Finally Halloween 2014…

Filed Under: BLOG, Halloween, Kids Posts Tagged With: costume(s), Emma, Halloween, Lily, Me, Memory Lane, Photos, Video

Halloween 2014 is finally here today!!!!

I would be lying if I told you I didn’t love Halloween from as far back as I can remember…

Can You Find Me?

See even in 1980 Something, I loved Halloween!

Ok, I just had to include the above photo blast from the past and wonder if you can find me in this picture above from Halloween 1980 something!!

But still I just can’t seem to ever get enough of Halloween and all that comes with it, including trick-or-treating and all the fun times even now in 2014.

That said I patiently for years waited to have kids in order to dress them up and go trick-or-treating with them (even after it was acceptable for a grown woman to love Halloween) – partly because yes I really do love it, but partly because also got a brand new excuse to get more free candy in our house.

But yet it didn’t stop me from dressing up before we had the kids for Halloween…

Halloween 2005

And yes, I totally admit here that I am the mom that sneaks the kids’ candy when they aren’t looking.

However, that said since it is indeed Halloween, a Friday (seriously can’t get a better day of the week except maybe Saturday for trick or treating) and I will most likely be out most of the day between helping to run Emma’s Halloween in class party during the day itself, as well as trick or treating after school or just having fun with Kevin (he has the day off) and the girls, too.

Canon Family Fall Festival 2014

Us this past weekend enjoying some Halloween Fall Fun at Kevin’s Work Fall Festival!!

So, I am warning you I will most likely not be responding on my blog today or the rest of the weekend, but just wanting to wish you a collective, Happy Halloween from all of us with a photo walk down Halloween memory lane from the past Halloween’s with Emma and Lily, plus I will also be re-sharing Emma’s Happy Halloween message from the other day (in case you missed it and seriously just too damn cute to me not to give her another shot at showcasing her message here!).

My son was sick last year too! Thankfully, my daughter shared her loot with her brother when we came home. I just love Halloween! I’m thankful our country caught up on this western trend because it’s so much fun! I never got to do this when I was a kid LOL Happy Halloween to you and your family!

So adorable! I’ve always wondered what my daughter would be for Halloween…but I’ll never know! When the boys were babies I dressed them as two peas in a pod – it was adorable. Now it’s all about Skylanders!

There were not as many Elsa’s as I thought there would be at the Halloween party we just went to (at the school) but there were still more of those any anything else. 😉 It’s def. all the rage this year. And I love your pics here!! They all look great, and I love the Harry Potter pic. #cool

So cute! I wonder how many Elsas will come to my door tonight? Enjoy the day with your family, Janine – and steal some good candy from the girls! It’s just what moms have to do.

The minnie mouse and pumpkin hat are just too cute for words. Love the 80’s pic. I think that picture captured the decade well. Especially the pink sunglasses.

    Janine,

Your pictures of you as a child just make me smile. They are all so cute. I can definitely tell who you are in the picture.
I also love seeing your sweet girls costumes. Are they dressing up like ELSA/Frozen this year? I am guessing this is a dumb questions.
Have a great SAFE Halloween. My son has a high school football game. Only two more and his team will be in the playoffs. They have not lost a game yet. We will have fun but be freezing. 48 degrees and extremely windy around 40.
    Blessings,
    Diane Roark

The best thing about this year is that Des is too young for much candy at all, and Scarlet isn’t really into the chocolate like I am. So I have been sneaking it! Yay!
    And great Harry Potter costumes!
Hope you are all healthy! I remember how sick Lily was last year. Man, time is passing!

How adorable!!! Lily would be SOOOOO jealous about the dress. At our house, they have to dress up as something scary for Halloween and as whatever they want for carnival. So we had a witch and a zombie bride this year (Calvin wore a doggie hat)!

  33. Amanda @ Growing Up Madison says

I hope you had an amazing Halloween. I love that pic of the family at Kevin’s work party. This is officially Madison’s 3rd Halloween and this year she actually told me who she wanted to be. She wanted to be Minnie Mouse. I didn’t go trick or treating but hubby took them and they had a blast. She came back with a bag full of candy which I now have to hide away. I still have a LOT left over from what I was handing out to the kids as well. Gotta hide it and use it as incentive treat for potty training 🙂

I just love all the photos from the past!!! You were adorable as the cheerleader (right?) I especially loved seeing your sweeties dressed up throughout the years! Lizzy had the same Cinderella and Belle costumes!!! And yes, we had an Elsa too. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous family and giving me a great smile! xox

  35. Nellie @ Brooklyn Active Mama says

    November 3, 2014 at 8:05 am

Omg they are so cute!! I think the rapunzel costume was my favorite because it doesn’t even look like a costume just a really pretty dress! 🙂 don’t worry about the cropped pic, it’s still so cute!!

  36. Michelle @ A Dish of Daily Life says

    November 3, 2014 at 7:49 am

So much cuteness here! I hope you had a wonderful Halloween! I have to say Halloween is not my favorite holiday because I am not very creative with costumes, but it is fun watching the kids. My youngest son went out as a hot dog…a costume he bought himself to ski in, and my daughter and a bunch of her friends dressed up like characters from Harry Potter. She was Hermoine. They already had the costumes, because they did it for character day at school too. Then I had like 16 kids over here spending the night watching Harry Potter movies all night. It was a long night. 🙂

I think Emma being bald for so long is so cute. Seriously, she reminds me of me! Truth be told, everyone in my family felt they knew I would have a lot of hair because I was bald for so long. They ended up being right. Did they say you looked like someone on TV when you were growing up? I can’t help but think you look like some child start from back in the day but I just can’t put my finger on it!

I gotta tell you, I love that you & your hubby went as Harry & Hermoine. A woman after my own heart. The girls costumes through the years were adorable. Emma made a beautiful Elsa.
