It’s been a few months since I last updated with this Currently. We are now in a brand new year, and it is January. How it is already 2019, boggles my mind.
That said, I felt it was high time to post indeed all that is Currently going in my life. So sit back and get the skinny now!

Currently January 2019 – First for 2019
Loving
OK, the winter months are not my time of the year — not much to love about freezing temperatures and the possibility of snow looming pretty much daily for weeks and months on end. While we have been lucky snow-wise here so far, I am pretty sure our luck will run out sooner rather than later.
That said, if I had to name one thing I do love about this time of the year, I’d have to say snuggling up in the evenings with a fluffy, cozy blanket and a good book. I have expressed how the holiday times zapped my reading mojo. Well, just like clockwork, I am a reading machine once again. And I attribute that to the colder, longer nights. For more on what I am reading though keep scrolling.
Watching
During the holidays, most network shows were on hiatus. But with reading on the lower end of the spectrum, I wanted to veg out and watch TV. Thankfully I subscribe to both Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Fuller House
Well, as luck would have it two of my favorite streaming shows, we’re back for new seasons. My girls and I couldn’t resist watching the latest season of Fuller House. This current season found everyone’s favorite, lovable, zany neighbor being a surrogate and carrying Stephanie’s baby for her. Plus, DJ and Steve are finally a couple and navigating dating each other again.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
After devouring the first season back months ago, I couldn’t have been happier that Mrs. Maisel was back for a second season. This time out, Midge and Joel are finally split up. But that doesn’t stop them from having a few close moments. But also add into the mix, Midge going on the road for a tour to do her stand-up comedy with Susie, as well as dating a new love interest, Benjamin, who also happens to be a doctor. And just when you think that Midge has it all, but figured out the season leaves us with more questions than answers by far for what is to come next. Seriously, the season finale was all that and a bag of chips. The only issue is now I have to wait patiently for the next season.
Youtube Watching
OK, so this next viewing admission is more of a confession than anything else. I barely ever watch Youtube for more than if I missed something in a current episode of something I observed. But over the holidays, I finally had another Stitchfix styled for me. While I am pretty specific in my likes and dislikes fashion-wise, I couldn’t help but see what others got recently in their boxes. So much so that I started following one or two of my favorites from these viewings. One is a married couple who get styled together. These two make me laugh and are quite likable.
I also quite enjoy this lady here as she has a specific style and many of her outfit choices are indeed just fab.
Want to try Stitchfix for yourself? Check them out here.
Reading or Audible Listening
OK, so I know I also recently confessed to my lack of reading books over the holidays. But thankfully, as also mentioned Audible has saved the day for reading. While I promise in-depth reviews forthcoming soon just wanted to list my current reads again. Both happen to be Reese Witherspoon Book Club Books.
One Day in December, by Josie Silver
This clandestine romance story just had all the feels for post-Christmas and Hallmark Holiday movies. So much so that I finished it in record time. For all the romance lovers out there, I highly recommend.
The Light We Lost, by Jill Santopolo
Once again romance was the name of the reading game for me. But this time, (without giving the ending away) will say left me more shattered than happy for the supposed coupling here. Was a heart-wrenching tale and ending, as well. Spoiler alert, tissues are a must for that ending!
**A side note, while I am loving Reese’s Book club I am currently deciding what to read next from her book club. Is anyone a part of her book club? Can you recommend something else you read and loved from it?
Listening
Music streaming after the holidays found me back with my favorites from the classics. I mean I did my fair share of Christmas music streaming. But after Christmas, I had to concede and walk away from the Christmas music.
So, this found me streaming music from all the greats in the form of George Harrison, Wings/Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and of course The Beatles.
Eating
As much as I am trying for more clean eating during the week, as well as working out when I can fit into my schedule, I can’t resist cheating a bit on the weekends.
Lego Bars
These kid-friendly Rice Krispie treats aren’t just for the kids, and I can honestly attest to that!
Chicken Wings
Sundays are full of football. And while I am not a fan really, I am can never pass up the food. **Stay tuned shortly for this recipe is coming to the blog soon!
Planning Ahead
Disney Vacation Dining!
As much as I am not happy that it is winter, I am still very much dreaming about summertime, warmer weather and of course our Disney Summer 2019. See our Dining Reservations Open 180 Days out for the next Walt Disney World Trip this Monday. So, Disney is indeed never far from my mind.
Winter’s Demise
Again what can I say, but I hate and loathe winter so much. I am counting down the days until Spring now! Might be premature as it is still indeed only January. But since the holidays are indeed over, I need something new and exciting to countdown!
That’s a wrap for all that is “Currently” going on here right now.
**Linking up this week with Kristi of Finding Ninee for this week’s Finish the Sentence Friday (FTSF) where the sentence to complete is as follows: “OMG it’s January…”

