Well, another weekend is indeed here and seriously still can not believe how quickly this past week just flew by.
I guess the winter still wants to hang around though, because more snow and Polar Vortex like temperatures reared their ugly head this week after having a long and relaxing weekend with Martin Luther King Day being Monday, where Kevin had off from work and the girls from school.
We even had a snow day on Wednesday. I kept the girls home from school on Tuesday, because the snow was coming down pretty hard already. Only one day of school for them this week!
So not happy about this weather though, but I guess it is indeed winter and just have to deal with it and still find the good in this past week.
With that said, I wanted to share with you as always, my 10 Things of Thankful for this past week.
So sit back and enjoy.
1. Another fun weekend manicure. I am honestly experimenting with and trying new nail polish looks again. In case, you missed this in previous weeks, I am now treating myself on Fridays by doing my own nails. I buy the polish and have fun creating.
2. Friday night dinner, more homemade pizza experiment with easy, homemade garlic bread, too. Yum!
3. Lily telling Kevin she wanted me to put her to bed. And when he pretended to fake cry, she told him he cries like girl!
4. Finishing another book. On book five now and seriously could not help, but love book 4 and The Promise of Stardust, by Priscille Sibley. Stay tuned for another review soon.
5. Saturday morning, it was chilly, but not too cold that we couldn’t make Piña Colada smoothies and dream of warmer weather now.
6. Uncle Michael bringing home Valentine’s wood plaques for the girls to decorate and color.
7. Emma baking mint red chocolate heart chip cookies with grandma.
8. This month’s sponsor Sunshine Before the Storm. Absolutely love and adore Alexa, who self-published this amazing book and consider her a wonderful friend. Just so happy she has advertised with me this month and please stop by to find out more information on her book, here.
9. Having Kevin home on Monday for Martin Luther King Day – long weekend, which included the girls getting to Play Disney Infinity on the PS4 with The Incredibles courtesy of Kevin’s co-worker letting us borrow it from her.
10. More Pandora playing and love my bracelet this week as we head closer and closer to Valentine’s Day.
A side note by the way, I am on Instagram here and my hashtag to follow me is @jnine0712. Most of the photos above were indeed posted on there and trying to make an conscious effort for 2014 (one of my goals for the new year) to use Instagram more then ever and hope you will follow me over there if you haven’t already!*

Camilleta says
Aww, sounds like it was a great week! That is too funny, what Lily said to her dad. Kids are so funny. The other day Kaylee told me, "Even though you're still a little fat, I still think you're pretty!" LOL thanks kid!

Janine Huldie says
Thanks Michelle and the comment and the photo do make me smile, too so 🙂

I can totally identify with loving to have hubby home for that Monday! I had an outburst of laughter when your one daughter said your husband was being a girl when he started to fake cry. She's too much! Ugh these snow days. The girls look like twins in their snow gear outside. 🙂
My recent post 16GB Ipad Mini @GrowinUpMadison Birthday #Giveaway
Janine Huldie says
I know was so nice to have him home, but then having everyone home for 2 more days, I was truly unable to get much of anything done. So been playing catchup. But just want to say thank you so much again for your friendship and for always being so kind. Seriously means the world to me 🙂
Billybuc says
I love how the weather bureau all of a sudden came up with a name for a cold front…The Polar Vortex….sounds ominous. In all my life I have never heard that phrase…..just means it is friggin cold out. LOL Have a great Saturday.
Janine Huldie says
I totally agreed Bill and it was supposed to be a once in a lifetime deal and then a week later it is back! Have a great weekend now, too 🙂
realhousewife says
Too funny about Lilly telling Kevin he cries like a girl:)) hahahaha. Now tell her to use some of your nail polish and paint Daddy's nails! Lol (my girls once painted Dsves fingernails after he fell asleep on the couch!!)
Emma's skirt in the cookie making photo is adorable! So cute…and sounds like ya had a good week!
Now chant this with me…"winter is almost over…winter is almost over…winter is almost over…"
Janine Huldie says
The painted toenails had to be a sight and seriously would so take a photo if that happened here. And Emma is truly my skirt girl and you never find her without one. Oh and I am so going to keep chanting that and pray that it is soon. Seriously, so hating the cold and winter this year more then ever. Happy weekend, Kelly 🙂
Lisa @ Meaning of Me says
Making daddy fake cry and then telling him he cries like a girl – too funny! I'd like to know more about those chocolate chip red heart cookies.
Friday night pizza experiments? Sounds like fun. I haven't made homemade pizza in a while…maybe I should add that to next week's menu.
Have a wonderful week!

My daughter Lola (almost 4) LOVES the sparkly nail polish, she is a BIG FAN of sparkles!
The snow bunnies look adorable, nice when they get outside, even if it's not for very long in this crazy weather.
Your french bread pizza looks so good, I just decided that is what we're having for dinner. YUM!
Janine Huldie says
I hope you do try doing this pizza and let me know if you do. The sparkle polishes are a true winner for my girls and now me, too 🙂
stephanie2006 says
Oh my goodness, no 3 is so typical of a Lily, could have come from ours 🙂 Love the wooden plaques the girls decorated, what a great job! Enjoy the snow! we've had a mere dusting on the roofs today, and little more to expect in the next days before the temperatures will rise again. Seems like a quite futil winter here in Germany! Always love days off! Glad you could enjoy a long weekend as a family! Have a great rest of the weekend, Janine!

