Well, it is now over 3 weeks into March. Monday marked the first day of spring.
While it is indeed spring according to the calendar, the weather still have been all over the place.
Back in February, we had a weekend with almost 70 degree temperatures.
Granted a few days later this was followed by over a foot of snow and freezing cold temperatures, too.
But overall, February in NY was on the warmer side. However, the ides of March found March most definitely coming in like a lion with more snow and very frigid weather for a good portion so far.
But, we changed the clocks, springing ahead. So at the very least, it might have been cold, but was still light out until almost 7pm now.
[Tweet “What is currently going on with you?”]
Looking ahead though, I thought what better time than right now to give you more of what is “Currently” going on in my neck of the woods this March.
Reading…
I have read 15 books so far this year. Most recently, I finished The Edge of Everything, by Jeff Giles from the latest Quarterly subscriptions’ box.
As I write this, I literally just finished Marlena, by Julie Buntin from March’s BOTM selection.
While the former was a truly quick and engaging read, as well as possibly even my favorite so far of the year, the latter was slow going at best early on. However, it began to pick up steam and speed for me around 60-70 pages into it.
Not updating with a full review on this one here, but then again you will just have to stay tuned for my review to come in the near future.
Watching…
♥ This Is Us
Well now that NBC’s This Is Us is over until September, I am currently going through a bit of withdrawal. That said while I enjoyed the finale, I also felt it wasn’t the strongest episode of this past season. Barely even shed a tear! Which anyone who watches this shows can attest to that this show rarely even left a dry eye in the house this past season.
Other episodes, such as William’s finale swan song or even Kevin explaining life and death to his nieces were stronger in my humble opinion. I mean they invoked tears and more for this viewer at the very least. But I guess, now I wait until the fall until to hold my breath for what is to come.
♥ Girls
I was excited for the new and final season of HBO’s hit comedy with Lena Dunham and gang. The first two episodes were a bit of a let down and the third was downright painful to watch.
But, as the season unfolded in episode four and further, I admit that I have been truly enjoying this show once again.
My favorite so far was in episode five, when Hannah’s mom paid her a visit. Between her mom having a midlife crisis and getting lost in NYC high on gummy bears, as well as Hannah and Elijah exchange in their search for Loreen (Hannah’s mom), I truly couldn’t help finding that episode downright entertaining. Only four episodes to go and am hopeful for how this series will conclude now.
♥ Big Little Lies
Yet another HBO show I couldn’t resist giving a go to, because I read the book with the same name by Liane Moriarty.
So far, having read the book I know where the story and plot is going. But still am highly enjoying each episode, especially with Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman in the lead actress roles.
Plus, I can’t help to love to hate, Alexander Skarsgaard (Eric) of True Blood fame. I mean I may have had a bit of a crush on him from the True Blood series. So, even though his character is quite abusive and pretty much a male chauvinistic pig here, the actor playing him isn’t too hard on the eyes to enjoy watching him from one week to the next.
Listening…
Recently, we had to renew our Sirius XM Subscription for both vehicles. My husband is more into country music and usually listens to the country stations in his car. One of the groups that he got me into is Midland from his Sirius XM listening. So, while I work I have been streaming their latest album.
Eating…
A recent review found me getting to try Kemps YO2 Frozen Yogurt. My favorite flavor from them is Salty Caramel Cookie Crunch, which is seriously addictive! Right now you can buy it at your local Stop and Shop, too!
Wearing…
OK, so as much as I have gushed over Lularoe and their butter soft leggings, I have to share I recently had an incident with them.
I truly must have had my head in the clouds on this one. But I got a new pair a few weeks back. I wore the pair one time and found I had holes (large ones) along on the butt area after wearing for only a few short hours in my home!
Thankfully this was only in my house. Plus, I was able to exchange for a new pair. However, I have been a bit scarred and even scared to buy more or even wear more outside my home for fear that this may happen again.
See my understanding this is an ongoing issue and even Lularoe knows about this issue. There is even a huge Facebook group with 1,000s of members that have similar complaints and issues with this.
