Welcome back to Finish The Sentence Friday Blog Hop (FTSF). We give you a sentence and you finish it (however long or short you’d like).
And now for this week’s sentence to finish: “I have absolutely no interest in…“
Next week’s sentence to finish: “Dear Mom…”
I have absolutely no interest in…
Sports!
I admit it I am and will always be a girly girl at heart. So, once a girly girl always a girly girl!
One of my favorite movies, Clueless said it best that when I was younger I only had direction for Contempo Casual (totally dated myself on this).
Ironic that as a mom to two small girls, I truly didn’t do the role of frilly dance mom, as well as thought I would have though.
And yet, I have done that of soccer better then I ever thought or I swore that I would, here!
But yes, I so seemingly love to watch my girls get their soccer on running and owning the field.
They have such a great time being outdoors and attempting to score goals weekly that I get such pride for seeing their joy and excitement.
But still, I would never actually play this sport or any for that fact of the matter, because sports and myself just don’t go hand in hand.
Plus, as Kevin puts it, I attempted to give and understand his favorite sport football when we were first met, but as soon as I got the engagement ring this too looked less then thrilling to me. Ok, I admit just as he feigned interest in chick flicks, I too did in football. But now, we both know better and happily embrace what we like and give each other space for what we don’t.
See at the heart of it, I am still that young girl who loves the mall and shopping, too. Plus I am a klutz who could and has tripped over her own two feet.
Yet, I am thankful that my girls have a bit more coordination that I do or did have, but still deep down I know they are mine, especially when they would opt to play Princess dress up rather then much else!
So, in the end, I still have no interest in playing sports nor watching it unless, of course, my girls are the ones playing.
And just in case, you need a laugh, Cher and I could have been twins as cars as gym class and physical sports in our youth:
Now that I shared what I have no interest in, please share with us today you might not have any interest in either.

Hahaha! Love how you finished this sentence. Oh yes soccer. I have seen countless games yet I still don't really get all the rules. Imagine my delight when one year my daughter's coach decided we'd have a Moms vs Daughters game. Up until that point I'd been able to fudge it. Hah! Not any more. As for other sports – I do like hockey. However, I only watch the playoffs and the odd game if it's on and my son is home. Love watching with him because he's happy to explain stuff. When he's not home …. hmmmm…. The Voice anyone? Yes Please.
My recent post Thank You But No
Janine Huldie says
Lol, Kelly sounds like me with the TV when no one is home. And I could probably play soccer if asked, but deep down I truly don't want to. Watching them is fine, but playing is a whole other ballgame π
Brittnei Washington says
Too funny! I don't know if I ever would have thought you didn't like sports! Your girls are so cute. Such a great shot of Lily playing soccer. I played sports in school and yet I'm still very very girly. I guess I found myself somewhere in the middle. Hubby loves that I love watching and talking football with him π
My recent post Thankful for New Interests And Many Blessings
Janine Huldie says
Brittnei, Kevin would love if I loved to talk football with him, but sadly as much as I tried I never did get it and just can't try faking that at all at this point π
spiritedlife says
I'm not a girly girl by any stretch of the imagination. I dress up when I go out, otherwise, sweats, no makeup, and tennis shoes are my wardrobe. Happily. Unless I have somewhere to go, wearing jeans are too much! LOL! I'll go run around with your girls and you can shop with mine!

OMG Janine! I can't believe you did Clueless! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie and didn't even have to watch the gym tennis clip to know exactly what Cher was gonna say. LOVE. And yeah, I'm happy being on the sidelines these days, too. ;D

I love what you did to this post, J9.
Those pictures are adorable and blame it on my age or whatever, but I am not a sports person…lol
happy to linkup!

Aww, thanks so much Ruchira and heading over to check out your post now, too!! π
Rea Alducente says
We are so much alike in this area! I totally don't have interest in sports too! When I was still in high school, I attempted to play volleyball and soccer but never really succeeded. Apparently, I didn't know how to "run".. LOL. It's great though that you and your husband give way to each other's likes and interests.
Janine Huldie says
Rea, I don't know how to run or even like it very much either. Love that it isn't just me!! π
Kat says
I've never been much of a girly girl but I too have never been very coordinated. Still, I wish that my parents had tried a little harder to get me to participate in sports when I was a kid. That's why I'm so glad that my kids have been playing soccer since they were five (now 13 and 15) and my son is now playing rugby. They are getting an experience that I never had and I'm so glad!

