Last weekend and this week were truly very busy indeed and will share all about it in my Thankful Things Portion of this article, as well as catch all up on this week’s blog article’s, too!
Now, without further ado, I want to share all about this week and my photos, too, by getting the party started with Ten Eleven Thankful Things (sorry I still managed to have a few to spare again this week)~
My Things of Thankful for This Week~
1. Friday night started off with a bang with Kevin carving the white pumpkin that he designated for Jack Skelington.
2. While Kevin was carving the above pumpkin, Lily came to sit with me to view some older videos of the girls on Kevin’s iPhone. Totally got to take a trip down memory lane and Lily was mesmerized by her younger self!
3. Saturday afternoon, Aunt Gloria visited and she book a copy of the book, Mother of All Meltdowns, that as most know I contributed to. I got to give my very, first autograph!
4. Saturday evening Kevin helped the girls carve their pumpkins at his parents house by carving Sleeping Beauty for Emma and Rapunzel for Lily. Princess pumpkin galore!
5. Saturday night, we came home to watch the new Cupcake Wars on Food Network with Rob Zombie, but Emma was complaining that she felt sick and need to throw up. Somehow, she made it through the episode, but a half hour after she laid down in bed, she got sick. Thankfully, she only threw up once and slept through the night.
6. Soccer was at 9:30 am in the morning again, but no game for a sick Emma, who now was running low grade fever. Kevin took Lily, while I stayed with Emma for a bit. My mom thankfully watched Emma, so I could see Lily play for a little while, where she got a small teddy bear from her coach for Halloween (they were allowed to dress up, too).
7. Sunday early afternoon found me taking Emma to the pediatrician. I am truly so happy they are open and have Sunday hours. Her doctor is such a nice man and even gave her a hug before we left. Happy to be told that the strep culture came back negative and just a virus apparently.
- 8. Later Sunday, the girls and Kevin painted the last remaining small pumpkins.
9. On Monday, Emma stayed home from school while Lily went. We were able to practice the letter “D” (the letter of the week at school), do her feather to be displayed in school, red her new Halloween Pinkalicious Book and even use our new subscription to K-5 Learning (thanks to the free reviewers’ subscription I was offered-the perks of running a blog!).
Getting to Do a Review with the Girls!!
10. Halloween, found Lily running a high fever the night before. With Emma having been sick on the weekend, it was only a matter of time, I suppose, but still felt so bad for Lily, because this is all she was taking about for weeks. The school allowed her to march in the little parade, but then she came home to sleep the rest of the afternoon. Emma got to do her parade, show, party at school and then Kevin took her trick-or-treating, while I stayed with Lily. I have only a few pictures from school, I can share sadly, because I did miss out on trick-or-treating. You might ask what I am thankful for with this, but truth be told, I am thankful Emma still had a great day and that Lily is at least somewhat better now.
11. One more for good measure and I am, of course, thankful again that weekend is indeed here and hoping to relax a bit, because now I am feeling a bit under the weather myself, too.
Now if you missed a moment of this week’s blog articles, here is a recap~

Now you have a birthday?! WOw … energy … glad mine is older now….although you have some awesome memories there! They are soooooooooo cute! Glad they feel better…take care of yourself this weekend!
Alecia says
Hope everyone is feeling better. We had the stomach thing run through the school a few weeks ago and now it's strep – so far no sickness in our house (fingers crossed). Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Alecia, we are slowly on the mend, but just can't believe how quickly this went through the house. I am totally in need of some relaxation after this week though and just hoping to find a small piece of it at some point. Have a great weekend, too 🙂
Janine Huldie says
I know believe me usually when one thing ends here something else is bound to be just around the corner, but yes I will be planning for a party, baking and even shopping very soon, because Lily will be 3 years old on November 23rd. God I can't believe how quick three years went. Just crazy! But thank you as always and hoping you too tare care this weekend 🙂
Michelle Liew says
My goodness, Kevin is talented! And congrats on your first autograph, J9!!! Many more to come!