So sadly I have been wearing jeans more once again, because of this.
Tell me has anyone else had this issue?
Working…
As of right now, this is the apparently slow and down time for those in the blogging world. See coming off the recent holidays and a lull before Mother’s Day hits.
Never fails as this seems to happen each year.
So, I have been taking advantage of this lull by working on updating this site a bit with a new printable offer for those who sign up. If you haven’t signed up for my newsletter, you can do so HERE to take advantage of this FREE printable offer.
I also recently transferred to a new hosting company as I was having some issues with my previous one. I am now happily hosted with Site Ground.
But fear not as I am currently seeing signs of this picking up thankfully once again.
Plus, I also am a designer and have been kept busy on that end.
Dreaming…
With it being March and spring having indeed begun on the calendar, I am truly dreaming of warmer weather.
Hell, I would settle on being able to put away my snow boots and long heavy NorthFace down coat if nothing else!
Planning…
My older daughter will be celebrating her 1st Holy Communion at the end of April. So, currently planning for that celebration here.
We purchased the dress, ordered flowers, booked a restaurant for the party afterwards. Now, I need to get working on invites next.
Well, that’s a wrap for March and hoping that the month now goes out like a lamb if nothing else.
Seana Turner says
I’m working a lot, and waiting for spring. This late winter weather is tough… I’m ready to get outside and start puttering in my garden. I’m also planning for summer – now is the time to get your summer schedule set!
Janine says
I know and I can’t wait for the warmer weather to stick around, as well. And agree about summer planning now, as well!! 🙂
Ginny Marie says
I’m currently reading the book Sugar by Kimberly Stuart. I’m about halfway through and loving it! It’s a sweet little romance about a pastry chef finding love.
It’s so hard to believe your baby is ready for her first communion! What an important milestone!
Janine says
Totally going to check out Sugar now from your recommendation here. And I know still can’t believe my oldest will be having her communion next month either!!
Dara says
I’ve been watching Big Little Lies too, I think it’s really well done so far! I love Elton John! I have not had any problems with LLR leggings but certainly heard about people who have. I hope spring finds us all soon!
Janine says
I completely agree about Big Little Lies and also Elton John. Glad to hear you haven’t had issues with LLR and got my fingers crossed that I don’t anymore either, but still cautiously nervous. And spring needs to find very soon now, as well 🙂
Meredith Spidel says
I am watching BLL too! And of course, This is Us, and now I want to read Marlena. And your dog is GORGEOUS! Love that we always have so much in common, sweet friend!
Janine says
Aw, I love that we always seem to have so much in common, too!! <3
William Holland says
“This is Us” …best show on television, and we are going through withdrawals as well. Oh how I love that dysfunctional family. LOL
Happy Wednesday dear friend!
Janine says
Bill, I couldn’t agree more and definitely going through withdrawals. Last night found me reading for the hour or so I normally would watch and sadly what I was reading couldn’t hold a candle to this amazingly and beautifully written show. Happy Wednesday now once again to you, too!!
Kathy Radigan says
I have my mind on my sons graduation. It’s coming so quickly! I am totally looking forward to the warmer weather, I put some bulbs in my window so at least the house looks a bit springy-er! And one day I will do my spring cleaning. xo
Janine says
Kathy, one day I will do my spring cleaning, too! And so exciting about Tom’s graduation. Seriously, all good things to come now xoxo <3
Jen says
Oh my gosh the bum holes are terrifying! Not that your booty is but, the thought of showing my drawers to the world is! I love Midland. Good choice!
Janine says
I know this is my fear now. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the leggings and have had nothing but great experiences with the consultants I have bought from. But still the holes in that one pair scarred me just a bit. Oh and love Midland, too 🙂
AnnMarie John says
You’ve been doing a lot currently. BTW we haven’t had snow since early January and have been having temps in the 70’s and 60’s since then. Makes me almost scared to think of what summer will bring. I have to get my book reading game on, I haven’t read a single book since January either so thanks for those suggestions. As for Lularoe, I’ve heard a few complaints about that. I have 2 of their leggings and so far so good but I’ll have to be wary of buying more. Still also haven’t watched This is Us but might have to stream it on Hulu, and first communion already? They sure don’t wait for you to grow up do they?
