Here is the thing, my girls and I are not big football fans. My husband, on the other hand, loves football. As far back as I can remember, my husband watched football on Sundays during football season. During our dating years, he tried to teach me a thing or two about football. No matter how much he tried, I honestly couldn’t get it nor could I care less.
Then, we got married and even then it wasn’t high on my list of things that impressed me. Next, we had our girls. I stress girls because they are indeed girls. These two don’t have any interest in football either.

However, the girls and I do enjoy the big game. For one, I love that this game symbolizes the end of another football season. Sorry, but for me, I couldn’t be happier. Plus, we are also one step closer to spring training and baseball season being back. OK, it is no secret baseball is my sport of choice.
But before the big game is over and in the books for another year, we do watch it as a family. Because I mean it is the big game after all.
But how do we view it and make it more family friendly?
Read on to find out now.
3 Simple Ways to Make the Big Game Family Friendly
1. Get crafty.
My girls are both queens of crafting. Seriously these two love drawing, coloring and pretty much any excuse to get to put these skills to the test. So, for those who are similar to them, a great way to make the big game more family friendly is to make signs for the big game.
You don’t need much. Some paper, crayons, markers and a bit of creative imagination will do. So, let their imaginations and creativity run wild here.
2. Play fun games.
Another thing my girls enjoy is playing games. So, to get their gaming on, we make predictions before the big game. The way we have done this in the past is to predict the score at the end of each quarter. Whoever is closest wins a fun surprise.
It is a pretty easy and straight forward way to keep the girls interested during the actual game. See they want to keep an eye on the score to see which one of us is winning each quarter.

3. Enjoy family-friendly snacks or foods.
Let’s face it; the big game is fun for all for the food aspect of it. I mean, of course, we make special snacks for the big game.
We happen to big-time snackers. So, I make sure to serve family-friendly foods. We are big on dips, cheese and crackers and other appetizers.
My girls also happen to love RITZ Crisp & Thins.
Why? They can’t get enough of how thin they are. Plus, I happen to be a fan of the simple fact that they are oven baked.
Plus, RITZ Crisp & Thins come in a variety of flavors, including Cream Cheese & Onion, as well as Sea Salt.
Right now, receive $.75 cash back when purchasing RITZ Crisp & Thins at Walmart by using this ibotta offer.
Plus, even if you don’t necessarily win at one of the family games played, you can still be a winner!

I love your ideas for the big game which I hear was a bit boring? Your girls are so cute and I can only imagine all the fun games and activities you do with them, Janine! I’m not a Superbowl fan, despite the popularity! The kids and I went to see a movie instead. 🙂
Janine says
Chris, I am with you on not being a fan. But we enjoy the family time, food and just overall fun times together 🙂
