With the cold winter nights, as well as romance from Valentine’s Day being in the air, romance novels are what I have been reading recently.

Seriously, since the end of 2017 and the holiday season, I have been reading non-stop. If you recall in the fall of 2017, I had all but lost my reading mojo. It was at this time that I was afraid I would never feel quite the same way about reading. I truly feared that I wouldn’t find another book to spark my reading fervor. See I have always loved to read, but for some reason I was parallelized with dread to actually crack open a book to read for about a month last fall.

But that is all, but a distant memory as I am reading daily more often than not. All it took was a simple FREE download to get my reading engines revved and going.

Maybe it is because it is truly too cold here to want to go out anywhere in the evening or on the weekends. Plus, many of the shows I watch have been on hiatus for the winter holidays.

So, I downloaded one romance novel from an author I truly never read before that was free recently on iBooks. I so enjoyed that first book, that I proceeded to download and read the other two romance novels sequels in her series.

And then, I just kept going. That was many romance novels ago.

My romance novels list, thus has grown exponentially.

But even though that fear might return someday, I now know that I am truly a lifelong reader who somehow will find here way back.

Still given all the roman novels I have been reading as of late and with Valentine’s Day on tap this would be the perfect time to review my recent romance novels that I read.

10 Romance Novels To Make You Swoon Right Now

1. The Sweet Series, Abbi Glines – #1 Sweet Little Thing

This first book in the Sweet Series was free in IBooks recently. So, I thought why not? Honestly, was a very easy and quick read for me.

What started out as a mystery as to why Beulah was taken in by deathly Portia Van Allen quickly turned into a streamy romance novel read. See an innocent Beulah slowly, but surely caught the eye of Portia, son Jasper Van Allen. Jasper came off as prince charming. But looks can be deceiving.

Still there budding romance was definitely a welcome change of pace. But by the end, even though one bombshell was revealed, I was left wanting more of Beulah’s tale and Abbi’s steamy, sudsy writing. So, enter #2 and #3 in this series for me.

2.The Sweet Series, Abbi Glines – #2 Sweet Little Lies

Number two in this series had to be read by me as I needed and wanted to know what would happen next to Beulah and Jasper.

Never did I expect, the one person that Beulah despised in book #1 would be the person to rescue and light her days and nights on fire.

Plus, just when I thought these two had a chance another crazy, insane, twisted bombshell was revealed by none other than Beulah’s first love, Jasper to put a damper and monkey wrench into Beulah’s new budding romance.

3.The Sweet Series, Abbi Glines – #3 Sweet Little Memories

So after consuming books #1 and #2 in The Sweet Series, I desperately wanted to find out how things would turn out for Beulah.

Of course, book #3 starts off with Beulah having to deal with the aftermath of Jasper’s revelation about Stone to Beulah. I was hopeful that Beulah and Stone would get past this latest monkey wrench. At first, it seemed as though they may do just that.

But after another plot twist, which frankly I did see coming a mile away this time, their fated romance seemed to be in major crisis and jeopardy. Enter Jasper to attempt to pick up the pieces. Without giving the ending away will say that I honestly enjoyed this series from beginning to end. And it was just what I needed to jump start my reading mojo for this upcoming year. So, even though I know many have panned this whole series, I most definitely enjoyed and would recommend to romance genre fans.

4. Once She Dreamed, Abbi Glines

Fresh off The Sweet Series by Abbi Glines, I decided to read another from her.

The story of Sammy Jo Know was easy enough to follow. Sammy is a country girl longing to find her way to the big city (the biggest out there NYC). Enter a charming and handsome, but rich stranger in the form of Hale Christopher Jude III.

As much as this one had an interesting plot line I really wasn’t too impressed with it. I much rather enjoyed Abbi Glines’ Sweet Series and this one just fell flat for me. Neither of the two main characters left me wanting to root for them or much less care for them. There is a second one to this series and honestly can’t bring myself to care enough to want to read it. Still, I do enjoy Abbi Glines’ writing style and will try to read more from her in the future.

5. Blurred Lines, by Lauren Layne

After having read a few books recently by Abbi Glines, the author Lauren Layne was recommended to me.

With her novel, Blurred Lines the question of if men and women can just be friends was a central question. See Parker Blanton and Ben Olsen have been friends from their freshman year of college. Over 6 years later and even after having graduated college, the two are best of friends. They even share an apartment and are roommates.

Parker is seriously dating her boyfriend back from their college days. But pretty quickly into the book, her dumps her. Parker is seemingly devastated. Enter roommate, Ben who is a serial dater and playboy. However with Parker is just her best friend, Ben.

But from the first night of her breakup, there is a notable undercurrent that they may just have more chemistry than that of just friends. Ben is the first to detect it. But soon, Parker also realizes that something more may be there. So, she makes Ben a proposition to have friends with benefits type of sex with each other. The sex, for both of them, seems to be mind blowing. So much so that what started out as just casual hooking up seems to turn into so much more for them. But then, Parker’s ex decided he wants her back.

