Well, folks we made it through week two of school, as well as the start of Fall soccer season for the girls. Other then a few mishaps along the way, like the parade kicking off late, Lily melting down that she was still too young to help Emma and her teammates carry the banner and the not getting the sticker before another little boy. Soccer went off without a hitch.
The rest of the week was a bit of a blur to me with pre-school for the girls, blogging and design work for me, as well as my first head cold of the season. Still trying to get over this cold and now supposed to take the girls for their flu shots this morning. Wish me luck on this!
But now it is Saturday, so let’s get the party started with Ten Thankful Things~
My Ten Things of Thankful of The Week~
1. On Saturday, Kevin and I actually got to go to Kohl’s to shop their huge 30% off sale. Kevin walked away with three dress shirts and I got two more button down shirts to add to my fall wardrobe. Seriously happy for being able to spruce up my clothing for the season having truly not bought much the last two years and just making due with what I have. I admit I love fashion and has been hard for me not to shop, but finally got my shopping on a bit here!
2. Dinner at Kevin’s parents and we made Grilled Chicken Panini’s for dinner for the adults and crescent mummy dogs again for my kids, as well as my nieces and nephew, too! Totally get great mileage out of that recipe now.
3. Fall Soccer season started.
5. Able to drop Kevin and the girls off at the one school where the parade started. And then I parked about 1/2 mile down the road at the school where the parade ended and they play soccer. The walk back by myself was glorious, because the weather was definitely comfortable and fall-like, but also no crying whining kids (seriously the quietest part of my day and week, too!).
6. The nicest kids and parents, too are on Emma’s soccer team. And we had a blast walking in the parade with them. And Emma, plus two other little girls carrying the banner had the number 7 on the back of their jersey’s was really a very cute sight.
7. Kevin being able to be Emma’s coach this year for soccer. She was so happy to have Daddy coaching and he was truly amazing coaching all the kids, truly could tell he not only knows the sport from years of playing when he was younger, but that he genuinely is great with kids on the whole.
-
8. Lily loving soccer, too and even telling me she can’t wait to go back and play next week.
9. For getting to co-host for the first time myself, the awesome PinCentive Blog Hop linkup this week having over 120 linkups as of the time I wrote this. Seriously so excited for how well the hop is going, but if you haven’t linked up you missing out, so join us Tuesday, because from all I have seen so far this is HUGE!
11. One more for good measure and I am, of course, thankful again that weekend is indeed here and hoping to get a bit of a break before Sunday morning soccer this Saturday now.

Janine Huldie says
I wonder when that stops, too, because I am on my 19th nervous breakdown from all these age induced meltdowns. And Lily actually told me she wants to be 5 years old her next birhtday so she can be older then Emma!!

Love seeing all those pictures of soccer with "the littles"…makes me think about when my boys were first beginning to play. So much fun and so much cuteness! Thanks for sharing!

Looks like you had a great week!! I love those photos of the girls at soccer and it was so cute to see them carrying the banner for their team. I bet they were so excited! That's also awesome that Kevin was able to coach, too. My dad used to coach soccer and even one of my teams when I was younger and now he wants to be able to coach Sofia's team some day. I told them that they need to move up here for that! And yes, good luck with those flu shots…I just got mine the other day when I had Eliana in for her appointment and it actually made me feel sick for a day…ugh. Sofia will get her's at her 2 year appointment in a few weeks. Not looking forward to that! I also hope you get over your cold since this weekend is supposed to be nice. We're heading to help out with the flea market at our church today. Have a good one Janine! xoxo

I hope your parents move up there someday and your dad gets to coach. I am waiting right now at the doctor’s, but have a feeling Lily is going to cry, because she has always with shots. And right now it looks like it is going to rain, but so hoping it clears up. Enjoy the flea market and happy weekend!! 🙂

We are on the other end of the soccer spectrum. Bev's daughter plays high school varsity soccer after years and years of recreational leagues when she was younger. Good luck, have fun, and find time to enjoy this weekend away from writing.

Good luck to Bev’s daughter. And have a great weekend, too!! 🙂

I love how much Kevin gets involved with the girls and what they're doing and is so supportive of them.
Glad you got even a tiny break to yourself, and the new clothes sound awesome. I'm not into fashion but I imagine it must be hard to see the new collections go by and not be able to get in on the game. Nice that you were able to treat yourself 🙂
Lastly I really hope that cold goes away and leaves you alone soon :/ Sending healing thoughts your way.

