Target was a needed stop today.
Why you might ask?
Because we were out of bandaids and not any type of bandaids, but Disney Princess and Strawberry Shortcake Bandaids.
Emma has school on Wednesdays, but Lily doesn’t. So she happily took the trip replenish the bandaids in our house.
Some point in the past I wrote this post below for my blog, but have added to it in light of recent events with my kids on this topic. So read on and indeed see our house’s take on bandaids as of late!!

Seriously – they are. We have like 20 boxes of bandaids in the house. I found some Monsters University ones on clearance at Target the other day & bought all the boxes they had! LOL.
My recent post I’ve Become My Mother
Janine Huldie says
Robin, I know I literally will buy no less then 2 boxes of bandaids at a time. And one time I forgot and had to go back to get them bandaids, because no bandaids equals some crazy times around these parts, lol!! 🙂
@Mrs_KarenC says
OMG…so true Janine…Dino even likes when I put plain bandaids on him and draw silly faces on them. I wonder what would happen if I walk around with bandaids all over my head…I don't think I would get the same reaction.
My recent post Let’s Get Organized Blog Hop #6
Janine Huldie says
Karen, I think they would cart us off to the loony bin if we did that. So definitely not the same effect, I suppose. But seriously love knowing it isn't just my kids!! 🙂
dishofdailylife says
That is so true! When my kids were little, we went through bandaids like they were candy. I think they put them on just to put them on!
My recent post Truth Can Be Stranger than Fiction
Janine Huldie says
Michelle, that is so the case here, too. My kids don't have cuts or anything wrong to actually require a bandaid it is really quite comical and just seems to be another daily event around these parts! 🙂
@scggirl says
We go through band-aids like water at our house and there is only one kid home most of the time. INSANE!
Janine Huldie says
I know it is insane and with two kids here, it is at the very least a minimum of 2 bandaids a day (one for each kid), but trust me it is more like 3 to 4 times that amount even on a good day!!
Rosey says
I didn't have to ask why when I read the title. Four kids, all band-aid lovers at one point in their lives. The cute designs make it worse, and as a mom, I cannot resist buying them, which feeds the fire. 😉
My recent post Howard B. Wigglebottom On Yes or No: A Fable About Trust
Janine Huldie says
I loved that you didn't have to ask why to this one and I know we definitely do feed into this one I suppose!! 🙂
Billybuc says
I guess this was true for my son. I was too busy running a store when he was young so I missed this…I do see a great many kids plastered with bandaids, though, so I’m sure you are right. Fun read, Janine! Have a wonderful Thursday!
Janine Huldie says
Bill, I know my kids are normal on this, but man is it interesting to see them fighting over getting a bandaid (a simple piece of adhesive). That said thank you my friend, as always and Happy Thursday now!! 🙂
nothingbythebook says
Best post title you've had for a long time. 🙂

NuggetOnABudget says
We haven't entered the Band-Aid stage just yet, thankfully, lol. But I know it'll be coming along soon enough! At least they do make cute ones for little kids. Although I'm not sure I like the idea of spending all that extra money for them to be used like stickers 🙂 A mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do though!
My recent post 10 useful tips for parents.
Janine Huldie says
Totally a mom's gotta to do what a mom's gotta do. Trust me yesterday alone the box kept Lily entertained for most of my Target shopping. So, there really is something to be said to helping at the very least keep our sanity at other times, too!
NuggetOnABudget says
Oh yes…I'm just starting to learn about pleasing my kids to keep my own sanity lol!
Janine Huldie says
Kera, i am sure we will have plenty of years to come with this, lol!! 🙂
tamaralikecamera says
Sometimes I think Scarlet is disappointed with "just a scrape" because that means no band-aids. So if you say, "Well how about a band-aid over it, just in case" her eyes totally light up and she bolts to the medicine cabinet. And we have princess ones, of course.
My recent post Test Shots.
Janine Huldie says
Tamara, scrape or not, my girls will whine until they get one, so it is just easier to give in and let them have a bandaid. Like you we now only have either Princess or Strawberry Shortcake for the girls, too!! 🙂
Sara says
I feel like my bathroom cabinet looks like a CVS with all the band aids we have. The hottest ones are Toy Story and Mickey Mouse.
My recent post Making Crayons From Pinterest
Janine Huldie says
Lily loves those Mickey Mouse bandaids, too (because she is addicted to Mickey and Minnie, too!). But you are so right my house definitely is shaping up to look like a drugstore with all those bandaids!! 🙂
Lauren says
Oh, I hear ya loud and clear!! Luckily mine have realized that Mama is not going to spend the extra money on those decorated bandaids anymore. I would get them and they would somehow find a way to use them all up in one day!! Now I just stick with regular ole brown boring ones and they only want one when it's totally necessary. What is with the addiction to the bandaids anyway?? lol crazy kids!!
My recent post Labor and Delivery
Janine Huldie says
I think that is the thing, they think they are like stickers for decoration, but the plain, old boring ones are no fun. So this may very well be a solution. Thanks for that Lauren!! 🙂
Dana says
One year when my daughter was about 4 or 5, we put band aids in her birthday party goody bags. Assorted cartoon characters – the kids loved them! I wish I had given boxes of band aids as gifts – what a hit that would be with the little ones!
My recent post What a difference a decade makes
Janine Huldie says
Ok, that might be the best goodie bag present I could imagine and think I may look into this for Lily's birthday in November. Seriously, thanks for the idea Dana!! 🙂
stephanie2006 says
I SO sympathize, the girls are so after band-aids. I put a stop to it, and only distribute them if there's blood somewhere. A bruise won't heal faster with a band-aid. Kisses and cuddles are a much better therapy for those 😉
Janine Huldie says
Stephanie, kisses and cuddles are great reward, but those damn bandaids are still do enticing and addictive apparently!! 🙂
Leah says
About 3 months ago my son needed a bandaid. I found one of those travelling containers in my purse and figured there would be one in there. I found one. It was a batman one. We haven't had the batman bandaids in about 7 years! I need to seriously clean my purse!! I love the title to this post too – it is so true!

