During a routine sonogram, my husband jokingly asked, “I guess I better start liking the color pink,” as we had just found out that we were the proud parents to a baby girl.
Less than 1½ years later, during my second pregnancy at yet another routine sonogram, we were told by my sonographer, “Sisters are the best” and that are older daughter was indeed going to be a big sister.
So another little girl was our fate and you guessed it more pink was to be had and loved by their dear, old dad.
The color pink is only the tip of the iceberg of the best things about being the mom to all girls.
Don’t get me wrong, I secretly had hoped to be the mom to all girls, because I was and still am a girly girl by nature, plus pink was in fact always my favorite color.
So, I was over the moon to get blessed doubly over with both my girls, because my girls truly are the best to me and there are quite a few reasons why I can say undoubtedly that this is true.
Almost 8 years since that original sonogram, I am still loving being a girl mom. Plus, I just celebrated my Mother’s Day for the 8th time.
So in honor of those 8 years here are the top 8 reasons, why I still love being a girl mom…
1. The clothes.
What can I say, but I love to shop, especially since the color pink seems to figure in heavily here. See I will never forget going to Babies R Us right after we found out that I was having a girl. Seriously, the girl clothes even from the tiniest of sizes are just so adorable and so fun to shop for. And as they have gotten older, it has only gotten more fun to shop for and with them now. It is like having my own built in shopping partners in crime now.
2. All Girls Want to Be Princesses.
Along the lines of clothes is one of my favorite phases so far with my girls and that there love for all things frilly with princess dress costumes, tutus and more. Even at my age, I love to dress up for parties and more. So it is so much fun to see that my girls are miniature versions of me on this.
3. The Hair.
I absolutely love trying new hairstyles out and doing all sorts of fun hairstyles, such as braids, pony tails, buns, pig tails and more. So now with my girls, it is like having my own personal hair clients daily to do all this and more with.
4. Public Restrooms.
As much as I complain sometimes since both my girls are now potty trained that bathroom breaks when out all fall on me, I am thankful conversely that when I do have to take someone to the bathroom with me it two little girls, who have the same physical equipment down there.
5. They Are Mommy’s Little Helpers.
Let’s face it, I don’t love to clean up messes. I mean who does? But still kids do have a way of making quite a bit of them, but my girls are always right at the ready to want to help take on all sorts of messes.
6. They love to talk.
I am a very outgoing and talkative person — maybe even a bit of a gossip girl. So, to have two other little people who could keep up and even rival me at times in this department is at the very least a major plus in my book.
7. They adore me.
When asked to choose, who will take them somewhere, tuck them in at night or who they just want to spend time with, it is usually always me, because I am their mom, who they look up to and idolize wanting to be just like as they grow up.
8. And I adore them, too.
When push comes to shove, these two little girls were in my heart from the moment I found out I was carrying them and honestly couldn’t picture my world without them in it now.
So for all the moms to girls or moms to be of little girls, trust me when I say, “Girls just want to have fun and are that much fun, too!”
Are you a girl mom, too?
