I know for many that Back to School is in full swing now. Here in our home, we are two weeks out from when my girls go back to school. Therefore, we are doing all we can to enjoy the last that summer days have to offer.
We are Netflix subscribers here, as well. So, often we binge watch our favorites on Netflix together. Plus, it helps that recently we updated our living room seating options. The girls have a new favorite place to sit while binge watching Netflix. They snuggle into their Papasan chair with blanket and pillows. Our chair is large enough that we can all three fit in it, as well. Perfect place to spend some cozy mother-daughter time before the hustle and bustle that back to school will bring. My girls and I also love the Netflix show, , which debuted Season 6 on August 17th.
What is Spirit Riding Free?
It is a family-friendly show set during the 19th century in the small town of Miradero, Texas. The main character is a 12-year-old girl named Lucky. Lucky recently relocated from the city. It is here now that she encounters a wild Kiger mustang named, Spirit. Spirit gets caught by wranglers and brought to be “broken” in Miradero. But Lucky bonds with Spirit and frees him.
From here, Lucky also meets two other young girls similar in age. These two girls are as follows: Pru and Abigail. Both girls also own horses. Together with their horses, the girls embark on adventures throughout the land.
The show teaches a bit of history, geography, as well as friendship and more. Definitely a great show for mothers and daughters to watch together. And again perfect timing for us with Season 6 to enjoy before Back to School is indeed back in session.
What about a perfect Back to School and Spirit Riding Free snack?
My girls and I love popcorn for binge TV and movie viewing. So to that end, I am happily stock up at my local Walmart Pop Secret Popcorn Family Size (12 ct.). Our favorite is the Movie Theater Butter, as well as Homestyle. It makes us feel like we are experiencing movie theater popcorn from the comfort of our own home with the excellent butter taste.
Plus, Pop Secret is delicious and a high-quality snack that people can feel good about sharing with their family. What can I say, but it is also a way fun way to celebrate life’s simple joys with friends and family.
Back to the perfect snack though.
Once again, we enjoy popcorn mixes when we watch TV and movies here. Since back to school is right around the corner, I made Back to School Alphabet Popcorn Snack Mix Recipe.

Of course, I used the Pop Secret Movie Theater Butter, as well as Homestyle. Plus, I added Alphabet Crackers, Pretzels and M&Ms type Candy for this snack mix.
So easy as ABC’s to make and yummy, too.

My sister used to make something similar. She called it “Nuts and Bolts.” LOL I have no idea why.
Forest fire sky today, 94 degrees with no sun…miserable, miserable weather here.
So I wish you a better day on the east coast as we struggle to find good air to breathe.
Janine says
What an awesome name and love that, Bill! Here in NY, it is actually quite comfortable. The humidity left us on Sunday. But supposed to get warm again towards the end of the week. Still hoping that the weather moderates for you very soon. Happy Tuesday now!!

Such an easy and delicious treat. I love melting chocolate and even caramel on our popcorn, but adding some candy to the mix makes it even better.
Janine says
I love the idea of melting chocolate or caramel. But honestly even easier to just add regular chocolate or caramel without the extra step of melting 🙂
Gail says
This looks so yummy, I probably wouldn’t share it with my kids!
Janine says
LOL, Gail trust me I had a hard time sharing 😉
Tamara says

Kenya G. Johnson says
Ha to us both writing about popcorn? So how long do you think this would keep? Like if I made a this recipe on Monday for Christopher to snack on thru Friday after school? It would be hard for me to stay out of it though.
Janine says
I know I love that we both did. And this one actually held up with leftovers as we made more than enough for that. So, I think if you seal it in a Ziplock bag you should be fine saving it for a few days totally! 🙂
Aunt Gloria says
Al those popcorn mixes look yummy! I see Lily has lost her two front teeth! I’m sure the Tooth Fairy came to your house! xxoo
Janine says
Thanks Aunt Gloria and yes the tooth fairy did indeed make a visit here xoxo 🙂

Janine,
Your Snack mix looks like the perfect combinations. Nothing is better than chocolate and popcorn. When you add a little cheese to the mix with the Alphabet Letter Crackers it sounds even better.
I love your girls’ new chair. It looks so comfortable. I do not think I would ever want to move from that chair.
We are going to have to check out Spirit Riding FREE. It sounds great!
Janine says
Aw, I hope you can check Spirit Riding Free very soon and thank you always, my sweet friend 🙂
Pam says
