Every year at this time, a very good friend of mine has her annual Cookie Swap Party. This party is something I look forward to annually. Not only do we each try our hand at baking a cookie concoction for this event. But we play games, eat yummy food, participate in a fun holiday-themed grab bag and more.

The following year, I made the easiest shortbread cookies. Again, I blogged about this cookie recipe. Which to this day is probably one of my most well-received recipes and overall articles.

So, this year, the cookie stakes were high. Which cookie would I make? Well, last year I had tried a new cookie recipe for my family well after the cookie swap party. My daughters loved this cookie so much. Because they were made with melted chocolate chips and rolled in powdered sugar. I mean what is not to love about chocolate and powdered sugar?

When the time came for deciding upon a cookie for this year’s current Cookie Swap Party, I knew what cookie I needed to bake. That’s right, chocolate crinkle cookies were it.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Recipe

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Additional Time: 2 hours
Total Time: 2 hours 32 minutes

Chocolate and a delightful cookie that is covered in powdered sugar for cookie baking season and more.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, cut up
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the chips and butter. Microwave in 30-sec. intervals, until butter melts. Stir until smooth. Step 1
  2. With a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the granulated sugar, eggs, and extract until smooth. Mix in chocolate mixture, baking powder, and salt. Beat in the flour until combined. Cover and refrigerate dough 2 hours. Step 5
  3. Preheat oven to 325°F. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment. Place the confectioners’ sugar in a wide bowl. Step 7
  4. Scoop and roll dough into 1-inch balls. Step 8
  5. Roll in confectioners’ sugar until well coated. Step 9
  6. Place on cookie sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake 10‒12 min., until tops look set. Step 10
