With summer winding once again down and back to school almost upon us, we are slowly in prep mode for what is to come next week for our girls. We bought backpacks, school supplies, sneakers, clothes and more. Plus, we purchased more books to read, as well.
Still, my girls love to read even when school isn’t in session. See they are true bookworms! But with reading and books, this means we need bookmarks. This bookmark need is because my girls still love to read real and physical books. So, yes bookmarks are indeed required.
Plus, my older daughter had to make a bookmark for her summer school reading project. This kid read multiple books this summer. She even finished her summer reading book ages ago. But we put the bookmark creation off until recent times. We finished it in the last few days.
Therefore, we are indeed all about bookmarks here right now. Luckily, we came up with a carefree kid and family friendly bookmark craft. We used the concept of bookworms, because of the idea mentioned above of my kids being bookworms. Trust me simple, fun and perfect for all bookworms. Also, perfect for a back to school family friendly activity, too. With a few essential supplies, including googly eyes and cardstock paper, we were set to go!

Back to School Bookworms Bookmark DIY Craft
- Scrapbook paper or card stock
- Small giggly eyes
- Elmer’s glue
- Small 2-3” circle/lid, I used a bubble lid
- Trace your small circle lid onto a couple pieces of scrapbook paper so you have 5 circles.
- Cut out the circles with scissors.
- Start gluing the circles together in a wavy line.
- Glue two googly eyes onto the circle farthest right and draw a smiley face underneath.
- Let dry overnight and use as a bookmark.
See how easy that was! Again just in time for back to school and reading for all bookworms.
