Every year around this time, I can’t help, but share what I am thinking about my oldest’s birthday with my favorite thing to do here on my blog by asking her what her favorites are to see how much she has grown, changed and gotten older over the course of the year for her annual birthday post.
This year, my girl reminded me we actually had to do this post and started happily answering the questions at hand even before I had a chance to jot down her answers. So, I had to ask her again once I had my notepad ready to go.
This article was written about 2 or so weeks ago though and edited after we returned just slightly, as we were Disney bound (which is another story for another day) the week before her birthday (celebrating her birthday Disney style overtime) and just got back late Saturday afternoon the day before her actual 7th birthday (yesterday).

Disney Days for Us…
But still make no mistake, I am not only still on Disney time today, but also still a bit shell shocked and nostalgic, because I can’t help, but travel back those 7 years now to where it all began with me being a first time mom to this little girl, who was a once small but screaming, colicky baby that it is now so soft spoken and kind hearted as a growing girl could be.
But even though her birthday was actually this Sunday, I couldn’t resist as I have been sharing birthdays here with all though, since I started this blog and hope to do so for years to come.
If you are new here and missed last years’ answers to these same questions at 6 years old, click here.

Sisters celebrating last year’s birthday!
But now onto 7 years old with her new and updated answers…
My Oldest’s Favorites at 7 years old:
1. Favorite Color: Pink (Is that your final answer?)
My yellow girl, who became a pink girl now apparently is a blue girl this year. But on second thought, she is just as indecisive as her mother and made me change this last minute back to pink.
Seriously, she totally kept me on my toes with this first question!
2. Favorite Movie: The Descendants
My once Frozen obsessed girl is now into The Descendants Mal and Evie. Don’t get me wrong, she still was super happy to be going to Disney and getting to go on the newest Frozen ride in Epcot, but she is indeed growing up with her tastes evolving and maturing, too.

These two are wicked to the core just as Disney’s Descendants’ Mal and Evie
3. Favorite TV Show: Stuck in the Middle
She recently told her younger sister that Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is for babies and is not one for watching Disney Jr. anymore at 7 years old. She now watches Disney, but the pre-teen/teen shows. So,when asked her favorite, as of right now it is Stuck in the Middle.
4. Favorite Book: The Descendants
My girl is now reading chapter books as first grade has come to a completion. She also absolutely loves to read to and help her younger sister by a year to read and sound out when she does. Also, during one of the recent school book fairs, she chose The Descendants chapter book and it has now become one of her all time favorites, but then again she seems to just have a love for the wicked side this year.
5. Favorite Song: Rotten to the Core
This one totally changed and no longer is Olaf and summer king here as he has needed to move over and make room for the Rotten to the Core girls of The Descendants once again…
6. Favorite Thing to Drink: Strawberry Lemonade
Sticking to the pink theme, my girl loves lemonade, but it has to be pink by adding strawberries to it as it would seem this year out.
7. Favorite Thing She Likes to Do: Play Soccer
As soon as I asked her, she emphatically declared that playing soccer with her friends with her dad coaching is still up there and now her favorite thing to do.
8. Favorite Thing to Eat: Cake
Leave it to my girl to mimic Marie Antoinette! But seriously, this girl knows how to party and love having her cake and eat it, too!!

Celebrating Her 6th Birthday Last Year with Ice Cream Cake, too!
9. Favorite Animal: Puppy
Lucky for her we still got Elsa, even if she isn’t quite the little golden retriever puppy she once was!

Elsa once was a puppy last year
10. Favorite Thing to Wear: Her Hip Hop Dance Outfit
This past year she took Hip Hop dance and she honestly loved her recital outfit and still plays the hip hop version of her recital song, “It’s a Small World” whenever she can.

No More Baby at Almost 7 Years Old…
11. Favorite Job For When She Gets Older: Being a YouTuber
This one she made me add this year, as this is all she seems to talk about as she loves to video pretty much anything she can and document it for posterity and would love to become famous apparently on YouTube for this!
Happy 7th Birthday–We Love You So much!!