Janine says
OK, where do I start. Jealous of the 70s! Seriously was 65 yesterday here and now back to freezing. Just would like 2 days in a row of nice weather! Happy to always suggest books to you. And as for LLR, I have over 20 pairs and never an issue until this once. So, might sound crazy as I have had more success than not. But that one pair still got me nervous to have my butt on display for all god forbid now! This Is Us, I really couldn’t recommend more. Lastly, the communion really cannot believe it is almost here now!
Nellie says
Can you believe that I haven’t seen the last episode of the season? It’s like im in denial or something LOL! I have loved the whole last season of girls–especially the author episode. It was crazy and jarring! Big Little Lies — I look forward to it every week. The soundtrack is phenomenallll!
Janine says
Oh man you need to see it! And I know love the music from BLL, too 🙂
Chris says
I’m finally vlogging on Youtube. I tested the waters a couple times over the past 2-3 years but always deleted after 1 or 2 videos.
But now I’m on Day 6 of 100 Days Of Cartooning, and I’m totally loving it. And it amazes me how much the vlogging is boosting my productivity. Instead of taking away from my draeing time and wearing me out, it’s energizing and keeping me on track.
Glad to hear you’re doing so well and sticking with blogging all these years. That’s something I always respected about you is your consistency. From the HubPages crowd I got to meet the past 5 years, I can’t think of any of them that put in more work than you, and your work ethic is no doubt one of the keys to your success.
Keep up the food work!
Janine says
Chris, what can I say, but thank you so much for all your kind words here. And I need to see your vlogging as I admit this is the one area that I am not as comfortable with and would truly love to see how you are going about it. Also, glad to hear it has been a success for you so far, as well 🙂
Aunt Gloria says
You’ve had a busy March so far….and more to go! I love This Is Us and can’t wait for its return. I love the salted caramel flavor….I get the ice cream. It replaced butter pecan for me as my favorite, although I still love that. I know Emma is looking forward to her 1st communion. Lots of good things to look forward to. See you in NY soon. xxoo
Janine says
So many things to look forward to, especially you coming home now. See you soon and safe travels!!! 🙂 xoxo
Mary says
The weather has been a bit crazy in California also. 80 degrees, then 40 degrees then lots and lots of rain, which I shouldn’t complain about because we were dealing with a bad drought, but not anymore. I love springing the clocks ahead, it’s a sign that spring is finally here 🙂 I used to watch Girls, but I fell off a few seasons ago. I might binge watch Girls sooner rather than later. Looking forward to seeing some pictures from your Daughters 1st Holy Communion. How exciting.
Janine says
Aw, hope to share pics from the communion when I can here. And hope you can binge watch Girls soon as I am truly enjoying it. Ode to that crazy weather and sounds similar to ours minus the 80 degrees, which we have yet to see yet for 2017!
Tamara says
I’m in the middle of reading Big Little Lies and then I can’t wait to watch! Is that Reese as Madeline? Ed looks cute! In the book, he’s bald.
Anywho, I love This is Us but I’m NINE episodes behind. Somehow it hasn’t been spoiled for me so I guess I just feel lucky I still get to watch it!
Janine says
Yes, Reese plays Madeline. And I know Ed was bald in the book, but not so much in the HBO show. So glad This Is Us hasn’t been spoiled for you and hope you can catch up now before it returns in the fall 🙂
Rosey says
I didn’t even know blogging was slow right now, but I’ve been slow for sure. I have so much to catch up on, but not a whole lot of time to do it. Story of my life these days, but it’s all good. We’re happy, healthy and not hungry, so good enough, right? 🙂 Glad to see all is well there, and your girls!! They are getting big and so did the pup!! Here to wish you a wonderful day!
