“Are they Twins?”
Seems to be a consistent theme around my blog lately. Even this past weekend, while attending an advanced screening of Ratchet and Clank sponsored by SheKnows in NYC, I was asked this question as the girls were being photographed by a few fellow bloggers. But as much as I hear this, they most definitely aren’t.
While they do resemble each other, with only sixteen months separating them, they are the best of friends (most times) that is where their similarities end. Both girls have their own unique personalities and distinct identities. My older daughter is more or less the shy, quiet and reserved one, who usually needs time to get to know someone before feeling comfortable speaking up. My younger daughter is more outgoing, social and not afraid to speak up for herself. Yet, as soft spoken and introverted as my older daughter is, she is also fearless as they come, as far as seeking and trying out new adventures; whereas her younger sister is more cautious and prefers to think out the situation before proceeding. Even as their personalities continue to develop, I encourage them to be themselves, to do the right thing and be the best they can be. As I continue to stress the importance of individuality, I also remind them that at times they must work with others as a team to accomplish a specific goal.
So, when my family and I were given the opportunity to attend an advance screening of Ratchet and Clank The Movie held by SheKnows, I couldn’t have been happier to share this opportunity with them. As you may or may not be aware, Ratchet and Clank is based on the popular Playstation video game series, which my girls love to play with their father.
Not only did I feel it would it be a fun family day in NYC, but I also heard that this movie teaches some great life lessons regarding heroism, friendship, and even the importance of discovering one’s own identity. The story of Ratchet and Clank revolves around two unlikely heroes and tells of their struggles to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet, who is an inquisitive mechanic, is the last of his own kind, a Lombax, who grew up all alone and with no family of his own. Mostly thinking and acting on impulse, he set out to be a hero to save the day similar to that of my younger daughter’s impulsive nature; while Clank is a small robot, who definitely uses his brains more than anything else, which is more like my older daughter.
These two are clearly as opposite as day and night in personality like my own girls. Still they quickly become newfound friends, who then stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets. This is when, together, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy.

Therefore, not only did the movie appeal to the girls with characters they know and love, but also reinforced some life lessons that I have indeed been continually stressing here, including teaching them that they don’t have to do big things just right things to be a hero.
By the way, this movie also has an all-star cast with James Arnold as Ratchet, David Kane as Clank, Paul Giamatti as Chairman Drek, Rosario Dawson as Elaris, Bella Thorne as Cora, John Goodman as Grimroth and Sylvester Stallone as Victor Von Ion.
Additionally, this movie had something for Mom and Dad with a fun storyline to enjoy, as well as a great cast of actors lending their voices to the characters on screen.
Not only that, we had an awesome family time even before the movie began with a red carpet entrance and a shining cocktail food party mingling with other bloggers and their families, too.
Therefore, an entertaining and grand adventure was had by all of us. Thank you once again to SheKnows and Ratchet and Clank for allowing our family this wonderful opportunity.

My son is really looking forward to the movie. He played the original video game years ago so when he heard they were having a movie, he was super excited. I think I’m just as excited as he is and can’t wait to see it when we get back from our mini-vacation.
Janine says
Aw, you guys are totally going to enjoy and hope to hear what you thought when you do see it now π

Wow those are some great voices for the characters. I couldnβt wait to have a child to see animated movies with. Well I had about 10 good years and it appears to be over. Heβll watch stuff with me when it comes out on DVD but he didnβt want to go see Zootopia. So Iβm behind on animated movies.
Janine says
We saw Zootopia here, as well and will say it was a cute animated kids’ movie. But I figure my days will be numbered with animated movies here, too, but thankful that I am not quite there yet though still.

Janine,
I have never heard of this movie but I am all in for good movies that reinforce lessons we try to teach our kids. I love how you compared characters in the movie to your girls. I also love the pictures with your girls hands on their hips. I can just see some attitude sometimes.
I am going to have to take my special needs son. I think he would love it.
Many blessings,
Diane

I think Caleb would totally love this movie and I honestly love the way my girls posed for the red carpet photo for Carmen. One of my favorite pics of them recently to be honest. As for the lessons and comparing to my girls, it was just a natural progression that I completely had to share once it dawned on me.
Jen says
Holy cow that was an epic time! What an amazing experience your family can share now about that time you walked the red carpet and all π I love your nearly twinner girls. They/you should just start saying yes we are and see what happens!
Janine says
I think I agree and would love to see what happens if they did, Jen!! π
April G says
I haven’t heard of this movie, but I think it’s great to know that there’s something encouraging our kids to be their best.
Janine says
I couldn’t agree more, April π

Janine – I swear you do some of the most fun, awesome things because of your blog! You inspire me! Ah, I got all sidetracked a couple years ago when I went to grad school. And I have a confession to make: I miss blogging regularly so much – and the community of folks! In fact, I think I’m *supposed* to go in the direction I’m going with my blog – I hope to teach classes sometime soon. I hope, I hope. With folks like you in my life, I’ll stay inspired! Haha! I just love coming over here and seeing your enthusiasm and all-around awesomeness!
I hope you are having a wonderful day! xox
Janine says
Cyndi, I have to tell you I just love the opportunities I have gotten over the last few years blogging and for the most part do feel blessed. I am so excited though to hear that you are going to be blogging regularly now and got tons of faith that you are going to be able to make a business of this, as well with the direction you are going with meditating and such. Seriously adore you and got my fingers, toes and more crossed for you now!! Have a wonderful rest of your Monday now xoxo π

That definitely made a great family time! I haven’t watched a movie (in a moviehouse) with Reiko yet, at all. But that’s because I don’t really watch a lot of movies on theaters. LOL. Good to know you had some fun bonding time with your entire family. π
