CampusBookRentals to Help Ease the Biggest Lines I Have Ever Seen

Filed Under: BLOG, FTSF, Sponsored Posts Tagged With: CampusBookRentals, College Textbook Buying, Operation Smile, Rentback

Welcome back to Finish The Sentence Friday Blog Hop (FTSF).  We give you a sentence and you finish it (however long or short you’d like).  Please feel free to link up and follow any or all of our hostesses, which are below.

My Skewed View by Jen Kehl

And now for this week’s sentence to finish:  “I once saw the biggest…“

Next week’s sentence to finish: “We can either be traditional or non-traditional in the way we do things, I…”

I once saw the biggest…

Seriously what can I say for this prompt?

I am sitting here completely stumped for once on a FTSF prompt and wish I could come up with something, but then it dawned on me that I just was asked to share a bit more for CampusBookRentals.

See quite possibility the biggest thing I ever saw were the lines I dealt with when buying and returning books when I was in college that I discussed in full length here previously.

Seriously, I go shopping on Black Friday and those lines aren’t even as big, bad, scary as those lines were back in the day.

It honestly makes me wish that I was in college now for the sheer fact of the matter that Campusbookrentals now exists and has made that otherwise, crazy process of buying and returning books so much simpler and easier.

No more big and long lines. Now all you have to do is go to Campusbookrentals online to order your books before the semester starts and then return them for money when the semester ends and you are no longer in need of them.

For those who didn’t read my previous post and for those not familiar with Campusbookrentals, here are some more of the benefits in using them if you or a loved on is in college and in need of college textbooks:

  • save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
  • free shipping both ways
  • can highlight in the textbooks
  • flexible renting periods
  • they donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented

What is Operation Smile, you may be asking, if you didn’t click on the above link.

Well, Operations Smile is an organization that heals children’s smiles who are born with cleft palates, by forever changing their lives.  The statistics speak for themselves about cleft palates.  See every 3 minutes a child is born with a cleft palate, as well as one in ten of those children indeed born with this condition will die before their first birthday.  So, thanks to Operation Smile thousands of children are healed per year, who may not have been.

So, that this company has partnered with Operation Smile is a huge deal to me as the parent to two small little kids.

Last, but certainly not least they are still also running RentBack, which allows students to rent textbooks instead of buying them outright.  Again, this is truly awesome, because if you didn’t already hear it makes them 2-4x more money compared to what they’d make through buyback options or selling their books back at the end of the semester. Isn’t that awesome?!

So, for me it would be so simple and truly are going to make sure I keep this in mind for when my own kids are grown and need college textbooks, so quite possibly they will never need to know or live through those long college textbook buying and selling lines.

And for those would want to learn more about the CampusBookRentals process for their own college textbook needs, please take a look at the YouTube video below:

And also those wanting more on the RentBack Option, too, please take a look at this YouTube video:

Now that I told you my long line nightmares and shared a dream come true with CampusBookRentals today, please play along and tell us the biggest thing you have seen or dealt with today!

I'm first – yay! I worked in the bookstore in college and the lines were definitely out the door. I'll have to remember this company in a few (gulp) years.

Dana, I love that everyone fights over being first here on thursday nights and you totally won tonight hands down!! But seriously, I know I am going to blink with my girls and need this, just glad to know it exists!! 🙂

    January 16, 2014 at 10:09 pm

Wow! I'm first to comment! 🙂 Ah, those college book lines and registration lines. Wouldn't go back to those days if you paid me!! 🙂 Glad to know I wasn't the only one who had a hard time with this prompt and hope it's o.k. that Dana & I combined it with Ask Away!

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 16, 2014 at 10:25 pm

I love that you and Dana combined on this. Seriously, this one had me stumped for the whole week before this came to me. So, seriously glad it wash;t just me!! 🙂

Girl – I am so glad I don't need this. I remember what a pain in the butt it was. And then when I had to BUY a new one because used wasn't available. That hurt.

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 16, 2014 at 10:24 pm

Oh yeah buying new totally sucked and was so much more expensive. And totally glad I don't need this either right now, but know that soon enough (time just seems to fly) my girls will and happy I know about this site, because you better believe I will have them use this if need be!! 🙂

I think your dream is great and I remember those awful college book store lines. They SUCKED. I remember asking for the (cheaper) used books and them being gone. I'm so glad you did this for your BIG post. Also? OMG next week? Janine!!! Next week. I'm scared.

