When I was a little kid, I thought…
Not sure If I can remember back that long, but will try.
But still it wasn’t that long ago at almost 38 years old now, it does feel like another lifetime ago.
I vaguely recall being carefree and not having a worry in the world.
I was a kid for god’s sake, meaning someone did all the worrying for me.
Someone else took care of me and wiped my tears when I cried or was proud of me when I accomplished something, like learn to ride a bike.
Someone else made sure that food (warm meals were king back then) and drink was always available.
Also, somebody else made sure I had a warm bed to sleep in and a roof over my head, while making sure bills were paid.
This same person also made sure that I was generally happy and had most, if not all my needs met.
Who was this magical person?
This person was MY MOM!
I Love you mom and can’t thank you enough for all you did me and still do for all of us now.
Mom and I-2006 at My WeddingAnd by the way, she was right when she said that a mother’s job is never done.
Now as a mom to my own crazies, I know this in spades!

I know Dana, trust me I was truly ungrateful as a kid and now when I see my girls being this way, I am reminded that what goes around just totally comes around.

Wow, your little girls look just like you did as a kid! Crazy! I often miss those carefree days when someone else took care of everything!
My recent post When Your Child is Anxious

I know Stephanie, I totally miss those days. Trust me, especially after the long day I had with Emma melting down right before bed. So done for today, as much as I love my kids, sometimes I wish I could go back tot hose more carefree days (tonight sorry, but just feeling more like that then usual I suppose).

This is so cute. Love the photos! (I see Big Bird in that first one!) I think it's cool that a lot of people did a tribute to their mother. Moms really are awesome. π
Janine Huldie says
Thanks and you are totally correct, it was a Sesame Street blanket set up in the background, because I was apparently not feeling well that day and they wanted to get a picture to send out for Christmas with their cards that year. So, totally Big Bird in the background π
@LRConsiderer says
Sounds idyllic. I love that you had so much carefree and cared-for loveliness π And that you now make sure Emma and Lily have that, too π

Thanks Lizzi and totally was so idyllic and so much simpler back when I was a kid. I do try with my girls, too, but definitely was just a different time, I suppose when we were growing up.

Beth, I totally liked your post and felt bad. Didn't want you to think I didn't want to comment on it. I wanted to tell you that you totally brought me back with Hubba Bubba and made me think of the gum back in the day that I actually used to have a liquid center when you bit into it. Can't remember the name, but used to love it. But again thank you for linking up and hope you will join us again next week! π

Moms are remembered for a lifetime. Why? Because moms do what no other group will! From cleaning up crappy diapers to finding EPT's (that shouldn't have ever been there to begin with in their mind), moms are the best. I can tell yours is no exception to that! Nice post, Janine!

Rich from crappy diapers to EPT's, you totally made me giggle. So thanks for that your awesome sense of humor, which I am just so happy to have gotten to know and love! Thanks as always π

Hey – Super late to this dance – but figured I'd join up all the same because I was in a bloggy mood and finally had a chance to sit down and write!
On your post – I remark we are the same age. And as for someone worrying about my every need so I could be carefree? I think I'd appreciate that now. As a kid? I mostly wanted to be grown up and in charge of myself. I needed someone with a big road flare to let me know adulthood wasn't really all the freedom, sunshine and lollipops I'd envisioned… I think Brad Pitt was onto something with the whole aging in reverse thing…
Janine Huldie says
You are never late and the linkup is open until Sunday morning, so happy you did join us. As for growing up trust me I definitely didn't know how good I had it back then and I truly wanted to grow up and be independent as much as possible here, too. Would love that aging concept though, because like I said totally didn't know how good I really had it!

I'm gonna be the debbie downer and say, I wish I had that kind of relationship with my mom. The best I can hope is that I am that kind of mom for Isaiah! Because I do know how wonderful it can be! Over the years I have "borrowed" a mom, and she is amazing!

First off, thank you so much for saying that. Second, I am happy to let you reflect a bit and know I can’t help, but love thinking back, because my mom and my childhood for the most part was the best. Having kids like you said truly make me appreciate it that much more! π

You know, I've had a lot of "moments" with my mother over the years, but now that I'm a mother myself, I understand her so much better. And she is my best friend. She's the only person who really cares about all of the things I'm going through, and I would be lost without her. Who would've thought?! π
Janine Huldie says
I say the same thing, because back when I was a teen I thought my mother just didn't understand me (yup I was a rotten teen), but now I would so be lost without her! So, agree, who would have thought!!
