That’s right my oldest is now double digits and turned 10 on July 17th.
Of course, we had to do it up big – Disney style. We spent the day at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park. Because that happens to be her favorite of the Walt Disney World Parks.
Her actual 10th birthday on July 17th also happened to be the late-night for Disney resorts guests. Since we stayed on Disney property at Disney Polynesian Resort, we were able to take advantage of the extra magic hours and party it up in style. See the Magic Kingdom was open for resort guests until midnight that night.
Honestly, I am not sure she could have had a better birthday celebration for entering her double digits if she tried!
When asked how her 10th birthday was, she told us that it was absolutely perfect and magical. So, I think you could say it was a success.
That said, we are now newly back home. Therefore, it is time for my girl’s annual birthday questionnaire. If you missed last year and her 9th birthday responses find it here. But now, scroll on for this year’s current Double Digits favorites.
My Oldest’s Favorites at Double Digits or 10 Years Old
1. Favorite Color
Right at the start, the very first question I always ask her hasn’t changed in the last few years. That’s right, she is still Team Pink all the way! See, my girl absolutely still adores the color pink.
2. Favorite Movie
In the past, my oldest was all for the Trolls Movie. Then she switched it up with Beauty and The Beast the Live Movie being tops. But this year, when asked, she immediately told me that Mama Mia Here We Go Again was indeed her new favorite movie.
3. Favorite TV Show
Last year, her favorite show was Bunked. But this past year, my husband got her into the new Duck Tales show. So, now the ducks seem to rule in her TV viewing favorites by far.
4. Favorite Book
My girl has pretty much read all the Dork Diaries books. So make sense, she has moved onto a new book series. This one, I couldn’t be more happy about if I tried. She has finally begun to read the Harry Potter series for herself. She is currently almost on Book 3 and readily admits she just can’t get enough of Harry’s adventures!
5. Favorite Song
She is now seemingly over all things Beauty and the Beast. But still, Disney reigns supreme as when asked her favorite song. This year, she admitted that Happily Ever After (song) from Disney World’s nighttime fireworks extravaganza is a favorite musical number. Apparently having just newly returned from Disney this one is still near and dear to her heart.
6. Favorite thing to drink
Apparently, plain water has been pushed aside. As when asked, Ginger Ale is now the new favorite beverage choice for my now 10 year double digits daughter. And yet when pushed about our recent trip, she lived on Lava Smoothies!
7. Favorite thing she likes to do
Spending with time with her sister and her dog is now tops on her list. The nine days she was away from our dog, Elsa has only made her love our dog that much more. And her younger sister by 16 months is her built-in best friend apparently, as well.
8. Favorite thing to eat
When I asked this question, she first told me a steak. But then, I mentioned what about candy or ice cream? And then, she seemed to recall that ice cream is indeed her favorite.
9. Favorite Animal
This one hasn’t ever changed. Apparently, my girl still loves dogs. Mainly, this favorite hasn’t changed, because of our dog, Elsa.
10. Favorite thing to wear
Clearly, it is summer-time and very hot out. Because when I asked, she very clearly told me that a sundress was her favorite piece of clothing to wear right now.
11. Favorite Job when she gets older
Another, one similar to number 9, because it still hasn’t changed. My oldest still very much wants to be a teacher when she grows up.
There you have it with my Double Digits birthday girls favorite for this year. What will her favorites be for her 11th birthday? Find out next year – same bat-time, same bat-channel!
Happy 10th Birthday to my now Double Digits Daughter!!

I think there must be some mistake, Janine! There is no way that daughter of yours is ten. I’ve watched her grow up for what, six or seven years? No way she can be that old, because if she is then so am I, and I refuse to go there. 🙂
Sounds like a great birthday celebration, my friend.
Happy Thursday to you!
Janine says
Aw, Bill, you most definitely have been here watching both my girls grow up. And I know how you feel as I am still a bit shell-shocked that my oldest is now 10! Seriously not sure where the time has gone. But here we are and yes she did have an awesome birthday celebration the week we were at Disney. Happy Thursday right back at you!! 🙂
Jen says
We have yet to see the”new” Mama Mia! We ought to add that to the before the summer ends list. What a magical birthday your cute girl had indeed! The whole gang came out to celebrate her double digits 🙂
Janine says
Aw, hope you see Mama Mia Here We Go Again soon as my older daughter highly recommends 🙂 And we most definitely celebrated it up in style last week!!! <3
Kristi Campbell says
Janine, you know this already and we’ve talked about it but OMG I CANNOT BELIEVE our babies are 10. Double digits. I love how you did this post, by the way, and wish I’d thought of doing something similar for Tucker’s 10’th favorites and all. Emma is so grown up but also so little, and I love that, too. Tucker’s almost as tall as I am (WHAT). I’m so glad you went to Disney for her 10th. What a magical birthday place, and of course ice cream will win for many years (forever?) and Elsa the dog. And I love that she wants to be a teacher! A mini you!!! <3
Janine says
Aw, thanks so much, Kristi and I agree my girl is definitely on mini-me on teaching and so much more right now <3
Meredith Spidel says

Happy birthday to Emma! How fun to celebrate your birthday at Disney! Looking back, I think I would have preferred birthdays like this rather than going to the local Chucky Cheeses. 😂 Her birthday sounds so magical and lovely. It was fun to read about her favorite things, too. It sounds like everybody had a great time and I love sun dresses, too! Ha!
Sending you hugs and wishes for a great week, a wonderful birthday month, and Happy Monday!🤗
Janine says
Aw, thank you so much, Cyndi!! It was such an awesome birthday celebration and just so glad we were able to celebrate her double digits birthday this way with her. Hugs right back and Happy Monday and week ahead now, as well!! xoxo <3
Tamara says
Our 10 year olds would be such good friends! Sigh! Scarlet is all into smoothies but not sure what a lava smoothie is.. except that I want one.
She just saw Mama Mia (the first one) on Saturday at a sleepover!
She LOVES Harry Potter, as you know.
Janine says
Aw, how I wish our girls could finally meet and be the best of friends like their moms are already. Maybe someday soon we can make this happen. Oh, and a lava smoothie is a virgin pina colada smoothie with raspberry swirled into Disney Polynesian style 🙂
Christine Carter says
Aw!! Happy Belated Birthday to that sweet girl! I loved her answers! She is just adorable. My heart swelled reading that her sister is who she loves spending her time with and is her best friend. Oh, Janine, that is just so sweet that your girls are so close! What a gift.
Janine says
Aw, thanks so much, Chris and seriously I am really lucky that my girls are indeed this close to each other. So, couldn’t agree more with you!! 🙂

Roxanne Stritt: Our 7-year-old is a veteran when it comes to celebrating his birthday at Walt Disney World. We stayed at a Boardwalk Villa with a view of the waterway and the Swan and Dolphin. We told the cast members at the front desk it was his birthday when we checked in.
Janine says
That is awesome and I stayed at Disney World’s Boardwalk Resort recently and loved it, as well 🙂
