I still remember Y2K like it was yesterday. How is that 20 years ago?
Seriously, shell-shocked that it is now 2020! I mean it seriously seems like only yesterday that I was 23 years old back in 2000. In 2000, it was way before Facebook or even the Internet boom.
I was so young, naive and innocent. But then again, we all were to a certain extent as 9/11 clearly hadn’t occurred yet.
And yet here we all are 20 years later and it is indeed 2020. Am I the only one who hears Barbara Walters introducing her news show 20/20 when I hear the year 2020?
So, if you are curious, scroll on to find out what is Currently January 2020 for me.
Watching in January 2020
So, I caved and subscribed to Disney+ in November when the streaming service premiered along with Hulu. See Hulu which merely a few dollars more with Disney+. But I had an older Apple TV to stream Netflix and/or Amazon Prime TV. However, that version of Apple TV didn’t support the Disney+ App. So, I was using AirPlay from either my MacBook or my iPhone to mirror the app onto my Apple TV. My brother took pity on me and gifted me with the new Apple TV for Christmas. So, I have been streaming away now even more. Plus, with the new Apple TV came a one-year subscription to Apple TV streaming service. Therefore, I now stream from NetFlix, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime TV and Apple TV, too. What have I been streaming? Find out now.
Apple TV – The Morning Show
What can I say, but Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carrell have made this show loosely based on the morning shows we all have grown to know, as well as the MeToo movement, which has become unfortunately a household word. So, the drama around those who work on the morning show is highly engrossing.
Prime – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
I watched the two first seasons of this 1950s dramedy. So, how could I not catch up with Midge and the rest of the gang for Season 3? This time out Midge is touring with Shy and finally really coming into her own.
NetFlix – Fuller House
The same goes for Fuller House now in its 5th season. Bonus as both of my daughters loves this remake of the older TGIF classic. This season finds Stephanie bringing home her newborn baby, while DJ and Steve are finally dating once again.
Hulu – Seinfeld, Wings, Dick Van Dyke Show and more
OK, so on Hulu, I have been streaming so many of my favorite older sitcom classic favorites mostly. This channel truly brings me back and then some.
Disney+ – What haven’t I watched?!
Seriously, as die-hard Disney fans in our home, this streaming service just has it all. Totally worth it!
This Is Us –
OK, so network TV also came back for the second half of the year this past week. Who watched This Is Us this past week? Omg, not really a spoiler. But all I can say is, “Epic Love Story/One for the Ages” – what a perfect description for Jack & Rebecca if there ever was one. This whole episode honestly had me reeling from start to finish as usual.
Listening –
Last month, I would have said Christmas music, because I literally streamed Apple iTunes Christmas Playlist the entire month. But now, I am slowly listening to other music once again. Because sadly Christmas is indeed over.
Reading –
I confess and admit it. I stopped reading for months on end in 2019. See I signed up for Audible early last year. And in the beginning, I loved it. But slowly I found myself zoning out while listening to Audible. So much so, that I gave up reading altogether. For someone that loves to read, it felt like a part of me died in the process.
But then, BOTM reached out to me and asked if I wanted to work with them on their affiliate program. I got the first month’s book for free. So, I gave it a shot. I ended up devouring Lisa Jewell’s, The Family Upstairs.
Eating –
Right now, we still have some leftover Christmas Cookies. My favorite this year was my Crinkle Cookies.
However, with it being the New Year, I also am attempting healthier and cleaner eating. I recently made another batch of these oatmeal cookie balls. Trust me they are so yummy and healthy, too!
What I am wearing –
Still very much enjoying getting a few different fashion subscription boxes. With Christmas, I actually got three different boxes, including Stitch Fix, Trendsend and Trunk Club sent to me. I picked my favorites and had them put under the tree as gifts from my husband and kids. Want to see what I got? Check out the below videos.
What I am Planning –
Most that follow me know that I am always planning ahead for the next Disney trip. Having just returned from our most recent holiday trip, I have a few months until the next one in the summer. And then, of course, there is still another on tap for later in the year for next holiday season, because Disney during the holidays is probably my favorite time to be there.
Now, that is a wrap for what I am currently up to this January 2020.
*Linking up with Kristi over at Finding Ninee for FTSF, where the prompt is “Currently”.
What are you is your “Currently” January 2020??
Kenya G. Johnson says
Aww the lone about you giving up reading altogether made me sad. Listening isn’t for everyone. I’m glad you’re back with BOTM and reading your way. If you still have the membership and credits to burn, get a book you already read. Those Sophie Kinsella books were hilarious to listen to – the one about the ring or the one with girl whose dad had the fancy camping on his property. Glad to hear someone mention the AppleTV shows. We’re the shows emotional for you? I was literally holding back sobs with the last show. Everyone’s acting was superb! Are you wasting Servant? That one is crazy but I’m hooked. Christopher got a new phone last month so we got the free year as well.

