“Potty training bites!!” Yes I wrote this titled article and ironically within a few days of publishing it, Lily decided to pretty much be fully potty trained and be done with Pull-Ups. Hey, I am not complaining that they made me out to be the fool, because this type of being wrong is the kind I like!!
Most know I have two little girls and they are again only 16 months apart. But since starting this blog, I chronicled their potty training efforts here and will not bore the reader with what I have said already rather in this post I am going to be quite possibly concluding our potty training journey with today’s latest milestone.
For the past few days, Lily has not had a wet pull-up, morning, noon or during the night. She has been dry and no real accidents. She has also told me on a few occasions that she has to go to the potty for both peeing and pooping. It is like some Christmas miracle that just happened to come a little late, but who am I to turn a gift away late or not.
Proud Day for Potty Training–No More Pull-Ups!!I seriously thought I would be supporting Huggies Princess/Minnie Mouse Pull-ups for the rest of my life at the rate I was going, but after seeing her recent accomplishments, we decided to let her stay in just her new Minnie Mouse Underwear that Santa brought for her.
Lily was so very proud of this and also so happy, because the kid is cuckoo for Minnie Mouse, so to be able to wear Minnie all day without the possibility of having to change to wear Princess was, I suppose, quite appealing.
No joke, whoever in Huggies got the bright idea to make the Pull-Ups bag half Minnie Mouse and half Cinderella should be shot, because Lily loves both, but seems to have more of an obsession (bordering on stalking) with Minnie Mouse. Do you know how many times she would need to change her pull-up for wetting it in the past and would throw an absolute fit of mega proportions, because we only had Cinderella, not Minnie Mouse left? Oh I seriously kid you not that I was so close to calling Huggies to file a complaint and even contemplated tape recording her screaming to let them hear what I have heard too many times that I lost count.
But alas, it looks like those days are behind us and thank you Santa Claus for bringing us Minnie Mouse underwear from Target for Christmas this year, because they seem to have done the trick.
Now I have two little girls, who are for the most part potty trained. After, Emma was potty trained, I saw I was spending less on diapers and pull-ups. That was a nice drop in money spent, but was still buying for Lily, diapers at first and then pull-ups. Now, I can hopefully not have to spend anymore money on pull-ups. Sorry Huggies (not really), but thank god this family will no longer be supporting you anymore! So checkmate, we are done with Huggies Pull-ups!!
That said dear readers fear not, because even though my girls are potty trained or house broken for those of you will pets (hey I am trying to relate to all!), I am sure we will have more toilet tales to tell in the New Year. So fear not, because this is so not the end of the bathroom adventures and probably just the beginning!!

And successfully.
You can actually see a reaction in a pet (say, for instance, a dog), when you come home and they have, in fact waited to be let out! I would put on a show of looking around in the area, (for signs of non-housebroken-ness) and not finding anything would act pleasantly surprised, and the tail would be wagging the whole time.

Thanks Clark and so glad I was able to relate to the masses and not just those with kids 🙂 🙂
Meredith says
I'm so happy for you that you kicked those pull-ups to the curb (darn 1/2 Cinderella and 1/2 Minnie packs!). This is awesome and huge–congrats, Janine!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Meredith and I never would have thought the half/half would have been an issue, because she does like both characters, but wow did she really put up a fight for Cinderella. Who have thought, lol!! 🙂
Katherines Corner says
big step, congrats to your little one. Happy New Year wishes and thank you for sharing at the hop. I hope you will stop by again soon. I posted the new giveaway! xo
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Katherine. My pleasure to share in the hop (thank you for hosting) and will totally head over to the new giveaway in a few. Thanks again 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Amy and I agree with you on the toilet tales being never ending. Trust more I will have more to come, lol!! 🙂
Bill says
I actually remember back to my son and this moment coming, and what a big deal it was, and how surprised I was that it just suddenly happened. Very cool Janine; another parenting hurdle conquered. 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Bill and it is a moment I think I truly hope I don't forget. And just so glad I am writing this blog, because I have it now written somewhere to remind myself, plus the 1 Snap a Day picture, too 🙂 🙂
Cyndi says
Yay for housebroken kids! HAHAH. Okay, so yeah, I have a dog and two cats. LOLOL. What a milestone and a nice "clean" one at that. 😉
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Cyndi and tried to relate to those with no kids, but pets, lol 🙂 But so happy that it appears that she is indeed housebroken!!!

Newest follower. I just can't seem to get either of my girls to use the potty. They are 19 months apart. grr
Janine Huldie says
Oh thank you Jennifer for following me back. My first was much harder than my second. Since Emma has been potty trained, Lily seemed to want to do what Emma was doing, but trust me we had out fair share of moments here and can relate!!
Lanaya @ Raising Rea says
WooHoo! Congratulations! Potty training is crazy! My mother bought Reagan her first pair of big girl panties and I am so glad that putting her in those sped up the process!
Thank you for linking to Raising Imperfection!
Please come back Friday to see if you were featured 🙂

Oh thanks so much Lanaya and you are right about the big girl underwear speeding things up, because that seemed to happen for both of my girls now. I will definitely check back on Friday and thanks so very much again 🙂 🙂
Emily says
Congrats on this milestone! I'll keep my fingers crossed for an accident-free 2013!!
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks so much Emily and my fingers and everything else is crossed around here, too lol!! 🙂 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Lol, Terrye. I have frequented so many fine restrooms already with Emma and Lily by extension so I am a bit of an old pro at this one!! 🙂 🙂
Lori Claxton Vintile says
when potty training my oldest (who is now 5) I'd had enough of cleaning up pee so I sent her outside without pants on to "help" Hubs shovel some mulch. 5 minutes later he comes back in looking for a plastic garbage bag because she took a dump in the yard. I could barely contain my laughter and promptly posted it on Facebook.
I'm terrified of starting the potty training for the twins.
Janine Huldie says
Lol, I have had my fair share of pooping tale, but Lori I think that one takes the cake. As for potty training, it is somewhat bittersweet I suppose, but kind of happy that I will not have to go through it again with another child, so I do feel your pain about having to go through it with your twins. I only had to do one at a time, so I can't even imagine!! Thanks though and wishing you an easy go at it this time out!!
Camilleta says
Congrats, yay for big kid undies! I remember when my daughter was potty-training, my puppy was also being house-trained. It was an awful time, the whole house smelled like pee, lol!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Camille and at these your daughter and dog where trained together and are both now trained 🙂 But I do know what you mean about that smell. My older daughter had the worst aim in the beginning with the potty seat insert and would have to clean it everyday just to keep from the smell lingering!
Camilleta says
My daughter had taken her diaper off a few times and peed on the floor. The puppy smelled it and thought it was a signal that he was supposed to pee there too lol.
Forgetful Momma says
Good for her! We both have a major Mickey Mouse/Minnie lover and are potty training. She gets Mickey/Minnie stickers for using the potty. 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks forgetful momma and happy to know my kid isn't the only but for Mickey/Minnie Mouse!! 🙂 😉
Janine Huldie says
Lol, that sounds about right. My in-laws dog would have done the same thing. Got to be a dog thing 🙂 🙂
Jennifer Beznoska Mc says
I never used pull-ups on my kids. I figured that just because they could be pulled up and down like underwear, it was still a diaper to the kids (not to mention, I was tired of buying them by that time). Congratulations on your potty training success. That is another job, all in itself. 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Jennifer and will say this the underwear always did seem to speed things up a bit around here.
Angel says
Awesome!
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks so much Angel!! 🙂
