The countdown has been on for some time. As of today, we have a week left until we are on a plane flying down to Walt Disney World for our second trip in two year’s time to celebrate all things Christmas at Walt Disney World.
To say, I am excited would be an understatement. Seriously, I am like a kid right before Christmas morning. I can feel all the anticipation building and am on the verge of shouting for joy.
If you are a huge Disney fan, as my family and I are, then you know there is nothing like Disney World at Christmas time. Seriously there is nothing like it. The happiest place on earth is transformed for the merriest time of the year grandly.

See at midnight on November 1st, this begins. I watched videos and photos start to appear in my Facebook feed early that morning this year as I happen to follow many other Walt Disney World fans, as well.
Now, I cannot wait to see the Disney World Christmas magic again with my own two eyes. I can almost taste it as it is practically in my grasp.
Therefore, what better time than now to elaborate here on all I am ecstatically looking forward to at Christmas at Walt Disney World.
Read on below.
10 Things to Be Excited for with Christmas at Walt Disney World
1. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2018
Recently, I delved into this merriest party at The Magic Kingdom in depth in this article. The very first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts tonight, and I am on the sidelines watching it as it unfolds. But next Friday night, I will attend this most awesome party with my family. We already have our festive outfits picked out. I am also plotting out the best photo spots and character meet-ups. Trust me, every day I am adding to our itinerary for this festive event.
2. The World Showcase Christmas Style
If the Magic Kingdom is a blast at Christmas time, then so too is Epcot. I especially love the World Showcase during this time of the year. Heading into the World Showcase is one of the prettiest and grandest Christmas Trees. Plus, the World Showcase is not only all decorated for the occasion, but the treats are deliciously holiday themed.
3. Hollywood Studios Toy Story Land Christmas Style
Ok, so big time confession, I have yet to see Toy Story Land at night time. When we were there in the summer, we went earlier in the day. Plus, it was a rainy day. But I am dying to see Toy Story Land lit up at night time. Also, I just saw some gorgeous photos online of it decorated for Christmas time. So, this is pure Disney Christmas bucket list now.
4. Grand Floridian Gingerbread House
Last year, we took the monorail to The Magic Kingdom from our resort. On the way is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. We had heard all about the life-size Gingerbread House that they have there. We stopped to see it. My girls have been talking nonstop about returning to see it again this year. Not only is the Gingerbread House adorably decorated, but they sell holiday treats there. A bonus is we are on the meal plan, and most of these treats are snack credits. So, we will be using some of those snack credits on these Gingerbread House treats for sure.
5. Disney Christmas Themed Treats
As I mentioned in #4, Walt Disney Christmas/Holiday treats are the best. Not only can you find them at the Gingerbread House mentioned above House, but practically at all over the parks and resorts, too. Moreover, Mickey Very Merry Christmas Party sells special treats just for the party. So, you can bet we will be adding those to the list of goodies enjoyed.
6. Special Disney Themed Christmas Photos
Last year, I was a bit of a novice at this. But this year, I know my way around after last year’s experience. Plus, I have done my research to learn of any newer photo experiences. So, I have them added to my list, as well. I plan on using these Disney Themed Photos for my upcoming holiday card. I applied last years for our 2017 card and worked perfectly.
7. Christmas Themed Merchandise
I am indeed a sucker for Disney merchandise. Seriously, I scope out groups online, as well as the Disney Parks App and Shop Disney. I was able to order some of it already wisely online. But what I haven’t been able to get my hands on, I will be buying directly at Walt Disney World. Plus, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Themed Merchandise is on the top of my list. These items are only available at The Magic Kingdom during the party. So, I will be most definitely getting my shopping on during the party, too. Plus, I also plan on doing some of my Christmas shopping here for gifts, especially for my mom.
8. Mickey’s 90th Birthday Celebration
While this isn’t wholly Christmas related, Mickey 90th Birthday is on Sunday, November 18th. My family and I will be in The Magic Kingdom to celebrate the big day with the head mouse. We have been so excited about this birthday celebration for some time. So, this is definitely on the list of what we are looking forward to this upcoming holiday trip.
9. Christmas in Warmer Weather
Because I am a New York and Northeast girl all my life, I can’t help but look forward to a break from the Fall and almost winter-like weather that has started to occur in my neck of the woods. Been tracking the weather and it is in the high 70s and lower 80s in Orlando right now. So, bring on the warmer weather to celebrate the holidays. Plus at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, it snows on Main Street. As my older daughter points out the snow is soap or bubbles! Seriously, my kind of snow that is clean and disappears very quickly!
10. Christmas in Walt Disney World!
Yes, I know all of the above nine were related to #10. But still, it is Christmas at Disney World! Seriously, how can you go wrong or not be excited? I mean Christmas and Disney World are the best. So, putting them together is a dream come true for me once again this time out!
As you can see, my excitement is growing by the minute here. Suitcases are just starting to be packed, and it’s almost that time for us. So, was my absolute pleasure to overshare my love of Walt Disney World during Christmas time here.
Plus, if you are looking to possibly get away to Walt Disney World for this holiday season, there is still time for you, as well.

I gotta say – now I’m a little upset that we go in January. We go to avoid crowds but not to avoid Christmas. Sob. It looks awesome – especially that gingerbread house.

This does look like a very special time to be at Disney! About 7 or 8 years ago, I visited the Gaylord Opryland resort outside of Nashville and they decorated “to the hilt” for Christmas. Your photos remind me of this. Disney does everything well, so I know it will be a fabulous trip full of memories. Enjoy!!
Janine says
Aw, Gaylord Opryland also sounds like they do a great job decorating and celebrating Christmas, too 🙂
Jen says
Next Friday, holy YAY!! I have done Halloween at Disney, but never Christmas. I am super excited for you!

Nothing is more spectacular than being at Disney during the Christmas season. It is even more magical than ever. So, thrilled your family had a great time. My favorite is seeing the castle lit up and all the amazing gingerbread houses.
Have a magical Christmas!