Leah, I so need to clean out my purse, too. Seriously, I am the worst at this, as well!! 🙂
Chance of Wine says
It's funny – I can't get my child to keep a band aid on her if my life depended on it! She cut her finger last week and I was paranoid it would get infected, and had to put TWO Dora bandaids on her to keep it nice and secure, and even then she bit the tip of it off so she could remove it. Then again, it was on her right thumb, which she uses for the iPad, so I guess I can't blame her… 😉
My recent post I think Simon Cowell is kinda sexy

Believe it or not, Lily would have taken Cars bandaids from Target yesterday, as long as she could get more bandaids, lol!! 🙂
gigigirl says
Uh oh! First come the bandaids, then comes the jewelry! Think about it…bandaids are cheaper than diamonds! This is so cute and I really got a kick out of it. Vera said her great grandson also has the addiction! xxoo
Janine Huldie says
God help me Aunt Gloria and trying to stay as far from the jewelry and bling as much as possible!! But tell Vera thanks for letting me know her grandson is also addicted to bandaids, because seriously we need an intervention here or something, lol!! Love you xoxo!! 🙂
Lanaya says
LOL LOL LOL LOL — I could have written this post word for word! I swear, Reagan has to have band aids all the time. She falls, I need a band aid. She slams her finger, I need a band aid. I am sick to death of hearing the word band aid! LOL
We actually just purchased our own Disney Princess and Strawberry Shortcake band aids not more than a week ago! I swear … I'm going to start buying stock in the damn company!

One TIPsy Chick says
I remember this phase all too well! Funny thing is when my oldest was a toddler, she would rather have a limb dangling by a piece of flesh than to have any contact, whatsoever, with a bandaid. It was the weirdest thing because there wasn't any traumatic incident that lead to it. But that changed by age 4.

Same here my youngest wanted no part of bandaids only a year ago, but now closing in on 3 years old, she is obsessed!!
Cyndi says
Ha! I remember when I was a kid, they barely had "cool" band-aids. I was content with the flesh-colored ones and I would STILL put them on all over myself. LOL
Your two girls are always so cute! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, dawling. 🙂

what happened to the days when there was only one kind of band-aid—the skin colored one and that's it!? i definitely didn't want those things on me!
Janine Huldie says
Neither did I Catherine. Trust me, these are so much more like sticker then anything. Ours were more just want they were intended for and that was that!
@VioletImperfect says
I have a bit of a bandaid addiction….I buy them a lot. So much so that Marc cuts me off sometimes. 🙂

Oh gosh too true. Woe betides me if I don't have fun plasters (British word for Bandaids) for my kids at home.
Janine Huldie says
I honestly didn't know that is what they are called in GB and loved learning that. So thank you for sharing!! 🙂
mrsthaywood says
This is SO true! I have a hose with 3 Kiddies under 7 and I go through Band Aids like I can't even believe. I have 2 Girlies and a Boy which means I have to keep a supply of Girlie and boy designs…I even tried to but the MEGA Box (75 count) recently…it's almost gone and that was only a month ago…I must admit. I sometimes 'put a bandaid on it' simply to keep my sanity 🙂

I feel so lucky to have linked up at Honest Mom right behind you! Because I get to comment on something funny and sweet like your bandaid post. I must warn you — the Bitty Baby is crack and a gateway drug to the whole world of American Girl dolls so ocnsider yourself warned!!
Janine Huldie says
Thank you so much for saying that and we have the Bitty Baby, so yes I have now indeed paved the way for that. As my almost 90 year old uncle would say, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions!” 🙂
Jennifer says
Isn't it the truth? I remember my 'crack' addiction as a child. I would put about 10 bandaids on the smallest cut in the world. My kids are exactly the same, only I have four and they all want bandaids–even the teenagers. Thank you for hosting WW–I added your badge to my blog!

Oh, thanks so much Judy and be honest somedays I wish I never saw these types of bandaids!! But seriously, it is kind of funny how much they love something so simple as a bandaid!!
shitastrophy says
At least you have 2 girls. If my son gets injured and I try to put a girl bandaid on him…stuff is hitting the fan. I remember I needed bandaids and was at the store – my choice blue or pink camp. Ok, not my usual choice no big deal. One box of each. Well one of the kids used all theirs up and then needed another one. That child was NOT having it with the opposite sex's camo bandaids. Nope. Anarchy. I had to send the hubs next door to get regular boring bandaids. That was the last time I bought anything other than lame adult bandaids. Problem solved.
My recent post You Suck at Sucking it In

I never quite thought of it that way and that could really be a real pain in the butt! But I will say they fight over which damn princess they get. If one picked Cinderella and then of course the other wants it. Sounds like we just can't win no matter what!!