Janine Huldie says
Kat, I admit I am glad my parents didn't push it with me, because wasn't my thing, but I do enjoy watching my girls play. But like I said I on the other hand truly have no desire to play any sport, but again being a spectator for my girls works perfectly for me π
massholemommy says
Too funny! I have some interest in sports, but only the ones I like. I like baseball, hockey and football. I hate basketball and soccer.

Robin, I couldn't help it and just not my thing. I tried for guys in the past and even for my husband, but thankfully Kevin loves me for me and I didn't have to try too hard!! π
stephrufa says
Very funny Janine. It's good you let the girls do what they want – I didn't expect to be a sports mom, either. I guess I didn't actually know what to expect but we have loved watching the kids grow and get better at their sports and Tris' dance/gymnastics. Just seeing them do what they love makes up for any of my discomfort.

dishofdailylife says
I was never a girly girl…you'd be more likely to find me playing soccer in my dress at recess (my mom made me wear dresses, I think she wanted a girly girl…haha) or climbing a tree. When my daughter did dance when she was little, I was not a good dance mom. I didn't know how to do hair or makeup. I still don't. She does though. Thankfully, she decided at a young age that dance was not for her, although if she had liked it, I would have learned to be a dance mom. I think we have to let kids follow their own paths, even if they are different from what we would have chosen for them.

I totally agree with you Michelle and have truly learned to let my girls find there own way on stuff like this. And like I said ironically as girly girl as I was dance mom was not for me either. I even got in trouble on here for sharing how I thought the damn glitter costume last year was a glitter nightmare. So, trust me totally didn't fit in there either. π
Karen says
that is SOOOOOO Me! I run from balls flying at me and my attempt to hit or catch is beyond laughable. As my mom say's "I't wet cannoli when it comes to sports". It's crazy that I have such a wild boy who gives me mini heart attacks with everything he does. He wants to get dirty, sweat, and play hard…I just want to sit, read, and sip tea.

Kenya G. Johnson says
Yep I could have wrote a post on this – but I've think I already shared the no sports mom in me either during football or basketball season. For one it's no way to be cute and play a sport (unless you are a little girl playing soccer). But as for me – vain about my hair – I never did anything but run track and my hair was awful. Even now my hair comes between me and a good workout. LOL! Not to mention what sitting outside in the elements to watch sports does to the hair.
Anyway side note: How did you get this to post to facebook via twitter via bloglovin?

I have BlogLovin Linked up to Twitter and Facebook and Twitter linked to Facebook. So somehow, they all work together to post up all my links. That said I am so glad it isn't just me and yes to all of the above including hating what the humid or rainy air does to my hair. Seriously so not a fan and even running track in high school I was so not a fan. I will admit to you here that I used y period more often then not to try to get me out of running back then.
tamaralikecamera says
Ah! Contempo Casuals! What a good memory.
I'm with you – no interest. I'm bad at organized anything, it seems. Religion, sports, nearly anything else. And yet I am organized. I just do things my own way.
I was terrible at sports then. I prefer to get my exercise at the dog park. Watching sports leaves me dead inside! Just on TV, though. Watching my kids or yours would be adorable!
My recent post Always Full Of Surprises.

It is official and I absolutely adore you (as if you didn't know this already?!!). seriously though I totally feel dead inside if I have to watch sports on TV, especially Football and could not have said that better if I try!! And if I could watch our kids play sports together now that would be heaven, because we would probably live close or at least be hanging out together π
Billybuc says
I have to run…the first thing that came to my mind was opera. LOL I don't know why…never been to one…but I'm sure in no hurry to go, either. Have a great day, Janine.
Janine Huldie says
Bill, not an opera fan here either and will completely agree with you on that one for sure. Have a wonderful day now, too!! π
@AnnaFitfunner says
It's fun to be a girly girl, and also great that your girls are interested in sports. I've seen sports really help younger girls with self-confidence. Of course, I have boys so I've spent a lot of time at soccer practices, basketball practices, swim practices…..

dribblesngrits says
My kids are pretty athletic, unlike me. I was always horrible in sports. Even sports I felt like I was good at, I wasn't. And I feel bad because I can't go shoot the basketball with my kid in a way where she'd actually learn anything from me. I have nothing to teach her except point with your finger when you shoot, something I remember from high school gym class. Or I can teach her how awesome it is to win because she beats me every time. Did I mention my daughter is 7? Yes, a seven year old can beat me at basketball. I just tell people I let her win on purpose.

