What is a girl to do once she celebrates her 5th Birthday Anna, Elsa and Olaf Style with a Frozen Theme Birthday Party?
Why she goes to NYC to the American Girl Doll Store with her younger sister and her family, too to continue her partying the only way a girl knows how.
Stay Tuned now for how we spent our Saturday at American Girl Doll in NYC with Emma to wrap up her 5th Birthday extravaganza complete with a walk in Rockefeller Center, shopping in the NYC Lego Store and even a birthday lunch at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where those aspiring to become Broadway actors/actresses wait tables and entertain those dining there, too.
After, American Girl Doll, we went to Rockefeller center and then the Lego Store, too!
Lunch at Ellen’s Stardust Diner….
Home again, home again with their new dolls…

It doesn’t get much more exciting than that if you’re a little girl now does it? Glad she had fun!!

What a fun NYC trip! We have yet to take Malone into the city, but he’s DYING to go. He really wants to see the Statue of Liberty but I know that some of the stores (like Lego) are going to blow his mind too. I’m thinking perhaps we’ll go in the fall, when the weather is a bit cooler and we can really enjoy walking around the city for a day or two.

What a way to ring in the big F-I-V-E! WOOT! WOW!! The American Girl Doll store looks AMAZING. (Julie is my favorite doll. It’s the banana seat bike she has. I had one just like that back in the day except my seat was purple!) The store alone would have made my daughter’s day…but then also THE LEGO STORE and then eating at Ellen’s Stardust Diner?!?!?! You guys weren’t kidding when you called it an extravaganza! Five is a pretty big deal, an you guys did it up right!!
Happy, happy birthday to your wonderful Emma!! XOXOXOXOX –Lisa

What a great birthday outing! It looks like a great trip. I am glad grandma to go too. We have visited the American Girl Store a few times in Dallas. My girls including my adult daughter loved it. She received a couple of American Girl dolls when she was a little girl and still has them out in her room at home.
I am so glad you all got a chance to visit American Girl Doll store to help celebrate Emma’s birthday. She will never forget it.
Blessings,
Diane Roark

First, congratulations on your nomination – well deserved:) My husband actually took both of my girls to the American Girl store when they were little. I think their stuff is so adorable that I want to get down on the floor and play too:) SUCH a fun day!!

This brought back memories. For about six months I had American Dolls as a customer….believe me, it was not an easy write for me. 🙂 Have a great Monday, Janine.

I loved your post! It brought back so many great memories of the time we took Lizzy to the American Girl Store a few years ago. Plus, as the mom of a special needs daughter, I have to say they were amazing to her!!! So glad the girls had fun and bought their new “friends” cant wait for you next post about your trip! xox

I’ve never taken my girls to the American Doll Store in Chicago, although I know they would love it. They just got mini Isabelle paper doll in their McDonald’s Happy Meals, which they thought was pretty fun. I’m sure they will enjoy many years playing with their dolls!
Pure Grace Farms says
Looks like Emma is a happy little girl and that she and the family had a wonderful time. Who knew you could buy desserts too! Thanks for sharing the fun outing.
Blessings,

How memorable and cool was this! The girls will reminisce about this for the rest of their life’s. Good job mom. Carrie, A Mother’s Shadow

This is so cute! I have been to the store once and I loved it. Me and my cousin had one of the original dolls…Addy. We were into American Girl right before they had the “make your own doll” thing and then right when a lot of girls had the option to do that. We loved getting our magazine in the mail each month I think it was! 🙂

The luckiest little girls on earth! How exciting! Off to vote!

Fun! My daughter loves those dolls. She also loves Olaf!
Tamara says
They have food there too???
This hasn’t been on our radar as of yet, but today, an American Girl catalog came in the mail! I got the mail on my way into town so Scarlet read the catalog on the way. She was… transfixed. She really liked the pets and she liked the angel one.
She has a doll that size but it’s not an American Girl doll. It’s a “fake” one. But it can wear the clothes and have the pets!
I wonder how long I can get away with it..
Kim says
The American Girl Doll Store sort of freaks me out – I guess it’s becauseI don’t have girls. It seems overwhelming!!!! Now, the Lego store – we LOVE (or did:(.
Sounds like a super way to celebrate a birthday!!