not fair! with the family unit that you have (through semi-sickness and health, and ridiculously talented carving spouse), these Posts must write they own selfs… lol ( yes, I do know better than that… belated treat or (metaphorical) treat!!)
My recent post TToT Saturday, the 2nd of Dreary in the Season-of-NotSummer the Wakefield Doctrine (yeah, we can get whimsical too, ya know)
Janine Huldie says
Clark, couldn't believe how much I had to share this week. Have a feeling this week maybe a bit slower with all (except Kevin right now) feeling a bit under the weather, because we will definitely be staying close to home with two little sick girls. But this really was such a fun and easy post to write and share this week. Happy Saturday now my friend!! 🙂
Billybuc says
The pictures are priceless. Kevin is quite the artist, isn't he? And I get a huge thrill every time I sign one of my novels….so very cool, Janine!
Have a great weekend as I plan to do.
Janine Huldie says
Bill, I know Kevin really is a true artist and still so shocked at how amazing all his creations end up being. My pleasure totally sharing it here and I know what a great feeling it was to sign this book. Have a great weekend, too now!! 🙂
stephanie2006 says
I hope both your girls are feeling 100% again. Sorry that poor Lily missed the trick-or-treating, but glad Emma felt well enough again to go. Still love them in their cute little costumes 😉 You didn't promise too much, Kevin is definitely a pumpkin artist!! Tell him to do a Doctor Who one next year 😉
Hope you have a great weekend!! – oh and congrats on your first book signing 😉

All right-y. I guess I'll get on to my lesson plans. I've been blogging all morning and it's high time I get to work. Have a wonderful day, friend! 🙂

Awe, thanks so much Cyndi. My girls are still now 100% and taking them to the doctor this morning for pretty bad coughs. Just can't believe it is only November and already dealing with this. Kind of scared for the real cold weather now. But just so happy to see you hear and wishing you a great rest of the day now, too!! 🙂
Dyanne@IWantBacksies says
Your husband has some mad pumpkin carving skills! Yowza! Sorry to hear your girls had the crud this week. Hopefully you just got it over with early in the season and won't have any more sickness in the house (she says hopefully). Love the girls in their costumes! Aren't Halloween parades with preschoolers fun?
My recent post It Was An Alarming Week
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Dyanne and I know I really can’t believe sometimes how talented he is. And those pre-school parades are really indeed fun!! 🙂
day-with-kt.com says
Oh, poor Lily!!! I worked at an elementary school for years and always felt bad for the kids who were sick on Halloween (or any other party day) – especially when they are trying to gut out the day to make the party and can't do it. My youngest was sick on Halloween in kindergarten and was heart broken.
I hope that you can rest some this weekend and be back to 100% soon!!!
My recent post Being a Landlord is not for the Weak
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Kim and I let terrible for Lily. She seriously was talking about Halloween for over a month and then bam hours before the big day, she started to run a fever. She went to the pediatrician on Halloween and even was back there today for her fever is still with us. Just viral ad has to take its course, but still just hope she is better very soon and this fever goes away, because I am so tired of having to tell she will be better soon only to have the fever come back again when the Motrin/Tylenol wears off. And I am so sorry about your daughter back in Kindergarten, just so sad when they have to miss out on a big day like this.
Crafty Spices says
Wow that sure sounds like a very interesting week, not to mention this is a great re-cap of all your posts. Thanks and hope you are having a lovely weekend.

You should definitely put Kevin to work as a professional pumpkin carver! He's totally hired to do mine for the rest of eternity 🙂
The girls are absolutely adorable in their outfits. Thankfully Rey settle on Princess Jasmine instead of Superman. You have no idea how that would have driven me bonkers! Ugh!
I have missed your sweet face … which reminds me … SMILE dammit!
Love you!

I will so tell him this and sure his ego with get that much more inflated from it, lol! But seriously, Superman would have driven me crazy, too. Actually at first Lily wanted to be Minnie then said something about Mickey. I told her Mickey was a boy and boys dressed up as Mickey. Seemed to work for her and she even told the guy working at the Disney Store this when we went to look at the costumes after that! I love you too and I seriously didn't even realize I wasn't smiling!! 🙂

