For the last few years, we have spent a bit of time at Disney World in November. See my younger daughter’s birthday is November 23rd. Plus, we love kicking off the holiday season seeing Disney all decorated for Christmas. Trust me there is nothing like celebrating your birthday or Christmas-time at Disney World. Both together is simply magical!
[Tweet “Happy Belated 9th Birthday to my baby!!!”]
But up until this year, we weren’t at Disney World on my daughter’s actual birthday. See nine years ago, when I gave birth to my girl it was two days before Thanksgiving. So, last two years her birthday was either on Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday. We ideally like to be back home for Thanksgiving. We have indeed been there to celebrate her birthday, but just not on the actual date. Plus, we also have experienced Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Christmas at Disney for the last three years.
Yet this year, we got lucky. Her birthday was Saturday before Thanksgiving. Finally, my girl got to be in Disney World on her actual birthday. To say she was ecstatic would be an understatement. Plus, the following day after her birthday, we did an encore of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party back at the Magic Kingdom. Double Christmas Parties this year!
We were at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on Friday night. When the clock struck midnight and it became Saturday, we were still technically in the Magic Kingdom celebrating Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. On her actual birthday, we were at Epcot enjoying the final day of Food and Wine with very good friends. She got to ride one of her all-time favorite rides on her 9th birthday – Test Track (her request).
Overall, I think my girl’s 9th birthday was a Disney birthday success.
Even though she is indeed nine now for almost three weeks here on my blog, I am finally sharing her 9th birthday favorites. So, scroll to see what things are tops at 9 years old for my girl.
Nine-Year-Old Favorites
1. Favorite Color
Turquoise. This little lady has always loved the color blue. But as she is getting older, she still adores the color blue, but the shade of blue that is tops is now turquoise.
2. Favorite Movie
Mary Poppins. Right now, Disney+ is a new favorite for all of us. We added the streaming service on the first day it came out a few weeks back. So, thanks to, Disney+, as well as my older daughter’s 5th-grade class play being Mary Poppins. Both my girls are more than obsessed with Mary Poppins right now.
3. FAVORITE TV Show
Duck Tales. Even before Disney+ became a thing, my girls enjoyed Duck Tales on the Disney Channel. See this classic show was always a favorite of my husband’s when he was younger. So, he passed his love of Duck Tales onto my girls, especially my younger daughter.
4. FAVORITE Book
Trolls. My girl truly enjoys reading books. But one of her favorites and that she has re-read is the Trolls Movie book she got at her school’s book fair.
5. FAVORITE Song
A Spoon Full of Sugar. Yup, what can I say? May Poppins strikes again!
6. FAVORITE Drink
Ginger Ale. Of all the drinks she can request, Ginger Ale is the one that she looks for more often than not. Yet, she won’t ever pass up a special pink-colored drink like pink lemonade at Disney World either!
7. FAVORITE Activity
Play on the Monkey Bars at School. This one surprised me. But she was adamant that this one indeed topped her favorites list.
8. FAVORITE Things to Eat
Pizza. No surprise as this little lady is still my picky eater. So, I knew it would either be mac and cheese, pizza or chicken nuggets. But pizza lunch day at school is indeed one of her favorite meals. So much so that even if I forget it is pizza day at school, I can always tell by the amount of sauce or cheese she wears on her upon return from school later that day! Although, she still will never pass up dessert and ice cream after said favorite meal, too!
9. FAVORITE Animal
Turtles (before Disney). As a kid, my husband had a turtle stuffed animal. his childhood dog ended up getting ahold of it and sadly destroying it. But he did get a replacement. A few years ago, he ended up getting it back from his parent’s home. My youngest somehow ended up with it. This stuffed animal is a favorite of hers and why she now insists turtles are also her favorite, too. But upon return from Disney that all changed as my girl is now also in love with her new Forky stuffed animal that she bought for her birthday at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Toy Story Land. I mean who wouldn’t love a little Forky?!
10. FAVORITE Clothes/Toys
Unicorn Shirt. What can I say? But unicorns never seem to get old here in our home or even when meeting the most famous mouse in the house!
“9 Years Ago Though…”
I thought you’d like to read her birth story here.

I am blown away that she is nine years old. She was just a baby when you and I started following each other. Remarkable! You have done a fine job of raising those two lovely girls, Janine.
Happy Weekend my friend!

Aw, thanks, Dara and we also go in July for Emma’s birthday. But it is summer, not Christmas. So, it would appear she has one up on her big sis in that way LOL 😉
Jen says
Wait, she cannot be 9?! You absolutely have to tell your beautiful girl to stop growing. She will listen right?
What a special birthday. You guys are such an adorable family!
Janine says
Aw, thanks, Jen and I know, but sadly no one is listening to me about growing up LOL 🙂

NINE!!! One thing I love about my blogging friends is that we can watch our kids grow up together. It’s really amazing, and such a gift, you know? Also, wow. To celebrating nine at Disney is such a wonderful experience! She’ll (and all of you) will remember it forever. Also turtles! Yes!! Tucker wants a pet turtle. His cousin has one.
Janine says
Kristi, I couldn’t have said this better as I know for a fact that I have indeed been following your blog and Tucker since he was pretty much a baby here, too. So, love that we have watched each other’s kids grow up in our own spaces and always happy to share what I can here about mine, as well. Hugs and here is to baby turtles, too!!! 🙂
