My younger daughter constantly reminds me that she is going to be a YouTube Star when she grows up. See she loves to not only create her own videos, but loves watching other kids videos.
Actually so does my older daughter, too. So you could say that they like to keep this video fun all in the family!
That said my girls have so much fun with video in general here.
While I honestly shy away from video usually. See I am a blogger and writer. I love photography though.
So, last week both my girls had off from school for Winter Break. We were all about being laid back and taking each day as it came during the time off.
Still, I was looking for some fun, smile worthy activities to share together with them while they were off.
When I asked them for ideas of what they’d like to do, I got all sorts of suggestions.
But then I remembered I had a fun #GoldfishTales Box that I received recently complete with video props and a bag of yummy rainbow Goldfish Colors crackers.
I brought the kit in from the garage. My two were so excited. I proceeded to share with my girls how I needed some much needed video help.

See video creation, plus Goldfish Crackers to play with, as well feast on, too. They were in seventh heaven!
Therefore, my girls were totally up for the challenge. They really let their creative imaginations run wild on this one.
Here is how we came up with our fun-filled smile worthy, Goldfish Stop Motion Video…
1. Brainstorm like rock stars.
This was the initial planning stage. At this point, we discussed what they’d like do for their video. We also used GoldlfishSmiles.com to look at all the amazing Goldfish tales for inspiration. Then, we made a list of the fun activities we wanted to try.
2. Narrow down our ideas.
It was at this stage that we began checking off those fun activities. So, we slimmed down our possibilities to what was actually doable and/or feasible. But still made sure that our video creation would be fun to make.
3. Decision time.
After we paired down our ideas, then we finally settled on one idea to create our stop motion video around.
4. Set up our video space.
We used a cardboard box to set up our background. My older daughter actually designed our background using plain white paper and simple markers. She created a colorful psychedelic background. We then laid out our props on top of this background.
5. Ready, set, action.
Stop Motion requires taking photos each step of the way. My girls helped with the steps for each photo. Then, I took each photo by adding a new layer to each new photo.
6. Editing in process.
Once the photos are all taken, I uploaded them. I used iMovie. But the girls loved watching me piece each photo we shot together for the final stop motion video. It was here that the girls helped me design titles and add fun music, too.
7. Proudly share it!
Now, it is time to share it with others possibly family and friends on social media if need be.
See this was truly the perfect , smile worthy creative school vacation project that we were able to share together.

Nice!!!!! I have a goldfish post coming next week where we used them for art. And then ate them!
I made a stop motion video with goldfish last winter, and then just a fun video for them a few months ago. I had to make a less fun video yesterday and Scarlet was talking about how much fun the goldfish videos were. They were!!
Janine says
I agree with Scarlet as Goldfish videos are simply the best and so much fun!! π

I may have just been eating goldfish by the handful with my kids about an hour ago. They’re definitely a classic kids (or grown kids) treat. Love the idea of playing tic-tac-toe with them too. We’ll have to give this a try sometime.
Janine says
Aw, hope you do and I know what you mean about eating Goldfish by the handfuls as I have clearly done that many times myself, too π

I fell in love with the stop-motion feature on Instagram Stories but I have yet to master it. Your daughter is already youtube start in my eyes lol. Itβs taken me awhile to enjoy videos, I like recording them but I donβt enjoy editing. I still love Gold Fish, Gold Fish, and Animal Crackers will always be my jam. what a fun video!!!

These really DO taste like they’ve been blasted with extra cheddar! I’ll never eat the plain ones again! Delicious!
Janine says
I couldn’t agree more!!

This is so fun and just like your girls, Madison loves creating videos and looking at them too, and she’s also a big Tic-Tac-Toe fan. I will have to play it with goldfish with her next time.
Janine says
Ae, thanks AnnMarie and hope you can play with Madison soon, too now π