What is a girl to do with this? Well, without spoiling it let’s just say you have to read right through to the end to find out how it will all end up for these friends turned lovers.

6. You Were Mine, by Abbi Glines

So back to Abbi Glines for me. I can’t totally seem to stay away from her southern hospitality type of romance.

This one is part of her Rosemary Beach novel series. While I haven’t read any of the others in this series yet, I decided to give the story of young ex lovers Bethy Lowry and Tripp Newark a chance.

This one starts out with Bethy coming off the major lose of her current fiancé (Jace), who drowned trying to save her life while she was actually almost drowning herself.

See Bethy is understandably traumatized. But her downright anger for Tripp is palatable. Like I said turns out these two have a very tangled past. Plus, Jace was Tripp’s cousin. Bethy blames Tripp for leaving her all those years ago and also for Jaces’ early demise. Tripp also blames himself for this and more. Plus, he decides he needs to be Bethy’s recuser after this tragedy. The story takes off from there to see if these two can come to terms with there past, move on and possibly find happiness with each other or not.

7. Someone Like You, by Lauren Layne (Oxford #3)

Back to Lauren Layne for me. What can I say, but that I truly enjoy her writing style. I know I haven’t yet read any of the others in this series. But the story of Lincoln Mathis and Daisy Sinclair was one I truly wanted to read.

These two are likable enough on their own, but together they really seem to that and than some.

What started out as a warning from Daisy’s twin sister at her own wedding to stay away from playboy Lincoln turns into one hell of an adventure. These two just seem to have more in common than not. That is why they both escape the wedding reception to have a fun night of drinking together. Nothing more, but through this we find out there is so much more to Lincoln’s story than just being the playboy that all in this series think he is. Plus, Daisy also has a few noteworthy skeletons in her closet. But together these two just seem to make sense.

Bonus that they also seem to get each other for all their pasts have left that extra added baggage for them to deal with. But can they help heal each other to find happiness with each other in the end? You seriously need to read this one to find out.

8. I Knew You Were Trouble, by Lauren Layne (Oxford #4)

So after reading Oxford #3 with Daisy and Lincoln’s story I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the next in this series with hard edged, Taylor Carr and equally frustrating, Nick Ballantine.

But wow, I must say I truly didn’t get the extent of either of their pasts that played a big role in how they interacted with others or each other. Still, as I read that is exactly what I began to understand just that much better. Plus, both characters had so many more layers to them than originally was displayed in book #3 or the beginnings of #4.

Through some chance of fate, Taylor and Nick become roommates after Taylor’s boyfriend dumps her for his ex-girlfriend. At first they despise each other, but grow to care and need each other. So hate seems to turn to love as this novel progresses. But then, Taylor’s ex wants her back. But does Taylor want her ex back or Nick, who she may need now more than ever? Definitely could be a dilemma for her, as well as all involved.

9. The Trouble with Love, by Lauren Layne (Sex, Love & Stiletto #4)

So after reading two in Lauren Layne’s Oxford Series, I decided to give her sister series a chance. Why? Because I wanted to see how Emma Sinclair (twin to Oxford #3’s main female character, Daisy Sinclair) and Alex Cassidy’s romance first took off.

But it seems these two had an ill-fated past where they were not only romantically involved, but almost once married years previous to their #4 tale.

But what actually happened to make Emma and Cassidy (yes Emma will only refer to him by his last name) at odds with each other? We not only find out here. But also given the chance to see if these two can get past their original romantic mistakes and disaster to finally find love and more – maybe even with each other.

In order to do this, Emma and Cassidy need to once and for all go back to their past to get to the bottom of what actually happened and see if they can move past it. But can they do so? Do they want to? This one is for anyone who loved, lost and still has hope that they can still get it right with each other in my honest estimation.

10. Good Girl, by Lauren Layne (Love Unexpectedly)

This is my fifth Lauren Layne book and my second in her “Love Unexpectedly” series after having read, Blurred Lines recently. This time out, Jenny Dawson, America’s young country darling endures a Hollywood type scandal where she has been accused of sleeping with another woman’s husband. She flees to Louisiana in the face of this tumultuous scandal.

Jenny is hoping to go incognito and fly under this scandalous radar. This pretty much seems to be a good plan. Except the place she is renting is owned by Preston Maxwell Walcott. He became a rich boy after living his early years in a trailer park with his mom. See his mom had an affair with his wealthy biological dad years back. For those early years, his dad was all but non-existent. But in his teen year a tragic turn of events led his dad to come back into Preston’s life. By this point, Preston had been raised as  “Noah”. So as he grew up he was turn in two different directions. One thing leads to another and these two get tangled up in each others lives and hearts.

Part of the fun in this story is to see when these two will realize that they are both more than falling hard for the other even though their lives are seemingly different as night and day. Also, things aren’t always as they appear, especially with how Jenny was labeled a home wrecker and yet she is anything, but. As well as, that Noah is the one dimensional boy from the side of the wrong tracks, who now is a rich man that got everything he wants and needs at his disposal. Thus, this one proves that sometimes opposites do attract and that you never know when and where love will find you.
