How to Dress for Disney Summer Vacations

As many know here on my blog, my family and I visit Disney World usually annually in the summer.

Disney Summer at Epcot

This year we will be in Disney in less than 2 weeks time now for more Disney summer time fun. This is our third summer at Disney in the summer. So, I am bit of a pro with Disney summer vacations.

But going to Disney, especially in the height of summer time requires this mom to dress a certain way.

First of all, it is hot and humid in Florida at this time of the year. Plus, thunderstorms come on quickly.

Also, Disney summer vacations require a lot of walking.

Therefore, the appropriate attire for Disney vacations during the summer is a must.

So, what are my top wardrobe picks for Disney summer vacations?

How to Dress for Disney Summer Vacations

My Top 5 Disney Summer Vacation Wardrobe Picks…

1. Shorts/tank tops/light weight sundresses with bathing suit under.

Again, it is hot at Disney in the summer months. So, you want to pick lightweight clothing as much as possible. As a mom, I am big on wearing shorts and tank tops. I also have been known to wear cute, lightweight sundresses. But underneath I usually wear a bathing suit as there are water rides. So, bathing suits are a huge plus to wear under either of the options.

2. Ponchos for the occasional thunderstorm.

As hot as it is at Disney in summer, there usually is a thunderstorm that will pop up at some time during the day. Therefore, we never leave our hotel without our ponchos packed in our backpacks. Trust me as our first time there, we got caught in a thunderstorm without our ponchos and it wasn’t a pretty sight.

3. Polarized sunglasses to protect your eyes.

It is mostly hot and sunny during the summer months. Like I said baring the occasional thundershower, you will need some protection for your eyes from the bright sunshine. So, I recommend polarized sunglasses for this reason.

4. Cooling towel/spray bottles to keep you cool.

Our first time at Disney, we kept seeing people walking around Disney either spraying themselves down with spray bottles or wearing some form of wet towel around their necks. See the spray bottles or wet/cooling towels help to keep you cool at your pressure points if nothing else.

5. Reebok Sneakers for comfortable walking.

Disney parks come with a good deal of walking. So, you will get a good workout.

Therefore, you will want comfortable shoes, such as sneakers to wear.

Reebok Back View

So, I highly recommend Reebok Club MEMT shoes.

Reebok Side View

I recently got a new pair at my local DSW to wear on our upcoming Disney vacation. I love shopping at DSW for all my shoe needs as they have many and varied types of shoes. So, makes sense it was my go-to store for these Reebok Club MEMT shoes for our upcoming Disney vacation. By the way, you can also purchase a pair of Reebok Classics for yourself at your own local DSW today!

See these Reebok Club MEMT shoes are not only extremely comfortable for all the Disney walking, but are fashionably retro, too.

Therefore, I can also see myself wearing these shoes once we return for running errands, summertime fun and more with my kids in tow.

I remember needing the ponchos when we were there. They are a must for sure! Hope you have a wonderful trip. I’m on vacation now and believe it or not, we’ve been passing around the stomach flu, which has been a big bummer! Stay healthy and have a great time.

I usually wear sandals and then I regret it after walking all day long!

I did that too the first year and most definitely regretted it, as well!

Cheers to that. The shoes rock and they’re super important.
We only go to Disney World in the winter, but this is all still valid. In fact, probably more so, since we’re not used to shoes that aren’t winter boots, sunglasses, and warmth up here at that time.

Well, going in November later this year, I may learn a bit more about that part of it still, too πŸ™‚

I forwarded some of your posts to my friends that are planning a trip to Disney World this year and they found them super helpful. I bet you are a pro with Disney Summer Vacations. I didn’t even think about all the walking you have to do. I like the idea of wearing a bathing suit under your clothes, water rides are the best. I didn’t realize thunderstorms were even possible, that’s a great tip. Lovin your cute white Reeboks