Looks like it is a day that will be remembered for a long time! Love Emma’s doll. And loved all the photos. What a fun time for all and a memorable 5th BD for Emma! See you soon. xxxxoooo

Adorable! I’m glad they had a good time. When I was a girl I wanted to visit an American Girl store SO badly, and of course we didn’t have one anywhere near where I lived! I never made it one until two years ago, and I’m 23 now! Hahah. Better late than never, I suppose 😉
Merlinda Little (@pixiedusk) says
Awww such a nice trip! I love those dolls! Always my dream to have one when I was little but were poor so my parents cant buy me one. Lego is a fave in my household and it would be awesome if we can go to this place! #ww

Looks like absolute FUN! Wow! I’d love to be a little girl in that shop looking at all those dolls – and the cake pops!!! Hope you’re having a good week Janine! Been a little preoccupied with site stuff and all sorts, but missed popping over here and just glad I’m back to a decent schedule. Have an awesome day! 🙂

That’s one impressive store with an impressive selection of dolls. I bet larger than anywhere else, huh? Cute doll and dog she picked out. What a cool Olaf balloon made at the restaurant! Happy birthday again to Emma!

Love Ellen’s! The food isn’t great but I can’t resist singing wait staff. My daughter got an AG catalog in the mail today (why I have no idea), and I thought of your girls. You Huldies know how to celebrate a birthday!

This is terrific Janine! I love looking at all those dolls. I like the ones with the goldilocks kind of curls. LOL. I’m sure the girls were so giddy and what a fun way to celebrate Emma’s birthday! 🙂

All those dolls are beautiful! I can see the appeal.
So sorry for the delay in getting over here…it’s the second day in a row I’m getting home from work or other obligations after 7 or 8 pm – it’s not even August yet and my semester is going crazy. LOL
Hope you’re having a wonderful day! xox

so much fun! I am glad she had such a great time 🙂 I had no idea you can buy desserts at American Girl–I have never been in there!
Amanda @ Growing Up Madison says
Oh how I miss NYC and that American Girl Store along with BABW and Disney Store, and you name it! Emma looks like she had an amazing birthday and I’m so happy she did. She deserved it! Maybe the next time I’m in NYC we can all go together. Madison needs a new doll and now she’s bigger she can get a regular sized one and not the Itty Bitty. 🙂

absolutely amazing! life is good when you’re 45 minutes away from the big apple 🙂
i’m happy with my baby boy, but i have to admit, i did secretly dream of taking my girl (if i had a baby girl) to the american doll store and having tea with her.
Bev says
It’s a good thing the American Girl Doll shop didn’t exist when we were younger, I would have had a field day! I used to pore over the catalog when it would arrive in the mail and save up my money to buy things for Samantha (who I only convinced my parents to get for me when I was about 10 and just on the tail-end of playing with dolls). It looks like a fun shop!
Romi says
Your photos are beautiful, and the dolls are lovely. I could spend an entire day at the American Girl Doll Store if I were to go there.
Michelle Liew says
A salute to those photography skills, J9!
Kimberly says
I love being a mom to a boy so there is no pink prohibited in our house…unless it is unikitty. She’s bad ass.
Looks like she had a wonderful day. My girlfriend just bought her daughter an American Girl doll (on her trip in America…how fitting) and she also had to take out a second mortgage on her house because holy ridiculously expensive!!
zoe says
ITs too bad your girls arent too crazy about Isabelle huh? Hey , every time I come here I keep meaning to refer you to a blog called “Just a Dad With Questions about Disney.” He has little ones and loves Disney movies but has some questions about timelines etc… very funny!
Considerer says
Wow, that sure is an INSANELY full-of-dolls dollshop! And as for the Lego? EVERYTHING IS AWESOMMMMMME 😀

total congrats on the Award! totally earned (and) deserved.
so, when are you going to do a Post on dolls… (lol) nicely done, from the pictorial approach to a Post. Which is good for me, not being as versed in the realm of the small human replicas.
HB!

What an exciting day in the big city, no matter how old you are!
Patte says
What fun! My daughter had the original AG books about Molly because…her name is Mollie. We loved the books! She wasn’t really interested in the dolls but she did have the books for the first 4 or 5 girls.
Dyanne @ I Want Backsies says
What an exciting place to visit! My daughter had a few American Girl dolls, but the nearest store was in Chicago, so we never got to visit it. Now that she’s outgrown American Girl, they have a store in Kansas City, which is only a few hours away. Sigh. My daughter played more with her Bitty Baby, which is made by the same company. Very sweet baby doll and scads of clothing and accessories, of course!
Rabia @TheLiebers says
My daughter would go nuts at that American Girl store!! She doesn’t have a doll, but she’s always wanted one and she goes ga-ga whenever she sees AG stuff.
