Always Eat After 7 PM – What I Learned This Past Month

This post is brought to you by our sponsor, “Always Eat After 7 PM”. The opinions expressed below are my own.

It was a long month for many and varied reasons. But, it was also a good month for keeping on task with our weight goals and more. See as I previously shared in my original article, as well as my second and my third updates, we had read and were following the plan set forth in the book, Always Eat After 7 PM, by Joel Marion.

So how did we do this last month?

This past month, we both lost weight (I am down 5 pounds and my husband lost 10 pounds). We also spent time as a family or enjoyed some much-needed me-time later in the day. How? Because our energy levels increased. Moreover, we walked daily around our neighborhood and had the stamina to do so. Plus, we have been sleeping better overall and once again staying up later at night. I, myself, now stream some of my favorite shows or read a book without falling asleep while doing so later in the evenings.

What did we actually do though?

We credit Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7PM program, which made our own dieting easy and eliminated 90% of the reasons for our resistance. We took seriously the part about eating the majority of our calories at night. See By following the Always Eat After 7PM program, we had the willpower to stay on the diet because we were indeed eating during the hours when we were most hungry. No longer, do I eat larger meals during the earlier portion of the day and pretty much skip my breakfast now, as well. My husband is doing the same, as well.

In fact, this late-night eating also curbed our calorie intake the next day. Our results lined up with the four-week study in which dieters added a snack to their daily regimen 90 minutes after dinner every night.  These same late-night eaters in this study ate an average of 397 fewer calories per day.

We even have had our fair share of carbs in the evening. Shocking I know, because most diets are truly against carbs and definitely not at night-time. But believe it or not, having carbs in the evening is also a great weight loss strategy. See when you’re active, your body burns mainly carbohydrates and muscle glycogen for energy. Therefore by eating carbs at night, you allow your body to use them to restore glycogen for energy the next day and provide your body with the glucose it needs to regulate your blood sugar levels during sleep. So, eating carbs at night is a good thing all around.

Because once again, we have not only lost weight but felt more energetic and better overall on a daily basis. So, the book doesn’t lie!