Great to catch up on what you are currently into! I watched the first seasons of both Fuller House and Mrs. Maisel but haven’t watched the second seasons (or beyond) yet!
Janine says
Aw, thanks Dara and totally recommend the second season of Mr. Maisel! 😉
Tamara says
I still have to watch Fuller House! I loved the first season of Maisel. I don’t even mind that I spoiled things for myself just now but I’m so glad she has a new love interest. I cannot like Joel.. I even try. I just can’t. He will NEVER find someone as good as her.
Janine says
Tamara, watch the second season and please let me know your thoughts of Joel after it. Seriously, we need a gabfest on this soon 😉
Kerri says
Thanks for the book recommendations! Just finished the new Jodi Picolt book–couldn’t put it down and “The Story Teller’s Secret”. Could not put them down!
Janine says
Thank you and haven’t read Jodi Picoult in some time. But will have to check this one by her out now, too 🙂
Julie Clarke says
The lego treats look amazing. I think that is one thing to try here. Lovely blog, enjoyed reading 🙂
Janine says
Aw, thanks Julie!!! 🙂

We love Fuller House, but this last season was kind of meh for us. I think the whole Japan wedding at the end of last took us off the grid of interest. It was a little out there. 🙂 In any case, it’s still a decent way to pass time (we watched the beginning few and end episode). SPOILER…don’t read if you haven’t seen the show.
I did think it was hilarious that Matt’s dating DJs arch nemesis. That was a fun twist. 😉
Janine says
Loved that twist with Matt dating Gia. Seriously was a funny and hilarious twist if nothing else 😉

Great book recommendations. I’m listening to Rush – which I got from either you or Dana, I think. I like it! I’m jealous you’re going to Florida soon and love that you got your reading mojo back, Janine! Yay!
Janine says
I think Rush had to be Dana, as I haven’t read that one myself yet. And definitely going to keep that one in mind now, too 🙂
Cynthia says
I love your “Currents” hehe. What fun and it sounds like you know how to make the winter months work for you. Sending you hugs and wishes for a wonderful week!
Janine says
Aw, once again thank you and so many hugs back!! xoxo <3
Dana says
Love Mrs. Maisel! I’ve heard great things about Friends from College, so I may try that next.
I’m not in Reese’s bookclub, but I know Where the Crawdads Sing was one of her picks, and I loved it!
Janine says
I loved Friends From College and highly recommend that, as well. And I have Where the Crawdads Sing on my list. So now I want to read it even more so!
Christine Carter says
Janine, I loved reading up on all your currently things! I can’t wait to get your book review post, because I ALWAYS find some new books I want to read! Those romance novels sound like good reads too.
Disney planning and yummy meals and watching fun shows and listening to some good tunes… all sound GREAT. And girl, I’m SO with you on hating winter. Sigh. Thank goodness we have good shows to watch and books to read and food to eat and music to listen to to get us through these long cold months! 🙂
Janine says
I couldn’t agree more and am so thankful for great books and shows to keep me going during these colder months right now 🙂
