Getting your dollars worth on the Disney Dining Plan has never been easy. However, it has gotten a lot harder in recent years with many locations around Walt Disney World not participating. Many of the places we’d formerly like to use a snack credit on will no longer accept them. Fortunately, with a little bit of hunting, we have been able to find some good deals; And yes, you can still use your snack credits for the Dole Whip! Could you imagine…?
How to Use Your Snack Credits at Disney
Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Shrimp and Sweet Chili Sauce
That is a mouthful! This snack is really a small plate. The Baked Macaroni is good enough, but if you really want max value the shrimp and sweet chili sauce deliver at $6.69. This flavorful and hearty treat is available at Eight Spoons Cafe in the Animal Kingdom. Eight Spoon Cafe can be found on Discovery Island, the crossroads of the park.
Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Dole Whips in all forms is a pretty good value on the Disney Dining Plan and you can find them at a few different places around Disney World. You can even find their orange, lime and raspberry cousins around the Magic Kingdom. One treat, that brings the most value is only available at Aloha Isle, however. This is, of course, the Pineapple Upside Down Cake, which is topped by a generous swirl of Dole Whip. At $6.99 it’s no contest.
Dulce de Leche Milkshake
Another treat for $6.99, or one snack credit is just around the corner (sort of) at Golden Oaks Outpost. At you exit Adventureland from Pirate Plaza, you will come to a Frontierland themed structure that sells a few quick-service items, including the Dulce de Leche Milkshake. This is topped with Whipped Cream caramel and bacon!
Cheese Plate
Epcot has an always changing availability of snack credit uses by virtue of the many seasonal festivals held at the park. In addition, the quick service locations all around World Showcase offer various tastes of the permanent pavilions in the park. Combine that with the gourmet popcorn at the land pavilion and there is a lot to choose from. It’s hard to say at any given time who will have the best value. However, at $9.25 the Fromage (cheese plate) at Les Halles is high in the running. You can find it in the back of the France Pavilion… If you make it passed L’Artisan des Glaces.
Incredible Hero Sandwich
The most incredible deal is found in Pixar Place at Disney Hollywood Studios. The newly themed area celebrates the Incredibles with character meet and greets, dance parties, interactive games, merchandise, and food. The food part is why we are here because the Neighborhood Bakery has a $10.29 hero sandwich on the snack menu! This, like many other places in Disney World, is also a good location for a Pretzel with Cheese. However, instead of being shaped like Mickey Mouse, this pretzel is shaped like an Incredibles mask!
Additional Tips
As you look to stretch the value of your prepaid dining plan, aim to use your snack credits on items that are over $6 as often as possible. Whatever you do, don’t use them on bottled beverages. Another thing to keep in mind is how those snacks will affect your appetite at mealtime. You don’t want to get to your reservation the 50’s Prime Time Cafe and tell them you spoiled your appetite on cookies and ice cream.

This might be the first of your Disney articles which actually made me want to go to Disney World. LOL Yes, I have a sweet tooth, and I’m proud of it. π
Happy Thursday my friend. The weekend is almost here!

The Dulce de Leche Milkshake is my clear winner. BACON! I do LOVE a good cheese plate, though. Like.. religiously.
Last year we had two extra days in Disney World so we spent so much time sampling foods. This year, we only had the one day at Galaxy’s Edge. And while it was beyond magical, I did find myself missing living all things Disney. And now that I’m only a few days home, I want to cry thinking about all of it!

I know, bacon is seriously where it is at. At the Polynesian, they also have chocolate-covered bacon. These aren’t covered by snack credits, but happily have paid out of pocket, because I mean chocolate and bacon – how can you go wrong there?!! That said, I know that missing Disney and vacation feeling well and truly feel your pain right now. Hugs!! <3
