly one! I am excited to see all of the good changes one of my favorite blogs will be undergoing this year!
Janine says
Aww, thank you Jen and slowly trying to change things up for the better here π
Rea says
Exactly the reason I haven’t created a Facebook blog page for so long.. couldn’t quite understand Facebook sometimes. And well, now that I do have a Facebook blog page, it’s not getting anywhere that much. I also heard that from some Instagram users.. if they comment too much, they’ll be blocked! And they can’t comment until after 24 hours. Well, I’m always gonna be following your blog though. I don’t even check Bloglovin sometimes but I just type your blog address directly on my address bar!! Good luck with blogging this 2015.
Janine says
I never had an issue with Instagram, but then again I don’t think have ever commented that much, as I more like pics, but I do follow people, but again not as such of a large scale. And thank you for following me whichever way you do, as I really am so happy we both follow each other, Rea π
