Do I get a mention on your blog for this or even a little something, something for this? This was Kevin this morning when he was supposed to be working from home waiting for the Canon online store to go back online to make sure that all the banners and such were working the way they should.
For weeks, he was supposed to do this work from home on this Saturday morning. Yesterday, those in charge at work, decided that it would happen at 9:30 am sharp, but of course 9:30 came and went.
I, of course, was at Saturday morning dance with the kids (it was 10:30 am), when this text message from Kevin comes in on my phone: “This was supposed to start at 9:30, but still waiting to Q & A the site.”
I respond, “That is crazy.”
Kevin says, “At least I am at home, but some of the others have been at the office since 4:30 am.”
I write, “That is just miserable.”
“Old baby bottles and the baby steamer, do you think big brother and big sister takes them?”, Kevin asks.
I am dumbfounded and respond: “I am not sure, why?”
Here was Kevin’s next retort, which definitely got my attention, “I am cleaning out the cupboards, because I am so bored.”
At this point, I am totally flabbergasted that he is truly this bored and actually resorting to cleaning anything, let alone the kitchen cabinets.
Of course, he is all so proud as a peacock at this point in the conversation. Once dance class is over and by the time I get home I clearly see why. His handiwork or should I say OCD has shown through completely. The pantry is as neat and tidy that you could practically eat off of it. Everything is so nicely put away and you can clearly see what is what in there. My kitchen cabinets now also pretty much the same deal.
Once I have time to digest this, Kevin turns to me and says the exact first sentence verbatim all tongue and cheek now.
Well, I have to say this, he did do a great job and wish he got bored more often. Maybe we could have the whole house look this clean and immaculate too. But alas this is a one time deal like Halley’s Comet and should just be happy that I got to witness this event in my lifetime. That said, here is his fifteen minutes of fame and shout-out on my blog!! As for the something-something, sadly he is still waiting for that. Oh well, 1 out of 2, isn’t bad!!
Now, I just couldn’t resist including Meatloaf’s “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad”. Yes I can count and I am off by a few numbers, but for some reason, I thought this song by the end of my post, so enjoy:

Wish mine would get bored more often and clean too! LOL! This is the great side of any compulsiveness. Thanks for sharing, janine!
JanineHuldie says
Lol, Michelle. I loved that he cleaned Michelle don't get me wrong, but wish it would have been for something that wasn't hidden behind a kitchen or pantry door that no one sees anyways!! Thanks 🙂 🙂
Stacy Harris says
Is he bored today… I mean…. I got the coffee brewing and my kitchen cabinets could use some organization….
JanineHuldie says
Lol, Stacy. Sorry, he is at work today and know I am most likely going to hear later about this post 🙂 🙂
Stacy Harris says
Ha ha – well, when he gets home tell him his services are needed! LOL
JanineHuldie says
Stacy, will pass that right along, but I am sure you will get, "How much are my services worth", lol!! To be a man 🙂 🙂
Melanie Chisnall says
Oh my goodness, you had me cracking up. No offence to your husband…but what is it with men?! I clean the house every weekend and do the dishes every day. I swear Geoff expects a "thank you" every time he does the smallest of things. Now, I love my husband and I'm not putting him down – but, I swear this is a male mentality! I don't go around the house saying I did this, and that, and this and that and expect (although it is nice to hear on the odd occasion) a thank you. But you'd swear men feel like they deserve a standing ovation when they do something small like that. It's funny. I have to laugh every otherwise I'll scream. Win-win for you though – clean cupboards and not a bored husband! 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Lol, Melanie this was a win-win as far as the cupboards, but also agree that men do think they should get a standing ovation (love that term) for actually lifting a finger to do something. Thanks 🙂

My husband, in 15 years, has never gotten bored enough to reorganize anything! So I think Kevin definitely deserves a little blog fame for this. This past weekend, my husband fixed the front door because it was hanging off the hinges and I couldn't get it to close. And then he was all "how you doin? Do I get a reward?" They're always looking for a reward. We could just give them some M&M's like the kids get when they go potty. 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Amy, love the whole M&M's reward concept, because I am now doing this potty training my younger and do have a whole bagful here, lol!! But seriously, thanks for the laugh 🙂
Bill says
Poor Kevin! He just doesn't get it, does he? LOL I can tell you in all honesty that I have never been that bored, that I would clean cupboards. There is still a chance it could happen, but Bev probably shouldn't hold her breath for that moment to come. On the other hand, she hates that sort of cleaning too, so maybe one of our kids will come over and be bored and help us. LOL Great fun Janine!
JanineHuldie says
Bill, glad you enjoyed. I was truly shocked that he was that bored and hope for Bev that one of the kids your kids does come over to help her out on this. Thanks seriously as always 🙂 🙂
Emily (OhBoyMom) says
Cute story Janine! It's funny because when my husband gets bored, he cleans our garage…doesn't happen very often, but when it does, I'm thrilled with the result because I never clean that part of the house. I think it's cute your husband wanted to get mentioned on your blog. I think my husband is scared about the things I may write about him or the kids.:)
JanineHuldie says
Emily, you may be right about him secretly loving getting a shout out on here. He always comments on what I have to say each day and even about any small involvement he may have, lol!! Just happy to oblige!! That said thanks for sharing about your husband here, too!!
Ruchira says
haha…I wish my hubby gets bored sometimes and cleans 😉 Cute story, Janine
JanineHuldie says
Thank Ruchira and happy you enjoyed 🙂 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Cari, glad you enjoyed and now you can see why I feel right at home reading your posts about your husband, because your husband does remind me of Kevin. Thank you and happy to see that someone else can relate 🙂 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Thanks Aundrey and I agree about it being something other than cupboards for me, too 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Thanks for that offer Kelly!! You know I would love a case of that if it meant that he would clean up something other than the inside of a cupboard lol!! 🙂
Cyndi says
Haha, that's too funny! My hubby would NEVER do that. When he's bored, he goes and finds a car to work on, or a house to paint or a dog to walk (generally all of our cars, houses, and dogs, lol). The inside of the house…well, it usually gets left to me and I'm often so busy working, I can barely keep up. Hehe. Funny post!
JanineHuldie says
Cyndi, I was definitely shocked, but then again he really doesn't know how to fix a car like your husband, so this was the easiest alternative for him. That said glad you enjoyed too and thanks 🙂
JanineHuldie says
Oh that is a scary thought Julie, lol!! Seriously, this truly was to too good to pass up on and I guess I am bad, because I am not done just yet and all I have to say is stay tuned 🙂 🙂
gigigirl says
Kevin got his 15 minutes of fame on your blog! Congrats! You never know when a miracle is ready to happen…..maybe you'll get more than one in your lifetime! xxoo

So true Aunt Gloria on so many different levels and thank you as always xoxo!!! 🙂 🙂
