Here in NY we are knee deep in summer vacation, warm weather and more.
Also, as most know, I am happily a part of The Spectacular Summer Blog Hop.
Today’s post is my second and last contributing post for this awesome blog hop.
Have no fear though there is still much more to come with this blog hop and will be continuing to share the other amazing bloggers’ work here with you through the end of the month.
But now back to the issue at hand.
See soon enough the school bus will be pulling up once again in the mornings. Therefore, we will be back to school before we know.
I am trying to slowly prepare us for it in all sorts of ones.
One such way is a fun, but easy DIY craft activity that my kids could help me get to work.
This craft uses Washi Tape, which most who know me know just how much I love this stuff. Plus, my kids absolutely adore using tape for all purposes, especially Washi Tape.
The DIY craft, we are excited to share today is using Washi Tape to decorate a wooden chalkboard.
Chalkboards and school go hand-in-hand.
I actually found a small wooden chalkboard at my local craft store, AC Moore already put together and just waiting to be decorated.

Plus, what better way to get prepared than to get working on this craft.

I have yet to dive into Washi Tape! I can hardly believe it myself but it’s true. I have so many crafting supplies I’ve forbidden myself from purchasing any more until the end of the year 🙁 Your chalkboard is adorable. maybe I should rethink this no-buying-craft-supplies rule 🙂
Janine says
Aw, Mary I am addicted to Washi Tape and seriously keep trying come up with more Washi Tape ideas now LOL!! 🙂
Dara says

We actually start back to school on Monday here. Madison will begin her Kindergarten journey. This craft is super easy to make and we both can do it together. Maybe I just might and have her do her work on it for “fun”.
Janine says
Wow, we don’t go back until after Labor Day next month. But still love the idea of having Madison do her work on this. But how is she already in kindergarten?! Seriously are kids are growing up too fast!!
Jen says
This is super cute! We started BTS last week 🙁 Boo, but at least I had this cute tutorial to help!
Janine says
AW, sorry you started back up, but glad this will help still 😉

The Washi tape makes the chalk board look so pretty! Great idea. I’m going to use the tape to freshen up some things…..thanks for the tips. Happy weekend! xxoo
Janine says
Happy to share and Happy Weekend to you, too xoxo ?
Seana Turner says
Love Washi tape – it is affordable and you can do so much with it. Great little project if you are feeling like you’ve run out of things to do with the kids on summer days. Add a shopping trip for kids to pick out tape, and you can kill a little more time:)
Janine says
Great idea, Seana and definitely also agree about Washi Tape here, too 🙂
Jennifer Bly says
Oh my goodness, this looks ridiculously cute!
For years there were washi tape crafts and I couldn’t find washi tape in our stores here. I would say in the past year it’s become VERY popular because it’s EVERYWHERE!
Love this Janine! Thanks for sharing.
xoxo
Janine says
Thank you for sharing for me and hope you can make this soon, too Jennifer!! xoxo 🙂
Leah says
This is so super cute! We start school after labour day (but we are in school until last week of June!)
Janine says
So do we Leah here and always amazed though how many other places start up way before us and end way earlier than us still!
catherine gacad says
