I woke with a start and flash on this past Monday morning. Lying in bed, I thought instantly for some reason that I needed to write a new “Currently” post to update here on a more personal level.
See after a conversation with a mutual blogger friend about continuing personal blogging, I felt I needed to write for just me more or less. Plus, another blogger friend had mentioned in past about writing Currently posts more often. Ironically, I opened my BlogLovin app to see she did indeed write a currently post that very morning. Also, making it a linkup of sorts.
I knew it was a sign.
I took the challenge and here is what flowed out of me for the most recent “Currently” post for January 2017…
Reading…
I had some downtime with a snowstorm this past weekend and had just finished my recent book that I was reading. I was also awaiting a delivery from BOTM with my January selections, which I ended up picking two as I had two free book credits. I used one of them this month.
First, chosen was BOTM with my January selections (one of January’s picks), as well as BOTM with my January selections (from December’s picks).
But my box didn’t arrive until Monday, thus I borrowed from OverDrive, Looking for Alaska, by John Green, as this one has been on my list for some time. Being that it was available and free to read, I thought I’d give it a go. Will keep you posted on this one.
Plus, I was happily surprised to an extra book included in my BOTM with BOTM with my January selections.
So much happy reading for me now!

Watching…
Being that many of the shows, I have been watching were on a bit of a hiatus for the holiday season. my TV viewing was at an all-time low.
But last week, the new Season of Nashville premiered on CMT for the first time. I was able to view the first hour preview On-Demand before the actual premiere. Then I viewed the second half on the actual premiere time. Happy for its return, but not sure what to expect just yet with its new location (CMT not ABC) and trimmed down cast so far. The jury is still out, but still viewing with high hopes.
Listening…
Gearing up for the Nashville debut on CMT, I couldn’t help, but listen to their past year’s soundtracks on iMusic, because one of the big reasons, I viewed was for the music. See Nashville’s Past Season’s Soundtracks really nail it with the vocals and definitely worthy to listen to while work during the day in all honesty.
Eating…
Sweets and more seem to be topping my eating right now. See I have still somehow leftover Christmas Cookies (I made a ton for us apparently). So, I cookie for dessert goes along way. Yes, they are Christmas colors, but still so yummy!
And now that I tried out this new recipe for my blog, it seems to be a new favorite here with Peanut Butter and Jelly Chocolate Pudding Trifles.
Wearing…
Still addicted to Stitch Fix having got two fixes in December alone.
Plus, I am also possibly equally addicted to Lularoe leggings as I have been purchasing through a friend, family member’s sister and even some online Facebook groups.
Not even sure, which are my favorites now. Might be the Disney Princess Crowns as the Disney lover in me can’t resist.
Or maybe the camera leggings (I have two, one in blue and one in red now) as you will read on in the next section for what I have been working on.
Working On…
Christmas came and went. But my husband and kids gifted me with a new DSLR camera to replace my old one with the Canon EOS Rebel T5i. Plus, they added a new speed light for good measure.
I am having so much fun playing with my photography skills and with my newest obsessions. I also invested in a newer and better tripod. So, I really am pleased with the photos I am able to take in recent times. Can’t wait to try to it out more in the upcoming weeks and months here, too.
Dreaming…
Honestly, it was 14 degrees here with a real feel of single digits today. So, right now, I am dreaming of warmer temperatures.
But I also was reminded today that I can begin to start booking dining for our annual Disney family vacation.
So, the excitement is building folks and you can bet I will share those adventures as they unfold here with you as I have always done in the past, as well.
Contemplating…
OK, so I have been toying with this one for a few months and not sure if I will or not. But since I have been creating printable sheets for blog posts and for signups on my sites, I was toying with the notions of opening an Etsy Shop with printable creations in mind.
Don’t quote me though on this as I am still designing websites, writing sponsored posts for companies and blogging here personally, as well. So, not sure if I would be crazy to add that on to my already crazy schedule, but just something I have been thinking about I guess.
That’s it folks! Now, I am linking up with Lisa at Golden Spoons. Plus, I am indeed wishing for Spring sooner rather than later on this chilly, January day.

