The Beatles truly said it best with this song and this year more then ever I can’t help, but feel that it has been years since we last saw the sun and warm weather having experienced the polar vortex and snow galore for months on end

And yet, when we finally experienced 80 plus degrees on Mother’s Day weekend, I think part of me was still in complete shock that the ice was slowly and surely melting away to a perfect summer like day.

I even had to pull out a pair of shorts to wear from my closet that I had stored from last summer.  Kevin actually laughed at me, because he keeps a pair out all year long even though truth be told this was the first time in 2014 he wore a pair of shorts outside again.

My girls have brand new summer clothes thanks to a recent shopping spree I spent on them to get them the next size clothing, since they have indeed grown since last year ( a hazard of being a kid-growing out of clothes each season).  So, it was as easy as cutting some tags finally off said clothes and breaking them in.

What better way to celebrate the warm weather then finally getting to go to our local park and getting some much needed sunshine and exercise, too.

We spent a good part of the afternoon chasing the sunshine and enjoying all the perks it had to offer.

So, I thought I would share some photos that were actually taken by Kevin with his Canon DSLR.  I love when he takes photos, because he always captures the moment quite perfectly and still am quite amazed at his mad skills with a DSLR camera.

He caught many smiling faces, as well as some not so smiling faces in Lily, who was annoyed at Emma at one point for not going down the little slide with her (she is afraid of the bigger slides still), because Emma opted for the aforementioned feared big slide.

But overall was it just alright, because here finally came the sun for us!

      April, I seriously can't believe how quickly they are growing up. And if you do look into getting a camera, I admit there is nothing like the Canon DLSR. Still by far takes the best pictures here for us 🙂

    Lovely photos! We've had a lot of sun out here too. It's getting too hot to my liking actually. Today we were at 35°c. But still better than rain!

      Ok, I am crazy, but totally jealous of that 97 degrees, because I love the hot weather and as I said to Jhanis, the hotter, the better for me!

      I couldn't agree with you more and the sun so a welcome change. We too spent both Saturday and Sunday outside all day. Really love this time of the year so much and so glad it is finally here for all of us to enjoy 🙂

      Rosey, I had that song in my head the past two weekends and seriously had to share. And sadly I am wearing a sweater right now, because it got a bit chilly overnight, but supposed to be 70 by this afternoon again.

    We too have had some warm weather and then the past 4 days have been record breaking cold weather. They way we will reach 90 by this coming weekend.

    Kevin did capture a great picture of Lily. She is precious even when she is pouting.

      Diane, it did get a bit cooler here last night and this morning, I was downright cold getting out of bed. I was wearing sweatshirt and socks. It is sunny and supposed to head back to around 70, but still the chill in the air this morning was so not fun (as you know not a fan). But hoping for 90 and would love it if it were just in time for Memorial Day weekend here, too. As for Kevin, I am always in awe of his photo skills and he totally did capture some wonderful shots, especially, Lily pouting 😉

      Chris, still one of my favorite Beatles songs of all time and definitely loving that this time of the year made me want to listen to and sing it even more. Also happy that I could share and wish we could now sing it together 🙂

      Kristi, I love the heat and say totally bring it on. Of course, when my air conditioner breaks during a 100 degree heat I may say different, too (at least I did last year complete with PlayDough mess from hell!!). Lol 🙂

    Enjoy that sun indeed! I remember that weekend. It was like a bad summer day :). But I promise not to complain about the heat given we just had the worst winter ever. Go hubs on the Canon skillz.     I’m so excited for you to finally getting out the summer clothes. For the girls it was actually pretty difficult putting their dresses back into the closet after out TX vacation. But it seems that finally we’re getting nice weather again!! Yay for summer to come!!

      You are not going to believe this, but I swear I listened to this song that winter, too, because I seriously was so down with it being such a miserable winter. In fact, the day I had my 20 week sonogram scheduled for it snowed so bad that it was cancelled and had to be rescheduled. I cried that day for sure, but you are right we survived it!! 😉

    Wow! Looking good in a pair of jean shorts! The girls stole the show, though. 😉 If we move to the States, we'll be able to take advantage of the cool playgrounds and parks available. There aren't too many of those around here. And, if you find one that's available for the public, it might only be a simple swing with slide. At least Amanda has playgrounds at school to enjoy. An agent is coming tomorrow morning to see the house and list it, and we are praying for a good sale! Take care.

    Do you know that Here Comes the Sun was my wedding march? That was the only thing I ever really dreamed about having for my wedding, and thankfully, everyone around me knew to just agree! Thanks for that!

      Aww, thanks Karen and I am not going to lie, I live for this weather, but still need to get more clothes now, because most of what I have hasn’t been upgraded or replaced. So yesterday with 80 degrees I was still wearing jeans and sweating some, too.

      Wow that is awesome that your boys went in the water even only at 52 degrees. It was only in the 60s here yesterday and will be honest not warm enough for me to venture in the water myself just yet!!
