I have made no secret around here that I love summer time. The reasons, that I love summer, are numerous.
Also, I have made no qualms about sharing my loathing of winter for cold temperatures, snow and more.
But right about now, summer is about half way in now. Plus, we recently returned from our summer vacation at Disney World. It was definitely summer weather there. We also celebrated our older daughter’s eight year old birthday two days after we returned (more on that to come soon).
But not going to lie when I say I am a bit bummed after the coming back from our Disney summer vacation.
Luckily, I am currently planning a return sooner rather than later. But I digress on that now.
As for summer, even though it is indeed half way over, we still have half the summer left to enjoy.
So, I am trying to look at this all from the glass half full mentality not conversely the glass half empty mentality.
Therefore, I thought what better time then now to remind myself here why I do love summer while there is still time to enjoy it.
Below, check out my 5 reasons that I love summer…
1. No jackets or extra clothing needed.
Nothing to me is worse than having to put on a heavy jacket, hat, gloves, scarf, boots and more before exiting my home. Long drawn out winter months find me doing this and more.
But thankfully, summer months give a nice reprieve. Because it is during this time that I finally rewarded with not having to wear any of the above, including a jacket. Bonus, I can easily slip my feet into my flip flops and get cute pedicures, too!
2. Lazy summer mornings rule.
No rushing to get anyone out for school or before school activities. So, even though I get up before my gang to get some work done before they rise. I can also relax once my day is set up and my kids decide to actually get out of bed for the day.
Plus, I don’t have to concern myself with school outfits or hair for the day in a rush. With being the mom to two girls, trust me that this is a breath of fresh air!
3. No homework or after school activities to attend to.
Just like I don’t have to concern myself with early mornings for school, I also don’t have to worry about the dreaded homework needing to be done. Plus, there are no after school activities that I am needed to chauffeur anyone to and from.
4. The heat is on.
OK, many would probably think I am crazy for saying this. But give me the heat anyway of the week over snow or polar vortex cold temperatures. Honestly, I don’t mind being hot.
See I can easily cool down with air conditioning. But once I get cold, it takes a lot to warm me up again.

5. Yummy summer drinks can be enjoyed.
OK I am not one to overindulge often. But still, summer time has the best drinks and/or cocktails in my opinion. See give me anything with the glass half full mentality not conversely the glass half empty mentality and/or rum and I am a happy camper.
Bonus that sour and mint are a great way to also enjoy the summer with mojitos!
Therefore right about now, my glass is more than half full knowing that here there is almost 7 weeks left to enjoy of summer time before it is all over. So excuse me while I put my flip flip wearing feet up while relaxing enjoying a summer cocktail or two.
**Sidenote this was written for Finish the Sentence Friday, hosted by Kristi of Finding Ninee. This week’s sentence is “Summer’s half-way over, and I…”
Kristi Campbell says
Your drinks look amazing and OMG I can’t believe we have eight year olds! Your trip looks fabulous, as do all of your Disney trips. I can see why you keep going back. You, Kevin, and the girls are absolutely radiant. <3
Janine says
Aw, thanks Kristi and seriously Disney really is my happy place. As for the 8 year olds, I am still truly floored that the time just keeps flying by <3

Also LALAL FIRST COMMENT.

And yay to first comment, too!!! 🙂 🙂
Seana Turner says
You and I could hang out, Janine. I like the hot weather too… I don’t even mind the humidity. Everyone here thinks I’m nuts! I love so many of the same things. I was so happy that we could sleep in a bit and not rush out the door. Most folks here have their kids in camps and swim teams and the like, but I liked being outside on the patio in our pajamas:)
Janine says
Seana, I am so with you on this and I will also add that my girls are only this young for so long. So, I am trying to enjoy as much of summer time with them as I can each year up to this point so far, too! 🙂
Meredith Spidel says
Summer is the best! I love all these things too–and here’s to a whole other month of them! 🙂
Janine says
Omg, it really here and cheers to a whole other month left now, too!! 🙂
William Holland says
For a parent of young ones, summer is infinitely better than the school months. For me it means increased work. LOL I do understand your list, for sure, so I hope you have a great summer day.
Janine says
Aw, thanks Bill and wishing you a wonderful, Summer day ahead, too now 🙂
Dara says
Summer time is the best for sure!
Janine says
Aw, totally agree Dara!! 🙂

