For example, if a company has 4 to 5 years of experience, it should have accumulated several positive reviews from its customers. Avoid the company that has been around for a while, but only has a few positive reviews.

A contractor who gives warranties will charge a bit extra, but it will ensure your peace of mind in case the roof gets damaged down the road, or the installation wasn’t done correctly.
There are two types of warranties that you should ask for:
- Workmanship warranty: A workmanship warranty provides you with coverage against installation errors. It generally covers one year after the completion of work.
- Material warranty: Manufacturer material warranties often last for a period of 10 to 30 years. It covers the failures and defects of roofing materials.
You can either get a limited lifetime warranty or full coverage warranty. Limited lifetime warranty means that you are covered for around 50 years. However, the catch here is the word limited, which means that the warranty depreciates over time.
For example, for the first ten years, both labor and shingles are covered, but after ten years, only shingles will be covered, and after 20 years, you will have to cover a part of the cost.
Alternatively, you can opt for full coverage, which is going to cost you a bit more, but it will make sure that the manufacturer covers the entire cost in case something goes wrong.
Spend on roofing but wisely