Thanks so much Lizzi. I am feeling quite a bit better today and even was cleared to get my own flu shot by the girls' doctor. So, I am all set for the colder/winter weather. Had the flu years back, so I am happy to get the shot so as not to get it again if I don't have to. And trust me, I know we are so lucky for how supportive and involved Kevin is. You are right it has been hard not to shop for clothes, but thanking god truly for sales and for a few extra dollars right now to do so. Hope you are enjoying the weekend and thanks again for hosting this awesome hop!! 🙂
lrconsiderer says
I'm really glad you're feeling better. I hope the flu shots protect you all this winter – flu's really horrible to have.
My weekend's going well so far, thanks. I'm enjoying myself, and you are welcome as ever for the hop 🙂 Thanks for being part of it.

Clark, the weather actually has been pretty descent here and even though it is officially Fall, is has been around 70 and even in the mid to upper 70s a few days. Gos how I wish this would last now, but I know better!! And totally agree that these weekends with the TToT is are simply the best!! 🙂

Your little Emma looks so adorable in her soccer uniform! How wonderful that her dad can be her coach too – what a fantastic experience for both of them. Those crescent mummy dogs look yum-o … I actually think that's what I feel like for lunch. It's windy and grey here today and they look for warming and good for the morale 🙂

I have been trying to leave a comment off and on all day so if this is number 456 I apologize for the first 455 of them… this is my last try… I was trying to use my android which is hopeless~anyway all I can remember of the previous comments was that your Little Lilly and Emma look like they are sporting very cute little soccer dresses in those giant shirts!
Janine Huldie says
I am so sorry Zoe and know I have the opposite problem commenting on Blogger blogs on my iPhone. So totally feel your pain and just thank you for reading and trying to comment. And I know those shirts are huge and could totally be dresses, lol!! 🙂

Little kids in soccer gear are just plain adorable. Glad your season is off to a good start (despite the few snafus). Kudos to your husband for coaching. That isn't an easy gig. My husband is coaching our kindergartener, and the stories he tells when practice is over make me laugh so hard.
Hope your cold is over quickly and the girls do well with their shots.
My recent post 10 Things of Thankful, Week 16
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Christine and I know coaching 4 years old soccer isn't easy, but he from the time he was their age through high school and loved it. He honestly was waiting patiently to be able to coach her and is in his glory. So, I love seeing how happy this makes him, as well as Emma, too. And the girls did great with their shots and so thankful that is over again until next year!!! 🙂
tamaralikecamera says
I'm so sorry about your head cold! I get them very rarely, maybe once every other year or two, but it's the new school year and I'm not optimistic I'll make it through.
New fall clothes are the best. I am such a shopaholic in spirit but I've had to be painfully thrifty for years now. It's getting old, to be honest, and I now earmark a bit of every photography paycheck for a latte and a new shirt.
I'm only young(ish) once, right?
My recent post Three Truths, One Lie: Kids Will Be Kids.
Janine Huldie says
So agree, we are totally only youngish once and that is what I am doing right about now with a few extra dollars here and there. Really a wonder at making me feeling good though, because a new item of clothing here or there does seem to make me smile. I know I work from home, but so sad that I can't look good from time to time. And I am feeling better today and even was cleared to get my flu shot after the girls got theirs. So, Kevin and I went to Target to get ours. So, now we all have the flu vaccine for the year!! 🙂
gigigirl says
Quite a week! And what fun seeing the girls in the parade and enjoying soccer….with and without dad. Hope you feel better Janine. Take care……happy Sunday! xxoo
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much Aunt Gloria and I am feeling a bit better now. Thankfully!! 🙂 xoxo!!
gigigirl says
Glad to hear that….maybe a reaction from the flu shot. Well, it's officially fall now 🙁 We'll make the most of it…….enjoy the good days. xxoo
Janine Huldie says
I know it is offiically fall now and steps away from winter, which you already know how displeased I am about that one. But I am trying to enjoy the remaining good days of weather now for sure!! xoxo 🙂

How exciting with the soccer…things like that make you REALLY feel like a parent. Dino got weekly lessons with soccer through daycare last year…but we decided to go with Karate this year instead. I feel like he needed to find a way to control and focus all that energy.

I know soccer really does make you feel like that much more of a parent. And must admit for both girls it is perfect and especially, Lily, who gets to run all her energy off. And can't wait to hear more about karate for Dino, too!! 🙂

Nellie, my younger was a bit all over the place when she tried at first in summer soccer. My older was allowed to play with her one weekend when we had rain and many of the other kids didn't show. From that point on, she really took off and was so happy that this brought her out of her shell so to speak with soccer 🙂