Happy Birthday Emma! Oh how the time flies. I’m laughing at her telling her sister that Disney Jr is for babies. Madison’s big brothers tell her the same thing but she still loves MMCH which is still her favorite show. I followed along and saw some of your Disney photos and I’m so jealous but we’re doing Disneyland in just a few weeks and back to Disney World next year. I’m super excited since we’ve never done Disneyland before. Here’s to a fantastic week!
Janine says
Aw, thanks and I already want to go back now, too and finding ways that I can make it happen sooner rather than later myself now!! 🙂
Katy says
Aw, happy birthday to your sweet girl! I like The Descendants, too, maybe not as much as she does. And, I LOVE cake! #happynowlinkup

The Descendants was a cute movie – my teen and I watched it together 🙂 Can’t wait to hear all about your Disney trip, although I did enjoy all your FB posts during the vacation!
Janine says
Thanks Dana and I truly loved being able to share all our photos daily on FB. I need to go through them better when I have time now and share a few of my favorites here, as well 😉
Marilyn says
Thank you for sharing this post. I love reading about your daughters and seeing pictures of them as they grow. They are adorable. Pink is my favorite color and I am an adult.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA

Aw, thank you so much Marilyn!!! 🙂

Janine says
Thanks Bev and I know total sign of the times indeed!! 🙂
Caryn says
Happy Bday to your baby. I can’t believe mine is 7, too. What’s funny is that his answers would be totally different than hers…all but the cake.
Janine says
Aw, love that your 7 year old would answer differently and thank you for the birthday wishes, too!! 🙂
Cynthia says
She’s gonna take after her momma! Haha. I love seeing how she’s growing and moving on to different tastes! What fun! And you already went to Disney! Wow. Time flies, no?
And Marie Antoninette. Yes. My maiden name is “Marietta.” And get this: it comes from Marie Antoinette! Yep, I’m related to her. (Very distant cousin, very, very, lol). But I say, LET THEM EAT CAKE! (I just had cobbler last night. Hahaha).
Happy Wednesday to you and Happy Birthday to Emma!
Janine says
Omg that is awesome that you are related to Marie Antoinette and definitely a great reason if I ever heard to eat cake! And yes we went to Disney and just got back late this past weekend. Although, I so just want to go back again as it really is just the happiest place in the world no matter what! Happy Wednesday once again right back at you!! 🙂
catherine gacad says
I love how Emma made you add #11. A famous Youtuber…I LOVE IT! Plus it is so adorable how her dad coaches her. That is true love and parenting! Finally…I just want to say that every time I see a picture of you, you do not look your age. You look like a teenager!
Janine says
Catherine, I already love you to pieces, but seriously the teenager comment puts me over the top. Thank you for that and so much more!!! 🙂
Jennifer | The Deliberate Mom says
Aww, I love that you do this! It’s so cool to get a snapshot of our children’s personalities year after year.
A You-Tuber hey?! Very interesting….
Happy belated 7th! What a sweetheart!
Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo
Janine says
Aw, thanks Jennifer and wishing you a lovely day, as well now too!! 🙂
Jen says
Happy, happy Birthday to your sweet girl! She is such a cutie with a lot of spunk. I like that! Hope she had a great one. With Disneyland in the mix I am pretty sure it was EPIC!
Janine says
Aw, thanks Jen and Disney indeed was just magical 😉
Tamara says
She’d be a great YouTuber for sure!
Scarlet also loves pink and also loves The Descendants over Frozen. Can you believe it? And I’m certain that BOTH of those movies will come out with sequels.
Oh, if only we could go to Disney when you do! We’re winter Disney-ers.
Our girls would be twins like we are.
Janine says
Tamara, I would love if we went to Disney at the same time at some point soon and seriously our girls are twins just like their mamas for sure!! 🙂
Leslie says
Ugh. I hate those Disney pre-teen shows. We’re still holding on to Disney Jr. as much as possible. Your girls are both still as adorable as ever, though. And I’m totally with her on not being able to decide a favorite color!
Janine says
Leslie, I am a pink girl, but you are right somedays even I waffle on this!! 🙂
April G says
So cute. I have never done this for my girls, even though I really should. Their birthdays are coming up (kinda). I think I’ll remember this questionnaire for them.
Janine says
Aw, hope you can do and really is a lot of fun to interview them each year for me in all honesty!! 🙂
REA says
It’s so cute that she wants to be a Youtuber. She can be a star soon! And yup. Looks like The Descendants won her this year. 😉 It’s always bittersweet to see our kids growing up so fast. Happy happy birthday to Emma!
Janine says
Thank you again, Rea and I know our kids are growing at lightening speed now!! 😉
Rabia @TheLiebers says
Strawberry lemonade is my drink of choice too. Try adding frozen strawberries to your lemonade in the blender and you can drink it like a slushie!!
Janine says
Ok so trying that now and thanks, Rabia!! 😉
