Sometimes more then one real wonderful thing can happen in one day.
That is exactly what happened this past Friday when I attended an all day blogging event that I eluded to here. (Stay tuned for more soon on this.)
One of the best parts about this day though, was meeting and laying actual physical eyes on the people who I pretty much talk to daily, as well as follow through blogging, and also taking my own advice and getting a bit of a life outside the comfort of my own home blogging and designing.
A side note, I have been invited out in the past, but somehow I was unable to attend as I had conflicts with my family and childcare per say (one of the hazards of being a mom to small kids I suppose).
Finally all the stars aligned and I could indeed go, where it was BONUS being held in NYC (the city girl in me still lives and breathes better when I am in NYC – still one of my favorite places, especially at Christmas time!).
And I even joked that somehow I made it out of my house on time and with time to spare. Seriously that never happens!
But still it did and It was truly perfect..
Why?
Because I not only got to meet ONE of my favorite and dearest blogging friends, but TWO – both of whom I truly adore, admire and love to pieces!
I said it then, but I meant it, Christmas truly had come early and best Christmas present ever indeed!
Who did I get to finally meet in real life?
Well first up…
I got off the train and headed to Starbucks, where I was lucky enough to meet one of the nicest and classiest blogging ladies around – Kathy Radigan from My Dishwasher is Possessed. I have spoken to Kathy on the phone, email and through blogging groups, but FINALLY we were face-to-face. And it was real, as well as absolutely perfect and magical.
Not only did I finally get to get a much needed cup of Starbucks coffee (what is about their coffee that just always puts me in an even better mood?!), but we shared a cab ride, which found us discussing so much. The conversation was so comfortable and never missed a beat. Even though it was our first time meeting, I felt like we had done this many times before. And definitely hopeful we can do this again very soon.
But Kathy wasn’t a surprise, as I knew she would be meeting up that day.
However, I was so pleasantly and amazingly surprised at who else I got to meet.
So who was the second and big surprise real life meeting of the day??
Nellie of Brooklyn Active Mama!!!
That was my reaction when I realized it (ecstatic and seriously just giddy!).
I was on cloud nine, we were hugging and both pretty on the same page with the level of excitement from this finally real life chance meeting.
I am not joking when I say I follow her blog adventures daily and this was such a treat for me. Total icing on the cake for an already awesome day I was having.
Nellie told me she was so blogging about this and I couldn’t resist doing the same (so here it is Nellie!).

I am still so happy to have walked into the room and SAW YOU! It really was a great event–and I surely wish I could share all I learned but unfortunately I cannot do it in a matter of a day. It was so good seeing you and Kathy and you my dear were the perfect neighbor! never forget the mouthwash! LOL

I just read Nellie’s post and was so excited to see both of you in the same picture. I saw Kathy’s FB post about being excited to meet you so that was no surprise but I’m still excited to see you both in a picture together too. So when “at home” do you let loose with that NYC accent? I would have love to hear you all talk.

I have meet some blogging friends in real life, and the biggest joy was meeting Gretchen from Second Blooming! I’d love to meet anyone from the Mother of All Meltdowns. I think we all made a neat connection through our group! I’ve also encouraged two of my friends to blog, and so we were friends first and now we’re blogging buddies as well!

I have met several blog friends – most of them at BlogU. Kathy was my suite mate and Dana (Kiss My List) was my roommate. I met Kristi, Tamara, NJ, Tara, Michelle, Tricia, and so many more!! It was awesome – we were all nervous about if we would like each other in person, but it was like getting together with a bunch of old girlfriends! There are still so many I want to meet (like you!). Someday . . . . π
katbiggie says
Yes! At BBC Charlotte, I met most of the ladies I consider my tribe… ILene, Michelle, the Dose Girls, Kristen, More than Mommies, and so many others. It was amazing! Can’t wait to read your post. I want to meet Kathy IRL one day soon!
Amanda @ Growing Up Madison says
I have only met one other blogger and we took a trip to the Denver Zoo together with our little ones this summer. I still have to meet you but I plan on doing that next year and my little one will be meeting yours and of course Tamara too. π

I was lucky to meet Nellie at my very first blogging event. She is amazing! I have met quite a few of my blog friends and they really are real life friends as well! Thanks for the party, Janine…of course I am not here on time (I never am), but I linked up my stuffed chicken and Christmas tree topiary! And you totally don’t need a green thumb for the topiary…I certainly don’t have one either (I saw your comment on my blog!) Have a great night, Janine!
Alexis @ BabyStuff.tips says
That is so awesome. I think that is one of the hardest things about blogging from so far away, we miss all the events and don’t get to meet the people whose posts I read several times a week.
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
How great that you got out to a bloggy event. Here in Boston, they have been non stop over the past few weeks – it must be the time of the year.
Rosey says
I love that you got to get out and meet bloggie friends!! Looking forward to hearing about the allergy info.
Rosey says
I like the new nickname you’ve given me, hahahahahahahahaha π
You made me laugh today. π

I’ve never met any of my blogging friends in real life. This is probably because all of the big gatherings are in the USA and I’m up here in Canada. Plus most of my blogging friends are from the USA. I have a long list of people I would love to meet though… and you’re one of them!
I can’t wait to hear more about this post on life threatening allergies. My oldest daughter has a life-threatening dairy allergy… so these types of updates are always on my radar.
I love the pictures of you with your blogging friends – beautiful!
Thanks for sharing.
xoxo