Janine says
Rosey, it is always this time of the year and then when it picks up again look out. I usually go from quiet to absolute insanity in the blink of an eye. So, I just keep reminding myself now that most likely in the next few weeks I won’t have time to breath again let alone here quiet! That said so glad to get an update from you and hear you are all well, too. Now, wishing you a lovely day and rest of the week, too 🙂
Christine Carter says
Aw, I just LOVE these currently posts Janine! I feel like we just had this wonderful conversation on the phone! So fun to know all that you are doing, watching, listening to, reading, etc!
I have taped This Is Us on our DVR and have yet to watch ONE episode. I might make my kids watch it with me this week, because spring breaks starts tomorrow! Do you think it would be appropriate for them? (11 and 13 years old)
If not, I will HAVE to stay up late and just binge watch them all… I cannot WAIT!
Janine says
Aw, Chris I love that you feel that way and made me smile thinking we just had a chat on the phone together. I think This Is Us is totally appropriate for kids who are pre-teen and teenage as it really is more a family type show centering around the family unit. Hope you can watch with them or even binge watch later on in the day yourself now 😉
Echo says
Oh, my dear Janine, I have missed you! You have had similar weather to us! What a pain in the butt, LOL!
I can’t believe you have read 15 books! That is amazing! I barely made it through one, hahaha!
That Yo2 is seriously amazing stuff and salted caramel sends me over the moon!
I promise I will be stopping by more from now on!
Janine says
Echo, once again I have missed you so much and just glad to see you here today. The weather, I truly do agree is a real pain in the butt and no arguments there!! As for the books, I truly just love to read and really does seem to relax me. So, whenever I get a chance you probably find my nose in a book 😉 Yo2 is seriously amazing and totally agree with you. Lastly, I look forward to sharing more with you now in the future. Hugs!! 😉
Kristi R Campbell says
I love Big Little Lies (did you read the book??) and This is Us so much! That stinks about your leggings. Seriously! They’re not that cheap, either. I saw some (another brand) in a store and they seemed better made and were about 1/2 price of Luluroe. I have two pairs I haven’t worn and now I wonder whether I will ever bother outside of the house. Yikes!
Janine says
I totally read the book and loved it. Liane Moriarty is awesome and have read many others of her books, too. As for their leggings, I know they are expensive and definitely can’t keep spending and worrying, as well. So, totally agree with you!!
Dana says
You’ve had a busy March! Thanks for the reminder to renew my Sirius subscription:) I’ve been reading a bunch too, and I’m also a huge This is Us fan. Going to watch Big Little Lies as soon as I get HBO – loved the book!
Janine says
Glad to remind and I also loved Big Little Lies, the book. So couldn’t resist the show 😉
Bev says
Congratulations on her first upcoming communion, that must be so exciting for you and your family! <3
I'm watching all of those same shows as you (as well as Jane the Virgin and Gray's Anatomy — I keep hanging on to that latter one for some reason!).
Sorry about the leggings, that's a bummer!
Janine says
Aw, thanks Bev and I keep hearing about Jane the Virgin. So may have to check that out soon, too now 🙂
Rea says
I’ve read 2 books. Only 2! Should be starting the 3rd one anytime soon. Currently also busy with blogging challenges and writing gigs. It’s summer time around here but it still rains occasionally. Hope you enjoy the rest of March! 🙂
Janine says
Thanks Rea and would love a bit of summer-like weather here, too. Fingers crossed sooner rather than later now 🙂
Selena, The Rambler says
First before I forget…Your my #BlogCrush on Lucyathome.co.uk. I absolutely am always WOW’d by you.
Second…I agree, I was kinda like…”That’s how the finale ended?”
Thirdly…it’s so all over the place here with weather in Louisiana.
LOVE your Currently! I keep talking about this…but maybe I can do this. Haha.
Janine says
Omg, thank you so much Selena and you just made me smile more than you know after a pretty rough and crazy week here. So, what can I say, but thank you my sweet, friend!!! xoxo <3
catherine gacad says
my husband and i watched the ‘this is us’ finale and were so disappointed. we were like…really…that’s it. seriously?! our weather has been crazy here too.
Janine says
I know and had the same reaction to the finale as you both, too!