Those SPRINKLES! Wow, but they're BRIGHT! *envious*
I do love Lily's sassy attitude 😀
AAaaaand in your picture, the snow looks PINK! I assume it's the filter you used, but WOW!
(homemade garlic bread is THE BOMB!)
And thanks for featuring Sunshine *mwah*
Janine Huldie says
Lizzi, I love Lily’s sassy attitude even when I probably shouldn’t, but still. And I filtered that picture on Instagram, so I guess it gave it a pinkish tint, but I just loved the effect still and all. Truly my pleasure to feature Sunshine this month, actually really proud to be able to 🙂
Dyanne@IWantBacksies says
All I gotta say is, if you have to suffer through a Polar Vortex AGAIN, the least it could do is bring enough snow with it for a snow day or two. We were cheated – all cold, no snow.

Dyanne, I will gladly send you some of our snow if you want it!! 😉

Monday was definitely a day to be thankful for – I loved that we were all home and had no plans!!! So glad Kevin was home, too!
Funny about Lily telling Kevin he cries like a girl – we say that occasionally when one of the boys screams "you scream like a girl!!" – which always makes them do it even more.
Maybe next week will include less snow.
BTW – at the Bridal Fair today when I was walking around, one of the jewelers who had a booth had a drawing for a free Pandora bracelet (for the brides, I didn't enter:() – I immediately thought of you!!!
Janine Huldie says
I love that you thought of me with the Pandora booth giveaway. Seriously, could be thought of for worse and not too shabby! Also love that your boys scream louder when you tell them they sound like a girl, totally made me smile thinking that. And so with you on less snow this week (being hopeful for this).
pfchico says
It sounds like a good week despite the cold. I need a mani & pedi too. The weather has been horrible. I am sick of being cold.
Janine Huldie says
So sick of being cold, but not a bad week other then the cold weather and snow.
babygatesdown says
Your Instagram photos are lovely! That is one social media venue I haven't gone down yet. Right now I'm playing with Tumblr. I can only take so much "new" at a time. So maybe next…..
We suffered through a week of freezing here as well. Can't wait for it to end. But it looks like you had much to be thankful for regardless – snow days, pina colada – and awesome nails!
And hee hee – crying like a girl 🙂
Janine Huldie says
I have yet to look into Tumblr myself, but seriously having so much fun with Instagram right now that think I may be mildly addicted! 🙂
Kim Tobin says
I am so ready for summer weather now! I'm beginning to feel like a shut in because when it's so cold outside, I really don't want to bundle up a baby and bring him outside!
My recent post Kicking Off the Blogathon!

I totally remember when both my girls were babies, too hated bundling them up and taking them out in the cold weather. Hoping winter goes quick now for all of us! 🙂

Also, hope you are right about Spring, because we had more snow today (not as much as the last time), wind and freezing cold temperatures. So, yes I am ready for spring!

clark says
well, at least your photos are warm feeling/looking…lol
oddly enough, I found myself rooting for the extreme cold when the snow started, it si much easier to shovel when it is that light and dry a snow (from the low temperatures).
stay warm, almost Feb (which is nearly March)!

I make garlic bread from bagels and it is always one of our favorites and so, so easy.
I adore those plaques. I bet the girls had a great time with those!
The weather has been just awful up north. It's just cold here but look at all that snow! The girls seem to be enjoying it but I bet you'll be glad to see it all go!

I love the look on Emma's face as she is baking with her grandma. Too cute! Hopefully you'll have a full week of school this week. Despite not seeing the ground since the beginning of December, we have yet to have a snow day!
My recent post Philanthropy Friday: The Evolved Dog
Janine Huldie says
Jennifer, that is crazy and can’t believe you haven’t seen a snow day out of all of that snow. We have had two so far, one being this past week. However, Monday school was closed, because of Martin Luther King Day, it was already bad right before they were to go Tuesday afternoon, they are always off Friday with pre-school, so that left only Thursday this week for us. Crazy, right?
christine says
We did not get a three-day weekend, as our schools used it as a snow make-up day from the first round of vortex. I'm a bit jealous of your one day of school week. It looks like you all used your time at home to the fullest.
Stay warm with this next round of frigid!
My recent post An Introless Ten Things of Thankful, Week 32
Janine Huldie says
It was honestly nice and fun in the beginning, but by the third day, we were all having cabin fever or though it would seem. But I am just thankful they were able to stay warm indoors and not have to freeze int frigid weather. And hoping that this next round is quick and gets out of here soon now!
MelChi says

I think I am super spoiled with Dino in daycare, because I can send him even when I am home from work or on vacation. When he is in public school next year that all ends and my "me" time will end…sighs… LOL

HHAHA to Lilly telling Kevin that he cries like a girl! That's priceless! We only had one day of school last week as well, and that day was a 2-hour delay. Ugh.
