“When I turn 7, can I stop growing up?”
I get asked at bedtime by my almost 6 year old, this question.
See she is always thinking. Plus she is hesitant about growing up too fast. Call it the Peter Pan syndrome, but still she wants to remain a kid as long as she can. Makes sense as she is my youngest. Plus she is also the typical younger sibling, who assumes the role as our baby milking it for all its worth.
Yet, she is as bright and even so much more advanced than most 6 year olds.
So, definitely playing on my heartstrings for effect. But, she is excited to celebrate her 6th birthday. Because she loves to be the center of attention and 6 isn’t 7 years old!
Also, she reminded me on a recent sick day off from school that I had to still interview for her annual birthday post. No worries, my little lady only had a virus and was back in school fine the next day.
But still here are her answers from that recent sick day…
[Tweet “My baby turns 6 next week!! Happy Birthday to her!!!!”]
Still to celebrate on my site, I wanted to share some of my baby’s favorites at age 6:
1. Favorite Color:
Blue!
Last year, she told me pink. But this year, she was emphatic that her favorite color is now blue. When I asked her to explain, she told me, “Just Blue”. I suspect this has something to still do many years later with Frozen as she still has a special place in her heart for Elsa and the blue color she wore in the now infamous Disney movie.
2. Favorite Movie:
This one also changed from Frozen (two years straight) to Disney’ Moana.
Why?
Because it opens on my girls actual birthday, November 23rd. Plus, she requested a movie theatre party to view this with friends and family. So we will be celebrating with her, finally getting to see the newest, Disney movie TODAY after school.
3. Favorite TV Show:
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. What can I say, but this one hasn’t changed from the time she was a baby. She still has a very special place in her little heart for Mickey.
See this heartfelt crush has not changed from the time she was a year old.
Plus having visited Disney 2 years in a row has only aided to her Mickey Mouse love!
4. Favorite Book:
My girl is now in 1st grade and is one of the top readers in her 1st grade class.
She even gets enrichment for reading. So, makes sense she is happily loving reading chapter books already. Her favorite now of the chapter books is the Owl Diaries Series. She sits reading quietly often now and begs me to get her new books pretty much daily, as well.
5. Favorite Song: Nothing new to report here as she was adamant that…
Let It Go – was still her favorite!
6. Favorite Drink:
Well, we finally got this little girl to drink water. Ok, still not plain water, but she at now drinks and enjoys Cherry Seltzer Water. I guess I should just be thankful for small favors!
7. Favorite Activity:
She in her second year of Daisies and also takes Acro/Jazz dance class on Fridays. When I asked which was her favorite, she told me dance. Why? Because she gets to be in her big sister’s class!
8. Favorite Thing to Eat:
She is still a pretty picky eater. But she will thankfully eat more now as she is getting older. When asked for her favorite, she proudly announced, “Pizza!” But on second thought, she decided chips.
When questioned further she said, “Tortilla” or “Doritos!”
Just when I thought she was done, she then added, “How about Mickey waffles?!”
9. Favorite Animal:
Puppies seem to rule and thankfully our doggy, Elsa is still tops in her book.
10. Favorite Clothes or Toys:
When I asked this question, she told me a “Monkey shirt”, which she doesn’t even own! And as for the toy that rules right now, is the pig stuffed animal she got from the Disney Store recently from the movie, Moana.
“6 Years Ago Today Though…”
Well, considering that Monday is once again my baby’s 6th birthday, thought you may like to read her birth story here.

Janine,
She is soooo adorable. I love seeing all her favorite things especially her Disney stuff. We are all super excited about going to Disney in January even more than Christmas. That is all my teens talk about. The good thing for me they are old enough to plan everything and they are so thrilled to do so. YEAH!
I HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT BIRTHDAY!