This past weekend with the snow was the perfect time to read! I binge read “Today Will Be Different” by Maria Semple. So good! And I’m gearing up for return of shows now that we’re January. Now I have to gear up for a big show in March, so working on some new designs today 🙂
Janine says
I have that Maria Semple book on my list and keep hearing great things about it. So definitely will be reading soon. And I will be on the lookout for your new designs, as well today 🙂
Seana Turner says
Currently… writing a blog post a day for Get Organized! Month (which you have been very supportive of – thank you so much!) Also dreaming of vacation and a beach and sun…which is 3 months away for me. Nice to have something to look forward to.
Janine says
Aw, my pleasure as you are truly an awesome support to me, as well. So wouldn’t have it any other way. And I agree about having something to look forward to right about now 😉
Dara says
I really want the camera leggings, but in black. I am trying to get better with my new camera too!
Janine says
I love seeing your photos with your camera as I know you are trying to learn more, as well. And I know I have seen the black camera leggings and they are so cute, too 🙂
Meredith Spidel says
Love hearing about you, my friend, and love your updates! With you on so many of these things–and still haven’t see This is Us from last night–can’t wait. Here’s to the rest of your January and Spring coming! xo
Janine says
Aw, so much hugs and love, Meredith. I think once you watch the latest This Is Us, you will just love it as much as I did!! xoxo 🙂
William Holland says
Busy days for us all but then winter is a great time to stay busy, isn’t it? Who in their right mind wants to go outside in this crap? LOL Happy Hump Day, my friend, and may all your wishes come true.
Janine says
Bill, I couldn’t agree more and definitely staying indoors as much as I can, because seriously not a fan of being outdoors in any of this either!! Happy Wednesday now 🙂
AnnMarie John says
This year is focusing more on me and less on the sponsored stuff. I haven’t read any books since the year started but I still have quite a few on my Kindle that needs to be read. I also haven’t watched any TV either. I’ve heard a lot about This is Us but haven’t watched it. BTW I’m loving the new camera. That was a great gift for sure and can’t wait to see all that your shots from Disney. It’s a little over 6 months out for us since we’re heading there for 2 weeks in July but we’re super excited. Also excited because we’re heading back in February along with a Disney Cruise. It’s gonna be fun!
Janine says
I am trying to balance both here still with sponsored, as well as myself and family life, too. That said, my relaxation is surely curling up and reading a good book. Plus, I do highly recommend, “This Is Us” as it is one of the best shows I have seen in recent times. And think we may be in Disney similar times this summer and maybe could try to catch up if possible 😉
Christine Carter says
Ah, I just love reading everything you are currently doing Janine! I’m always amazed at all the books you devour and you inspired me to go grab my latest and sit down and READ NOW.
I keep hearing about “This Is Us” and I just KNOW I should watch it… I need to and I really do want to, but I just haven’t had the time to get into a series for a while now. I’m thinking this needs to be on the top of my priority list!
And yeah… winter blahs have set in over here too. Dreaming of summer already!
Janine says
Aw, Chris yay to inspiring reading as if there is one thing that I can inspire this is hopefully it for others as I just truly adore reading and books in general. And if you can spare some extra time, seriously “This Is Us” is a must and really don’t think you could or would be disappointed ever that you gave this one a try. Here is to summer dreaming now, as well 🙂

