Here in NY we are knee deep in summer vacation, warm weather and more.
Also, as most know, I am happily a part of The Spectacular Summer Blog Hop.
Today’s post is my second and last contributing post for this awesome blog hop.
Have no fear though there is still much more to come with this blog hop and will be continuing to share the other amazing bloggers’ work here with you through the end of the month.
But now back to the issue at hand.
See soon enough the school bus will be pulling up once again in the mornings. Therefore, we will be back to school before we know.
I am trying to slowly prepare us for it in all sorts of ones.
One such way is a fun, but easy DIY craft activity that my kids could help me get to work.
This craft uses Washi Tape, which most who know me know just how much I love this stuff. Plus, my kids absolutely adore using tape for all purposes, especially Washi Tape.
The DIY craft, we are excited to share today is using Washi Tape to decorate a wooden chalkboard.
Chalkboards and school go hand-in-hand.
I actually found a small wooden chalkboard at my local craft store, AC Moore already put together and just waiting to be decorated.
Plus, what better way to get prepared than to get working on this craft.
DIY Washi Tape Chalkboard
• Small Wooden Chalk Board
• Washi Tapes
• Stickers (for added decoration)
- Start with a plain, small wooden chalkboard.
- Decorate with your favorite Washi Tapes.
- Added stickers for added decoration.
- Use your chalk to write on.
For all those back to school already or soon to be, I want to wish you a wonderful school year ahead now. Also, hope you are able to try this craft out with your kids soon, too.

I am happy to report I don’t miss school at all.
Have a tremendous Thursday, my friend. The heat has arrived and along with it smoky skies from forest fires up north.
Aw, try to stay cool and wishing you a very, Happy Thursday to you, too!! 🙂
Popped over from Jen’s place. This is adorable. Adorable.
Have a fabulous day. ☺
Thank you Sandee and hope you try to make this soon now 🙂
I have yet to dive into Washi Tape! I can hardly believe it myself but it’s true. I have so many crafting supplies I’ve forbidden myself from purchasing any more until the end of the year 🙁 Your chalkboard is adorable. maybe I should rethink this no-buying-craft-supplies rule 🙂
Aw, Mary I am addicted to Washi Tape and seriously keep trying come up with more Washi Tape ideas now LOL!! 🙂
I love all of your washi tape projects!
Thanks so much, Dara!! 🙂
Aw, I love this! I’ve been following along, but of course I get more excited if the post is from you or Jen. I can’t help my excitement!
Aw, thanks Tamara and you know the feeling is mutual with you, too 🙂

We actually start back to school on Monday here. Madison will begin her Kindergarten journey. This craft is super easy to make and we both can do it together. Maybe I just might and have her do her work on it for “fun”.
Wow, we don’t go back until after Labor Day next month. But still love the idea of having Madison do her work on this. But how is she already in kindergarten?! Seriously are kids are growing up too fast!!
This is super cute! We started BTS last week 🙁 Boo, but at least I had this cute tutorial to help!
AW, sorry you started back up, but glad this will help still 😉

The Washi tape makes the chalk board look so pretty! Great idea. I’m going to use the tape to freshen up some things…..thanks for the tips. Happy weekend! xxoo

Love Washi tape – it is affordable and you can do so much with it. Great little project if you are feeling like you’ve run out of things to do with the kids on summer days. Add a shopping trip for kids to pick out tape, and you can kill a little more time:)
Great idea, Seana and definitely also agree about Washi Tape here, too 🙂

Oh my goodness, this looks ridiculously cute!
For years there were washi tape crafts and I couldn’t find washi tape in our stores here. I would say in the past year it’s become VERY popular because it’s EVERYWHERE!
Love this Janine! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing for me and hope you can make this soon, too Jennifer!! xoxo 🙂
This is so super cute! We start school after labour day (but we are in school until last week of June!)
So do we Leah here and always amazed though how many other places start up way before us and end way earlier than us still!