So sorry you're not feeling well!! Hope you are resting and feel better really soon!
Thanks for the oven roasted potatoes recipe. 🙂
My recent post 10 Steps to clear skin from a chronic acne sufferer
Janine Huldie says
Totally my pleasure with the recipe and as much as I tried to rest just had too much to do today, which included being back at the pediatrician's office today for 2 hours (another story for another time), but hoping tomorrow is quieter now for sure!
Sandy Ramsey says
I am sorry that the girls have not been feeling well and now you too. Tis the season, I know.
Your husband can carve a pumpkin or two! Wow! He's a keeper for that alone!
Sounds like another busy, busy week in the week of being you and how cool is it that you got to autograph a book! Lucky, lucky girl!
Glad the girls are on the mend and I hope you feel better soon!
My recent post TToT: Gratitude in Blogland & Bus Driving Heroes
Janine Huldie says
Tis the season and you are so right, Sandy. Seriously, hope that this is it for awhile and that once we are better we stay well for a bit, because it is a long winter and just afraid of what will come next. By the way, you are right though, Kevin is a keeper for his artistic skills and more. Thanks as always!! 🙂
lsdavidson says
Those pumpkins are UNREAL!!!! Such talent! Wow! And I'm trying your potatoes tomorrow!!
My recent post Halloween Wrap Up
Janine Huldie says
Awe, thanks Leah and definitely let me know how the potatoes turn out. And I am making them again with London Broil tomorrow night, too!! 🙂
tamaralikecamera says
I hope you gave Kevin a huge kiss for those amazing princess pumpkins!
And I hope everyone is on the mend.
We all four got colds but they were the weirdest colds ever. I almost would have thought mine was allergies but the symptoms mirrored Cassidy's. It was three days of a runny nose. No sore throat, coughing or exhaustion. And usually when I get a cold, it's 1-2 weeks. I swear I'm better now!
For the kids, it wasn't a runny nose but it was a weird cough. And they look fine and have color and appetites and are going about their business, but yucky coughing!
Weird!
I rambled. Miss you!
My recent post Ask Me Away!
Janine Huldie says
The coughs are the worst, Tamara and both girls now have coughs, too. But to have them with nothing else is a bit strange, but I assume anything during this time of year is fair game. Poor Lily was running a high fever again last night before bed and still viral as of yesterday at the doctor, so she got Motrin, cold compresses and just patiently waited for it to come down again. I loved those pumpkins and yes he got big kisses and huge props for those by the way!! Miss you too and you can ramble anytime here 🙂
Growing Up Madison says
Wow! Those pumpkins looks great! We didn't do any pumpkin carving this year but you did a great job on those pumpkins. Happy the kids are doing so much better, there's nothing like having a sick baby. Hope you're having a great weekend.
My recent post Review and Giveaway: Look Your Best with Kids Formal
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much and unfortunately we were back at the pediatrician today and Lily still running a fever. Still viral, but god I am just so ready for it to be gone now. I am so hoping that maybe I can say this for sure in the next day or two. But totally hoping you and your family are having a wonderful weekend now!! 🙂

Good heavens, your husband is talented! Those princess pumpkins look great! I'm sorry that bug is going through everyone in your house. It especially stinks when it's over a fun holiday.
Thanks for always linking up and joining in the comment conversations!

Always my pleasure linking up Christine and I know illness over a holiday like Halloween, which is truly a fun kids holiday never fun. Hoping you guys ar having a great weekend so far though.
Kristi says
I hope you are all feeling better soon! I remember my oldest son was sick on Halloween one year. It's such a terrible day for kids to be sick. Glad your girls both got to be in the school's parade, though.
My recent post Ten Things of Thankful: Coyotes and Bunny and Owl (Oh My!)

