I know there is still time left before 2016 is over.
However we will be ringing in 2017 before we know it.
While many may be working on their to-do lists for the 2016 holidays, it is also time to begin thinking ahead for 2017 as well.
[Tweet “Learn how to be healthier in the new year #NavigateEnrollment #IC #ad”]
As the New Year begins to draw closer, I am aware that many will start to think in terms of resolutions for the New Year ahead.
Most (myself included) think in terms of mental and physical health for resolutions. As in, I personally would like to feel healthier both mentally and spiritually, too.
Therefore, I am happily dishing some simple and easy resolutions to being healthier in 2017 and beyond below for us all:
1.Turning off mobile devices more.
Let’s face it, in this day and age; mobile devices seem to be the norm. With these devices, it is very easy to stay connected at all times. But sometimes, for our own mental well being shutting down our devices or even simply logging off social media for short periods of time can help to create a healthier environment for yourself. Want to learn how to do this? Then read about how to shut down socially here.
2.Sleeping more and/or better this new year.
This one may be easier said than done, but honestly sleep is something that we all need. So, making a conscious effort to make more time for it, as well as bettering your sleep habits should go along way to helping create a healthier you in the upcoming year.
3.Make more time to workout more.
I know this is probably one of the top New Year’s resolutions for many. Why? Because working out and exercising is a great way to help get and stay healthy.
4.Eat healthier after the holiday feasting concludes.
It is true that holiday eating isn’t always the best or most healthy either. But as the new year begins, now is the perfect time to get a handle on your diet by making sure to eat healthier and more sensibly.
5.Have more fun in 2017.
Make time to enjoy life simply. This could be making time to do more fun activities inside and outside the home with your family or even enjoying some fun alone time, such as reading a book, catching up on your DVR, or writing in your journal.
6.Getting wise about your own health insurance.
All of the above are indeed ways to get and stay healthy in the upcoming year. But health insurance is also a vital and essential component in protecting your health, as well as your family’s for the year to come.
I, for one, am truly so thankful that we are members of Anthem for our own family.
Finding the perfect health insurance for your family is a huge component for those looking to stay healthy. Moreover still, it is so very important that we all better understand all the resources available to you with health insurance choices.
That is why Anthem would like all to be aware and know that right now is open enrollment season, which is the annual period when you can pick a new health insurance plan. This can further help plot out your health for 2017 and beyond.
Plus, Anthem has support resources available to help all navigate their options during this upcoming open enrollment season and find a plan that is a good fit for you.
Take a look at the following infographic below to shed some more light on health insurance, as well as the open enrollment period:

I’m with you on #1. I’m trying to take more time away from screens, especially on Sunday. Tougher challenge for me in the winter, when I am stuck inside. But I think I need to lengthen “time away” from looking at the screens and look up to the sky and trees a bit more.

I know that first one is easier said than done this time of the year, but like you I am truly going to try to sign off more from my devices and just be more present overall. Thanks for sharing with me, Seana π

Janine says
Happy to hear Bill and wishing you also a very, Happy Wednesday once again now!! π
Jen says
I’m with you on all of these! I had kind of a health scare this year and it has made me re evaluate quite a bit. The old adage if you don’t have your health you don’t have nothing is really true. Thanks Janine for sharing this!
Janine says
Jennifer, I couldn’t agree with you more about health in general and very happy to hear that you are doing OK though. Happy to share and thank you for sharing, too!! π

I want to write and read more in 2017. I miss it. I’m off a regular blogging/reading schedule, and it’s making my brain turn to chopped liver. Also, the working-out time is a biggie. I’ve been playing disc golf before work every day for a while. It puts my work day a bit behind, but overall, I think the benefit is significant. Great post!
Janine says
That is awesome with the disc golf and I have taken breaks here and there in blogging, but I am always drawn back, as well, because I end up missing it way too much. Thanks Eli for sharing with me here.
Tamara says
I’m all about more fun! As for less screentime, I’ve started reading before bed instead of scrolling FB. Like the olden days! I do wake up feeling better.
Janine says
I love reading books before bed and try my best to do the same. Something about it just also makes me feel better, as well. So, once again we have something else in common, my twin!! π
Bev says
I definitely need to make an effort to get off my devices more in 2017, especially taking social media breaks. My mental health needs it!
Janine says
I am with you on my mental health definitely needing social media breaks from time-to-time, as well π
Cynthia says
Glad I get my health insurance stuff through the school system but this is really good to know.
I hope you have lots of happy, healthy moments in 2017. I can’t believe it’s almost 2017. Do you realize we all met in 2012!?
Where has the time gone? AND, see how far you’ve come!!
Janine says
Omg, you just blew my mind with how long ago we met and Happy almost New Year to you!! π
Aunt Gloria says
Very good advice and suggestions. Let’s hope it’s a healthy and happy New Year for all! xxoo

You already know that I agree with all of these!! Especially making time to workout more–it makes SUCH a huge difference in your day!
Janine says
I knew you would and agree about working out, too π
Kristi Campbell says
With you on all of this but most especially working out. I’ve so been slacking on the gym and need to get back. It’s too easy to be lazy and go with more sleep (which I also agree with) but often I don’t do either and need to!!
Janine says
Trust me, Kristi I am with you on both fronts and hoping to do more of both in 2017 now, as well. π
Emily says
I like that list, and most especially number 1. I so need to turn off my mobile devices more! It’s sad that I have to consciously think about unplugging, but I guess it’s a reality of our lives now…
Janine says
I know #1 is definitely a reality in our lives and because of this really would like to try more in the new year to unplug more hopefully if possible, too.
Julie Clarke says
I like that list a lot! Merry Christmas x
Janine says
Thanks Julie and Merry Christmas to you, too!!

Just Call Me Jane says
Hi Janine. I was just thinking recently that I really need to sign up for some health insurance. I haven’t had it for years. Your post is a timely reminder! I haven’t made any specific resolutions in terms of health and fitness but today I turned up at a family lunch wearing shorts and a singlet top because my neighbor had roped me into going for a walk with her. Usually I don’t dress like that at all so all my family were saying “oh I see you’ve made a New Year’s Resolution to get fitter!” I feel like I can’t disappointment them now π
Janine says
Jane, I love your outlook and so happy that your family did indeed take note, as well. Thank you for humbly sharing this with me and also wishing you a wonderful 2017 now, too π