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 16, 2014 at 10:23 pm

Thanks Kristi for saying this and seriously was so at a loss for my answer here and then I got asked to share about textbook rentals and it just dawned on. Hope it didn't seem a cop out, but seriously those lines were massive and I remember standing on them for over 2 hours my freshman year in college. And next week, please don't get me started, haven't a clue how to even begin on that one! 🙂

  5. spiritedlife says

    January 16, 2014 at 10:27 pm

Considering I bought almost every book used and sometimes went without because I couldn't find one used, this would've been VERY helpful back then!

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 16, 2014 at 10:33 pm

I know April, totally could have been so useful back in the day for me, too!! 🙂

Where was Campus Book Rentals when we were going to school? What a great idea! Why didn't you and I come up with this, Janine? We'd be millionaires!

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 16, 2014 at 11:04 pm

I know Justin, we could be rich right about now! Seriously, why didn't this exist back then!! 🙂

  7. tamaralikecamera says

    January 16, 2014 at 10:56 pm

Nice tie-ins here! Don't you ever want to go back and time and do the whole college textbook thing all over again? I feel like I'd save thousands of dollars, and that's no exaggeration. And as you said, I'd have saved time spent standing on horrific lines at Rutgers.

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 16, 2014 at 11:05 pm

Tamara, this totally falls under the could of, would of, should of, category for me. And definitely would love to go back and save all that money, because seriously I wasted a ton of menu on college books and stood on crazy lines to boot!!

  8. kellylmckenzie says

    January 16, 2014 at 10:58 pm

Oh this is timely. Just heard from my son that he stood in line for a whole 6 minutes to get his books. He didn't get his online but he did manage to get them quickly. So very different from my day. I remember the hot September lineups. I'd always be wearing that new wool sweater. When I got to front of the line once the *&^# book was no longer in stock. So frustrating. I love the idea of Campus Book Rentals.
Also love the way you dealt with this prompt …

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 16, 2014 at 11:06 pm

Thanks Kelly and seriously six minutes for books! God I would have killed for that little wait time and I totally remember waiting for over two hours on one occasion. Not fun and seriously wish this existed back then!! 🙂

  9. dishofdailylife says

Those lines at the end of the semester to return the books were absolutely outrageous! But we all wanted (and needed) the cash!!

So true Michelle and definitely did not only want, but totally needed that money!

If my son goes to college in the States, then I'll definitely want to rent books through them. Thanks for sharing! Oh, and I forgot to tell you that both my teenage daughters own Pandora bracelets from my mom-in-law (the oldest got hers for her birthday a couple of years ago and the other one got hers now for Christmas) . I love the beautiful Pandora ads on your blog. They are a fabulous brand.

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 17, 2014 at 7:58 am

I know Robin, seriously I definitely wasted enough money on college books and even if I could return them never got back anywhere near as much as I paid for them!

Campus lines? OMG…I KNOW! It was awful. I don't have to do that anymore with my own online/hybrid campus classes thanks to amazon and being able to order from the library, but still…
I hope you have a great day, my friend. HUGS

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 17, 2014 at 8:13 am

So glad you don't have to do that anymore Cyndi and seriously those lines were crazy back in the day. Hugs right back at you and have a great weekend now!! 🙂

I went to an online college (I was old) but the best part about it was the books were all e-books. no lines, no waiting and only a $75 service fee per class!!!

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 17, 2014 at 9:55 am

That is awesome Kerri and my brother also did the online college route for his Master's degree. Definitely another option and thank you so much for sharing that here with me 🙂

Oh, boy do I remember those days. I remember at the end of each semester we'd be lined up trying to make a few bucks back by selling our books. Where were these awesome services back in the day? Genius!! They are one of the many improvements since the olden days when I was in school!! –Lisa

Not only did I have to stand in long lines to get my books for college and grad school, I also remember standing in line in high school to get books! No one likes standing in lines! Now if only there was a way to avoid lines for roller coasters…

    • Janine Huldie says

      January 17, 2014 at 3:51 pm

Ginny, I never had to for high school, so now I totally feel even worse for you, because I thought college was bad enough. And I know I really hate those roller coaster lines, too!! 🙂

I have been seeing a lot of the Campus Book Rentals posts lately and they're coming in handy because Krxssy starts college this fall. It is so much cheaper renting than buying but the ones we do have to buy, it's good to that rentback is available as well. Hope you had a great week!