Thanks Kristi and I am truly hoping that we will have a better Halloween with no sickness next year at the very least. Just sorry your oldest was sick on Halloween one year and just no fun at all for anyone.
notinjersey says
hope everyone is feeling better and I'm sorry Lily missed trick or treating. my kids also like to watch old videos of themselves. I'm glad I saved them all on you tube! 🙂 oh, and we totally chose our current doctor because the office has sunday hours!
My recent post What I’ve Been Reading #33
Janine Huldie says
Dara, I love that they have Saturday and Sunday hours. Out old pediatrician had the worst hours and always seemed like I would have to opt for Urgent Care, because they were never there when my kids were indeed sick. One time, Lily had what looked like hives break out and was told I had to wait 4 hours before they would see her. I took her to urgent care immediately and thankfully I did, because she needed a steroid shot to get rid of them. One of the many reasons, we switched. And the old videos truly are priceless and with you glad we have them for the kids to indeed look back on.
Lizzi; Considerer (@LRConsiderer) says
So exciting that you got to give your first autograph! Very cool indeed.
I’m glad that you have the weekend to relax, and hope that you all manage to keep healing, rather than re-entering the cycle of sickness. That must’ve been a very trying week, and I’m so impressed you still managed 11 things of thankfulness 🙂 Great attitude – keep it up.
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Lizzi, I amy have a few less next week and right now pictures are a minimum, because I haven't really been able to do much with the girls having Lily running another high fever yesterday, but you know I try my best to find the good whenever I can, plus I love linking up with you all. Hoping you are having a better weekend then us and thanks seriously as always 🙂
Joy says
They are so beautiful! Glad they're feeling better, hopefully you are feeling better as well. We went through our battle the week before, that time of year! Glad they got to enjoy some Halloween things at least.
Congratulations on the book and book signing! That is exciting.
Happy Thankful Month, lots to be thankful for!
Janine Huldie says
Thank you so much Joy and today seems to be a better day right now for both, but we are staying in and not going anywhere, because it got very chilly today, too. And I agree, Happy Thankful month right back at you, too!! 🙂
Kelly says
This year we didn't even carve 1 pumpkin! I kept begging the kids to go get some and they kept putting me off with lofty promises of "later mom"…yeah right! Faldo promises:) LOL
That's what happens when they get a little older so enjoy it now Janine and Kevin! Lol
Janine Huldie says
Totally trying to enjoy it right now Kelly and will say I know my days are truly numbered and that is why losing this Halloween made me so sad with Lily, because I know there will come a time when she won't want to know me let alone trick-or-treat with me!
anothercleanslate says
Hope everyone is feeling back to normal! I'm impressed with Kevin's carving skills.
christyb says
Ohhh!! Kevin is one heck of a good carver of pumpkins 🙂 Lovin' the girls' costumes too. Cool about giving your first signature too – I remember how cool that is to do!!!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Christy and I know was such a cool feeling. And hoping you are having a great weekend now!! 😉
lizzy allan says
Oh wow, your hubby is really talented! I've never carved a pumpkin but I'm pretty sure he made it look a lot easier than it really is – great work! Love the idea of Halloween soccer. Your girls look super cute in their costumes for the school parade 🙂
My recent post It's Not Okay
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much Lizzy and I was just so happy that both girls got to go to the parade, because was never able to go trick-or-treating, because of her fever. So at the very least she got to participate in the parade.
dianeroark says
Your husband did such a great job carving all the pumpkins. Rupunzel and Aurora look amazing! I am so sorry that both girls were sick last week. I hope they are both doing better now. I love your list of things you are thankful for. I am also so thankful for each weekend I can spend some time with all my family.
Blessings and I hope you have a great week!

Janine Huldie says
Thanks Diane and I know I love the weekends for more down time to spend with my husband and kids, too. Here is to a great week ahead for us now!! 🙂
Kristi Campbell says
So sorry to hear that both girls ended up being a bit sick and that you're feeling under the weather now too. Tucker seems to have a bit of it as well. Sigh. And Kevin's pumpkin carving skills are AWESOME. Seriously, I'm so impressed! I bought a Scoobie Doo one but didn't do it because it just looked TOO HARD 😀 (I'm lazy).
The photos, as always, are fabulous.
Janine Huldie says
So sorry Kristi that Tucker has a touch of this and it pretty much ran through my whole house and now Kevin thinks he has a touch of it this morning. The girls and I are still coughing and just want to put myself us in a bubble until winter is over, because man it is only November 1st! And if I didn't have Kevin the stickers that we did on those pumpkins a few weeks ago would have sufficed, because I couldn't care a pumpkin to save my life either!
cgacad says
1. kevin is a pumpkin-carving genius.
2. that picture of you with your book: you look like you're just a teenager. whatever you're doing to your skin, keep doing it.
3. i hope lily is in tip-top shape after the weekend.
My recent post Money Monday: Real Estate Update
Janine Huldie says
One, thank you fpr saying that. Two, I love you even more and I seriously don't feel like a teen, but sure nice to hear like I look like one 🙂 And three, Lily finally is not running a fever today, but kept her home from pre-school just to make sure. And seriously thank you again 🙂
Kristina & Millie says
Wow! Love the pumpkins!
