My struggle to surprise my husband each year with gifts here is becoming more and more real.
Each time out brings new challenges to find the perfect gift for him for me.
Don’t get me wrong, he gives me a list of things to give me an idea, but still I hate just sticking to his list and always like to do something extra special to indeed surprise him.
On a recent trip to Target (yes I just can’t stay out of this store for more than a few days time here), I was picking up replacement toothpaste for our girls as they were running low.
While I was in the toothpaste aisle, I spied the Sonicare 2 Series Toothbrushes, which are available in white and black (new for 2015) handle colors, as well as exclusive colors to Target in red, green or blue. These toothbrushes remove up to 6X more plaque than a manual toothbrush for superior clean.
I will be honest and have actually had my eye on them for some time, but have put off buying them for us for some reason or another.
Low and behold, Sonicare 2 Series Toothbrushes were on sale.
Well, I couldn’t resist and purchased two of them. One for my husband and one for myself.
See the one thing that remains constant is when I can get him a gift that helps him be able to pamper himself and put his best face forward. And I truly was excited to be able to get this toothbrush to help give him a bit of pampering in the New Year now.
But since this is to be a surprise gift (shh…hope he doesn’t see this article!), I quickly decided I wanted to gift them in a clever way.

So, I continued on my shopping trip to find mason jars and then came up with an fun and exciting gift giving idea.
I also figured I would share here a tutorial for all thinking of a great DIY gift giving idea for their own significant other with His & Hers DIY Mason Jar Toothbrush Caddies.
His & Hers DIY Mason Jar Toothbrush Caddies Tutorial:
What You Will Need:
- 2 Large Sized Clear Mason Jars.
- Red Ribbon
- Letter Stencil Stickers
- Loved Themed Temporary Tattoo Package
Instructions:
- Start with new, clean and clear large mason jars.
- Cut the red ribbon to fit nicely to tie a bow around the rim of each mason jar.
- Next, label each mason jar–first one place the letter sticker stencils for “HIS” on it. Then, on the second, place the appropriate letter sticker stencils for “HERS” on that one.
- Once this is done, now you can begin to decorate with the love themed tattoos to embellish each mason jar.
- Now feel free to add floss, toothpaste and all necessary tooth brushing needs to each jar.
- Gift to your special someone with love!

Aw I love this idea! I love gifts that you can actually use every day and not just on special occasions. The mason jar gives it a special touch! This reminds me, I have not picked up a gift for my husband yet. π
Janine says
Janis, I couldn’t agree more and definitely a fan of gifts that are for everyday use. Thanks again Jhanis!! π
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
What a cute idea! I just got a Sonicare toothbrush for the hubs and he loves it π
Janine says
Robin, I loved seeing your take on this today, as well as that Christian loved the toothbrush as I can’t wait to see what Kevin thinks now π
Seana Turner says
Cute idea, Janine. I have a similar stress about what to get for my husband each year. He is HARD to come up with ideas for!!! My husband tends to brush his teeth in our downstairs bathroom, and I hate that he leaves his toothbrush out on the sink. Maybe I’ll make him a personalized holder!
Janine says
Yay and hope you can make this for your husband now, too!! π
Meredith says
Love this! Cute idea, Janine–fun way to sweeten up the bathroom sink π
Janine says
Thanks Meredith and love decorating with mason jars. So bringing the concept into the bathroom is definitely fun!! π
Dara says

Janine says
Thanks Dara and I agree definitely a mason jar lover here π
Amy Desrosiers says
I love mason jars too because they are so versatile! These really are great, portable gift ideas! Thanks for sharing! #client
Janine says
My pleasure for sharing and I know mason jars are truly the best for so much, including gift giving ideas. Thanks Amy π
Bill says
I was thinking back to when I was a kid and Mason jars were everywhere. No one thought to use them for decorations or as a part of a present. Now you pay top dollar for the old Mason jars. Anyway, an old man in his memories….be well and Happy Wednesday to you.
Janine says
Love your memories and seriously my grandmother was right when she said, “Keep stuff long enough and it will come back in style!” Happy Wednesday once again, Bill π
Camille says
I never would have thought of this, you’re so creative!!
Janine says
Aw, thanks Camille and I love mason jars here. sO this one was so much fun and so easy to make, too π
Shelly Maynard says
This is a super cute and sweet idea! These would look really great in our bathroom since it’s country-vintage style. I haven’t come up with a good gift idea for the hubs yet (nor will he give me any leads) so I may do this for him!
Janine says
Shelly, this was so easy, but fun to make. I hope you can try this for your husband now too for the holidays π
Leslie says
Why are men so difficult to shop for. Half the time when the Husband gives me a list of items he wants, they just don’t have the right ‘wow’ factor. Looks like you got a winner there! Mason jars are such a perfect vehicle for gift giving, too. The “his” and “hers” stencils are an adorable touch, too!
Janine says
Leslie, I wish I knew. Seriously mine will give me a list, but then if I stick to it still not totally happy as he does like to be surprised. So fingers crossed her will be now π
Bev says
These are so cute! I’m sure Kevin will love it π
Janine says
Thanks Bev and I got my fingers crossed now!! π
Jen says
Oooh how fun is this! I want to gift one too. I think my husband and I should have matching mason jars. I will have the red brush and he can have the blue! So cute, thanks sharing!
Janine says
Aw, my pleasure and same here with me getting the red and my husband getting the blue!! π
Tamara says
Aw, now that is special! You did a nice job. Cassidy and I both use Sonicare and would get them confused.
Now with the new colors (and yes, that sale is SUPER sweet), we have different colored ones, rather than just the different colored bands.
It helps a LOT.
Janine says
Aw, thank you so much Tamara and I agree different colors definitely help so much!! π
Aunt Gloria says
I love this gift idea. And I may use it in the future for gift giving, not necessarily for Christmas. I’m sure Kevin will love it! Love……xxoo
Janine says
Aw, so glad you can use this idea, too Aunt Gloria!! xoxo π
Alexa Haddock Bigwarfe says

Confessions of A Mommyaholic says
