*I was compensated by Lysine to review their product for cold sore use. But all opinions are expressly my own here.
Last week, we hit record breaking warm temperature highs here in NY.
Then only days later, the temperature took a nose dive falling almost 40 degrees.
This only confirmed what I already knew though.
But what would that be?
Well even though it is still fall, winter is just a natural phenomenon that it coming whether I like it or not.
See mostly I am not a fan as most know around here.
So with the weather indeed changing and cold/flu season upon us, all sorts of ailments are also naturally just bound to be waiting right around the corner.
That said, one of the many things that could befall us is cold sores.

Therefore, I read on to find out how to prevent and/or treat cold sores…
1. Protect your lips.
2. Keep stress low.
3. Avoid touching lips.

So this week and last week we had record highs and it was so hot!! I was like when is Fall going to finally get here? Then last night it rained, a lot, like an intense shake the house rain, so hoping we finally cool down. I did not know about lip clear Lysine. Awesome! Love the crock pot for mashed potatoes. I never heard about lysine… I wonder if lysine-rich foods would help with canker sores as well. People tend to get one or the other, at least that’s what I’ve heard.
Janine says
Seana, from what I read when I was writing this, I do believe lysine could help, as well with canker sores. So, I don’t think it could hurt to try it for that, as well.

Bill, those warm temperatures are leaving again later today. So don’t be too jealous and I am pretty sure we will be paying for this come January and February still. So there is that! But happy to share the recipe with you and Happy Thursday now, as well 🙂

Good tips….and the potatoes sound delish! I will have to try the recipe, maybe for one of our pot luck dinners in FL.
I try to keep my lips moist and always used lipstick to help. Cold sores are horrendous….hope to keep them away!

Janine,
I will definitely be purchasing some Lysine soon. My husband and my mother in law get cold sores several times a year. They are painful and annoying.
I love that you used your slow cooker to make mashed potatoes. It is my favorite way to prepare them. Most of the time I do not even remove the skin. I cook, mash and serve the potatoes all in the slow cooker.
Thanks for sharing!
Diane

So sorry to hear about your husband and mother suffering from cold sores, but glad to share lysine with you for them. And I also sometimes make my mashed potatoes with he skin and all, but for this one I decided to share without. But seriously love my crockpot for this recipe and so many more, as well!! 🙂
Mary says
Thank God I’ve never had a cold sore, but I also know they are easy to get and more than annoying. I’m going to utilize all of these tips Janine. That lip care set looks awesome; I don’t have a cold sore story 🙁 but I’m looking forward to reading about others stories. I’m sure there are some crazy ones.
Janine says
Glad to hear you haven’t suffered from cold sores. And I admit I have only had very limited in my 39 years, but when I did have one, it was very painful indeed, Mary.
Christine Carter says
Oooh, I love that easy mashed potato recipe Janine! So you just put the potatoes in there with nothing else to cook? Huh. Who knew? I am SO on it!
Also- I used to get TERRIBLE cold sores all the time, through my twenties and thirties- and now I only get them once in a while thank GOD. I don’t know what changed- but I am SO glad it’s not as bad. I need to definitely look into getting this for my lips and my kids have had them too- so it would be helpful to have on hand.
Janine says
I know definitely is just that simple. Also hope you don’t get any cold sores now, but if you do glad to share about Lysine with you.