No secret that I actually prefer winter because I cannot stand the heat!! However, there are still plenty of good thing about summer – including all the other things on your list! I think I could deal with he heat if it meant lazy days and pina coladas all year round! 🙂
Janine says
Aw, me too Lisa, me too!! 🙂
Jen says
We are almost at the end of our summer. Boo 🙁 I love summer too. For many of the same reasons as yours. Twinners!
Janine says
Aw, love that we are Twinners! And here we are smack in the middle as we start summer vacation later (almost at the end of June). But still know it will be over soon enough. So enjoying as much as I can now! 🙂
Heather Burnett says
I need a LARGE mojito after looking at that box of school supplies!!! I’m with you on Disney! That’s one of my favorite places & I can’t wait to go back! (We return in November!!)
We only have two more weeks of “summer break” left…BOO…but here in Mississippi we will have summer heat until October. Maybe November. And sometimes December. But I say its over when I start having to wake up at 6:30 & take kids to school. Now that I think about it, I’m going to need two of those mojitos now!
Janine says
We are also looking into going back in the fall and I am also with you on those mojitos, too!! 🙂
Kerry says
Disney with the family. How fun. I don’t like being hot, but the summer drink thing sounds pretty nice to me right now. Enjoy your summer, or the rest of it.
Janine says
Aw, thanks Kerry and you, too!!! 🙂
Tamara says
I’m so with you as this is my favorite season by far. It’s our birthdays (mine is Tuesday!!) and not needing extra clothes just to go.. anywhere. I hate driving in the winter and dressing for winter and even breathing in the winter!
Don’t make me do it again!
Janine says
First off, Happy Early Birthday!! Second, I am so with you and I say we move to Florida for retirement, because I am seriously not doing this the older I get here!!
Kenya G. Johnson says
These are not my favorite days as far as temperatures go but I think I’d rather have the current temperature than afternoon activies and/or homework!
Janine says
I am so with you on no homework and after school activities, too!!
Jennifer Bly says
I love the summer because it means we can go to the LAKE! We live in a townhouse, so the extra space to play and run at the lake is welcome!
I don’t like the hot weather though. Our cars don’t have A/C and neither does our house. I can be kind of miserable on hot days. BUT I love the freedom of running outside in what you’re wearing (as opposed to getting decked out in a parka, boots, toque, mitts, etc.
Thanks for sharing! I hope you’re enjoying your summer to the max!
xoxo
Janine says
Aw, thank you too Jennifer and also hope you are enjoying your summer to the max, as well now!! 🙂 xoxo
Cynthia says
Summer drinks and the wonderfully glorious heat – I love, love summer! From camping to vacations, to lack of snow, I completely understand your perspective here. Hehe. It looks like you had so much fun at Disney, and I, too, love lazy summer days. I need to take advantage of these more often. 🙂
Sending you so many hugs and I hope you have a wonderful week! xox
Janine says
Love that we have this, too in common. I also though hope you take advantage of those lazy, summer days now. And also sending you so many hugs right back at you. Have a wonderful rest of the week now, as well xoxo <3
AnnMarie John says
I am going to admit here that I’m not very fond of summer. While I love vacationing in the summer, I prefer the cooler weather of fall and spring, although not the allergies that accompanies spring.
Janine says
I can’t help it and I just love summer – always have and always will 😉
Bev says
It will be interesting to see how summer compares next year since Eve starts preschool this fall, because right now summer doesn’t feel that different from other parts of the year (aside from it being hotter!. Plus we’ll have another baby, which is still kinda crazy to think about!
Janine says
Aw, so, so excited for you on the new baby and yes I think next year will be a bit different, but awesome, too 🙂