Kenya, I wish audiobooks were my thing. I honestly wanted them to be. In the beginning, when I first tried them, I thought it was great. But slowly, I just lost interest and that has never happened to me with reading. So, I am just not sure why that was. I don’t have any more credits, but if I still have some audiobooks I downloaded that I may try to give those at least a chance. But if I did have credits I would take your suggestion as I love Sophia Kinsella books. I am truly glad that I am not the only one with AppleTV. I completely agree about The Morning Show. Wow to that last episode especially being so moving and powerful. Honestly, I was bawling by the end. And I just started The Servant and wasn’t sure what to make of it after streaming one episode this week. But will definitely watch more after your recommendation 😉
Tamara says
I do watch This is Us and Maisel as well, and I WANT to watch Fuller House. I have only seen the pilot but once I clear off immense DVR list, I’m coming for you, Fuller House!
I am so glad you linked up!!
Janine says
Omg, thank you for hosting and it is Fate that we all pretty much ended up being on the same page with this week’s prompt. That said, Fuller House is a must and hope you can watch it very soon now!! 🙂

I didn’t think I would be alive in 2020 so it’s all a bonus now. :
We binge on Netflx and Prime until the regular network new season begins…..there is always something incredible to watch.
The weekend is here, my friend. Enjoy!
Janine says
Aw, so glad you are alive in 2020 and wishing you only the best weekend ahead now, Bill!! 🙂
Dara says
I must say I’m jealous that BOTM reached out to you. I was on their YA affiliate team myself but haven’t made any sales, oh well. I love This Is Us. Great episode this week.
Janine says
I actually worked with BOTM on their old affiliate program. So, they emailed to let me know they were moving to a new system and to reapply there. I don’t see why you couldn’t apply as you do a ton of book reviews and would be a perfect candidate to work with them 🙂
Astrid says
Oh wow, you’ve for sure been watching a lot of TV! I rarely watch TV at all, so don’t know most of these series. Hope you enjoy them though!
Janine says
Thanks so much, Astrid and I don’t watch a ton of network TV, but I do stream when I can 😉
April says
We have so much in common here, well when it comes to t.v. watching and food anyway. Only I want to see Morning Show, I really do, but I haven’t paid for the Apple service yet. I love all the other ones you mentioned though, and chocolate crackle cookies and oatmeal balls. You have excellent taste.
Janine says
Aw, thanks, April and sounds like you have awesome taste, too!! 🙂
Jen says
I love Mrs. Maisel! My daughter and I are hooked and she even bought me the life version of the game for Christmas! We have played many times. I cannot believe we are 20 years past Y2K. We are still here right?!
Happy 2020!
Janine says
Omg, that Mrs. Maisel game sounds awesome and have to see if I can find it now. And Happy 2020 to you, too!! 🙂
Seana Turner says
I am currently sitting near my space heater trying to keep warm on this frigid January 2020 day:) I can totally relate that Y2K seems not so long ago. Crazy! January is a busy time for professional organizers because so many people are “in the mood” to clear out stuff after the holidays. So, I working a lot and running a series on habits all month long. Here we go, another decade!
Janine says
Aw, I know this is a busy time for you indeed. But also agree here is to another decade for us both, too 🙂
Marilyn says
We have finally finished packing away the Christmas decorations. I just finished reading Thomas Jefferson and The Tripoli Pirates The Forgotten War That Changed America’ History. I also finished The Amish Sweet Shop. I am now reading The Willow Brick Road. I hope to start my exercising soon. I have Marie Osmond’s Body Gym and a hula hoop. I want to get back to my knitting and learn to sew and crochet. I started to watch PBS’ Jane Austen series. It is the book she started and died before finishing. Have a Happy,Healthy and Blessed 2020.

Janine says
Aw, sounds like you have some great plans for this year and hope that 2020 is the best year ever for you!! 🙂
Kristi Campbell says
Ok I had a ton to say but then saw This is Us came BACK!! I was wondering why the most recent season seemed so short. Gah. That’s kinda all I can think about because I want to go watch now. I loved Mrs. Maisel (but did hear some complaints about how sexist it is but honestly, she’s bad@ss for a woman of those times for sure). We’re planning our next Disney trip, too! California, though. I cannot wait!! So glad you linked up – t’was kismet.
Janine says
Omg, Kristi, t’was kismet indeed!! As for This Is Us, all I can say is every time I am not sure how they will keep making us want to come back for more I am left eating my words. This week’s episode proved that and than some. Mrs. Maisel is indeed bad ass for the time period she is supposed to live in – so agree on that. And yay for Disney California, too!! 🙂
Gloria Spagnoli says
Have a great New Year … I know Disney is in your plans. See you soon. xxoo
Janine says
Aw, thanks, Aunt Gloria and Happy New Year to you once again. See you soon, as well xoxo 😉
Christine Carter says
Janine, it’s so wonderful to read all of these cool updates! I have some new book ideas (the two you read and loved) and show ideas too (I’ve heard Mrs. Maisel is incredible and I need to get back into This is US!) I want to try those healthy oatmeal balls as well. YUM!
I’m glad you are only reading for pleasure now. I get how things can become “work” and steal the joy right out of something we love. Good for YOU, for preserving something you have always loved and getting back into it with personal fulfillment.
Here’s to more Disney Trips in 2020 for YOU and your beautiful family!! 🙂
Janine says
Aw, thanks so much, Chris. And I agree about what you said here about reading. I really hated how it turned into another job/chore I had to do with reviewing the books. I want to read just for me. If I do want to review it, I will. But I don’t want to be forced to (if that does make sense). Hugs and wishing you the best in 2020 now!! 🙂
Nancy K Wolfe says
I’m just a little afraid to start This is Us again – because I fear I will never leave the family room until I’m current. Just one good episode after another. Thanks for the reminder. I might summon the “watch responsibly” oath and take a chance. And I’m with you on audio books – I have the same problem with lengthy podcasts… even the ones I really like! Oh the pitfalls and disadvantages of technology 🙂 xoxox
Janine says
Nancy, I think if I fell behind I would feel similar to what you described as I know I would not be able to just watch one episode as it is that good and addictive of a show. Also, glad it wasn’t just me with audiobooks. I really wanted them to work for me, but I just couldn’t concentrate. I think I really just need to see the words to absorb what is actually going on. xoxo