Lisa @ Golden Spoons says
Ha! I'm the opposite. When I was younger, I played tennis, basketball, and softball. Now, my girls have very little interest in these conventional sports. I was thrilled when one of them decided to play soccer and not so thrilled when my youngest decided to take dance! π
My recent post Reentry
Janine Huldie says
Lisa, I thought I would love dance for the girls, but I realized pretty quickly that it was a huge commitment for them at such a young age with the practices, plus the recital. So, I guess I was shocked at how I felt about that in the end, but do love seeing my girls so excited with soccer and am a bit shocked by this still, too π
whisperingwriter says
Sports bore me as well. When people blabber on about football, my eyes glaze over. I just don't care.
Plus I'm no good at playing sports. I'm too clumsy.

lisang@expandng.com says
I don't have an interest in sports unless I've played them at one point, which would only be tennis. Though once I saw a paint ball tournament on TV and that actually looked interesting. And golf I've played, but have no interest in watching. But like you, if my kid played, I'd watch. Even if it were golf ;). What else I'm not interested in — trashy reality TV, or a lot of TV series that everyone seems to obsess over. I don't have a lot of time for TV these evenings!
Janine Huldie says
Lisa, I truly don't have a lot of time for TV either and sadly haven't been able to even read any books in the past two weeks either. Just wish there were more hours in the day now for all I would like to get done π

yes, it is amazing the things we are interested in when in the beginning of a relationship! (I actually invited Phyllis to go out dancing, when we were still dating! luckily it never came about, but I got 'credit' for the offer*)
*calculated risk, I would have done it, but glad that things worked out as they did!

Clark, you and Kevin would get along famously, he too is not a dancer in the least and even at our wedding held up pretty well at the bar versus keeping the dance floor occupied!! π
gigigirl says
I must say I share your intense disinterest in sports! The girlie girl thing is much more my style too. But the girls do well with soccer and that does not distract one bit from their "princess" persona. They are the women of the future! xxoo
Janine Huldie says
Aunt Gloria, like knowing that it truly isn’t just me and yet I know they definitely are women of the future xoxo π
nikkifrankhamilton says
So cool that although you are not a “player” you are your girls biggest supporter and cheerleader! I played sports all through school and some of college, started our kids in many sports and when they decided it was not for them we were more conflicted than they were. Oh well, no more hard bleacher seats for us.
Janine Huldie says
I guess it is just a personal preference, but still know I could never be out there on the field myself and yet love rooting them on and cheering for them still π
pfchico says
I am so with you on this one. First off, I love the Clueless references. I am not a sport's fan either. I do go to sporting events with my husband because going to a live action game is quite a bit more fun than watching it on television, but at the end of the day whether the Pats win or not will not make or destroy my day as it does to my husband. AS IF!
Janine Huldie says
Totally love that we agree on this too and I now that line, "As If", is truly classic Clueless!! π
Katia says
I hear you, Janine! I was playing soccer with Ben just today and then I kind of transcended the scene and was observing myself going "who woulda thunk it? Who is she???". I'm a girly girl too and sometimes it's interesting to wonder whether my experience as a mom of girls would've been totally different than my own π

I was never into sports at school – always dancing. Funny enough though, I wish I had been more into sports back then. I wish there had been fun running classes and fitness classes. Janine Huldie says
Happy to share these pics and Diana truly sounds like my type of girly girl for sure π
catherine gacad says
i totally relate! first, clueless: what a great movie and a perfect one for our time. secondly, i have really bad hand-eye coordination so i never did well in sports.
Janine Huldie says
Catherine, thank you for sharing and same here no hand-eye coordination and was a totally klutz! π