Janine, I love seeing your pictures. They are looking great with your new camera. I took a longer than I thought break from blogging. We have been at Disney 7 days today. Because of they bad weather we left a few days early. We did not want to chance driving the rv in bad weather. It has been in the 70’s all week. I wish you were here but I know you will be here in a few months and then I will be wishing I was back at Disney. Have a Magical day! Diane.
Janine says
Aw, Diane I am so sad to hear you left Disney a few days early for bad weather. I honestly hope you can go back still soon. I got to tell you it has warmed up here today (most of the snow from this past weekend even melted) and maybe my spring wishing helped a bit, but have a feeling it will get cold again sooner rather than later as we are expecting more snow this weekend. But here is to so much Disney magical days for us now indeed!! 🙂
Tamara says
A sign! Yes!!! Thank you for the shout-out, twin. Also, I’m wearing my camera leggings! I have the same red and blue ones as you. Also, I’m dying to read “Looking For Alaska.”
We have the same taste in TV, and we are also dreaming of the Magic Kingdom..
Janine says
Omg, twins totally for life! Seriously, I could not love more that you own both the same pairs of camera leggings, too. Plus, Looking For Alaska definitely recommend as I am a little over 50% done and definitely got me on my edge of my seat so far. And yay to the same TV tastes. Plus, the Magic Kingdom dreaming is so awesome, too! 🙂
Allie says
You’ve inspired me, I think I need to write a Currently post. I haven’t watched Nashville yet, nervous for the same reasons you are. I’m reading Commonwealth right now and I also live This Is Us. Somehow I missed the Lularue leggings train…I need to research.
Janine says
Yay and can’t wait to read your Currently post now. Hope you can research Lularoe and think if you do will love them, too 🙂
Dana says
I spotted “Swimming Lessons” in your book pile – that was my December BOTM pick and I’m almost finished it. I watched “This is Us” last night – so happy it’s back on! Love that show. I also love the “Currently” post idea – I may have to try one!
Janine says
I am excited to read Swimming Lessons now as I chose The Sun Is Also A Star for December’s BOTM. So, having a credit this month, I grabbed this one on top of the month’s selection, too. Also, I hope you will write a Currently post and see what you have been up to, as well 🙂
Emily says
I loved “Looking for Alaska.” Since I have two boys in boarding school now, and the book takes place at a boarding school, I was particularly intrigued. Although it is fiction, John Green says the book is loosely based on people he knew when he went to boarding school. And “This Is Us” — THE BEST!!
Janine says
Wow, to Looking for Alaska being loosely based on a real story. As of so far I am truly enjoying, but is very interesting what you have heard. And I definitely whole heartedly agree about This Is Us!! 😉
Carrie Groneman says
What a fun post Janine! So awesome to see all that you are ‘currently’ doing because it gives me ideas of fun things to do, and makes me want to stretch and be more creative in reading, hobbies and in other areas of life too. Thanks for this today! Carrie
Janine says
Aw, thanks so much Carrie and I love doing these types of posts, because I get to give a bit of a peek into my little world here for all 🙂
Jen says
That camera is awesome! You have the best reading lists always 🙂 I really love reading currently posts.
Janine says
Aw, thanks always Jen 😉
Nellie says
YAY on the new camera! How awesome!! I bet your photography is going to be AMAZING (not that it wasn’t before) and YES to the etsy shop! I have a feeling it would do really really well. 🙂
Janine says
Aw, thanks Nellie on both accounts and seriously excited about the new camera. Been playing with it and practicing with different shots in recent times now. Plus, I appreciate your support for the Etsy shop idea, too 🙂
Suzie@SuziesView says
Was great reading your post. I have only plain leggings, but yours look so cute. I have been reading more too in this season. We had a snowstorm recently as well. Life has been so hecktic for me in the last 2 years with so many family trails. But now is the season I am picking back up blogging for me thats what I am up to now.
Janine says
Awesome and so glad you are picking up blogging more now and wishing you a lovely month and year ahead now, too Suzie!! 🙂

You are one busy chica! You’re reading, stitching, writing, doing J9 Designs and running a household. Do you ever sleep? 😉
Your books all sound awesome, and your winter fixes and activities all sound great. I know I crave warmer temps myself. We’re just about halfway through January! YIPPEE!!!
In any case, sending you hugs and happy reading!
Janine says
Aw, I try to stay busy as it helps make the time go by quicker, especially during the week. But then again I pretty much love what I do here, so no complaints. That said, I am so happy January is halfway done with now. Hoping February and March go as quickly as I am longing for Spring in all honesty now. Sending many hugs and happy reading right back at you now, too!! 🙂
Eli@CoachDaddy says
Leggings – especially those – especially rock. I’m currently wearing camo. I’m currently watching football. But thanks to you, I’m also currently dreaming of Connie Britton.
Janine says
I am trying to picture camo leggings on you and just can’t see it! But that said, football and Connie Britton makes a good combo if nothing else. Hope you are enjoying your weekend 😉

Aw, thank you always, Aunt Gloria. Much love and hugs now!!!
Leslie says
I still don’t know how you get it all done. Can’t wait to hear your book reviews, and you’ve also got me intrigued about the show Nashville. As though I need more TV in my life.
Janine says
Aw, I really don’t have any secret trick if I did I would share. Just also watched the second episode of Nashville and still enjoying so far 😉
Amy says
I love this idea! It’s true that as much as I enjoy DIY posts, or recipes, or parenting advice, I also really enjoy reading about what people are up to on a more personal level. Love your reading choices, and I’m totally jealous of your future Disney trip!
Janine says
Thanks Amy and I am with you on loving reading on a more personal level, too when I can of others posts 😉
Rabia @ The Liebers says
I haven’t watched TV in forever, but I think I really want to give This is Us a try. I just have to convince Ken to let me use the TV!
Janine says
You need to convince Ken. Seriously, you will not be disappointed in watching, “This Is Us”!!! 😉
Rea says
Yehey for a new camera! So happy for you! 🙂 I love those leggings, so cute.
And know what, opening an etsy shop also crossed my mind last week. Funny enough. I think it’s a great idea though but one that needs time.. And a little investment.
Janine says
Rea, I know exactly what you mean and the time still has alluded me to step this up. Maybe soon though 😉
catherine gacad says
i absolutely love ‘this is us.’ hands down, one of the best shows i have seen. tear-jerker every time. my husband says he’s growing a vagina by watching it, yet he totally loves it too.
Janine says
I know and completely agree as this is totally my favorite show too 😉
