There truly is nothing in this world like curling up with a good book, especially on a cold winter’s night after a long day hard at work.
Recently I took to my blog to confess that I hadn’t read in some time due to blogging and designing over at J9 Designs. If you missed my venting about this, click here.
I even shared a list of books on my Kindle and iBooks accounts that I hadn’t even touched. I also shared I do a lot of blog reading, which does take away from some of my extra time that I would have to read books.
Well, during my blog reading a few bloggers I read daily have shared some of their favorite books and ones they have recently read.
In one of Kate’s recent articles over on Another Clean Slate, she talked about some of her more recent reads.
Kate shared that she had just finished reading Emma’s Secret, which was the sequel to Finding Emma, which is the story of a family with three young girls, who youngest is kidnapped at 3 years old. The book revolves around their lives after and how they went on trying to pick up the pieces, continue to look for her and move past this tragedy and heartache.
I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it or would like to read these books. You can click book images below to check them out on Amazon. By the way, I am an Amazon Affiliate, so if you click my links, I do get a small commission, if you indeed purchase and do need to disclose this here.
I have to be honest and tell you, when I read about the book from Kate’s post, something in me knew I had to read these two books, starting of course with the first in the series, Finding Emma. I am not sure if it was the fact that I am the mother two two small girls myself, but seriously had to read these.
I was lucky enough to have an Amazon gift card that I had won and purchased both books for my Kindle account.
(Slight Spoilers if you want to dread you may want to skip this paragraph). I began to read Finding Emma and couldn’t put it down. I wanted to know why this little girl was kidnapped, as well as how she would be found. It was only less then 2 days and I had finished the book. I went onto the sequel, Emma’s Secret and finished that in less a week in total from when I purchased these two books, because now I was gripped at what secrets actually where existing from the get go to have had little Emma indeed taken from her mother by the aging Dottie, as well as those right there in the very home that Emma was returned to with her biological parents.
I must admit, I feel like these books gave me back my love of reading and have decided to try to read at least one book a week now and will also try to share my reads here with you as I can.
I am just so over the moon happy that I finally got back my reading legs so to speak and don’t want to lose this momentum. It felt great to just veg out reading at night and in my spare time during my holiday weekend, too.
So, now I just have to figure out what is next on my list. I still have a lot of books in my Kindle and iBooks accounts, as well as a few more on my list that I haven’t purchased yet. I am going to decide later today and will probably start the next book tonight hopefully. And I will keep you all posted.
Also, huge thanks to all that commented on my original post with book suggestions, as well as, all the support that you gave me to indeed find and make time to read again. Seriously love all my readers and friends here on my blog for that and so much more. So again, thank you!

There's not much as great as snuggling up hours on end w/a good book. Too bad it only happens about once every five years, if that… 😉
Janine Huldie says
I know exactly what you mean Rosey and trust me I am trying better, but since I finished I have had zero hours to myself the last few nights again.

I read about two books each week. It is my runaway place after a long day of writing. I end each day running away to those wonderful images in a book, and let my mind shut down for the day.
I hope you have a great day Janine.
Janine Huldie says
Bill, I know it truly is a great place to let your mind run free after a long day and so trying now to do more of that as my time is permitting again. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your day, too!! 🙂
Rabia @TheLiebers says
My problem with reading is that I either fall asleep two pages in or i stay up all night reading and have to try to function the next day at work. I seem to be an all or nothing reader. I am hoping to get some pages turned over my Christmas break. I'll have to check out some of these suggestions.

I have that happen to me, too Rabia and sometimes I can't put the book down swear I will in 5 minutes and turn around and it is the wee hours of the night and then others I just can't go any further and are falling asleep while reading. But I am so going to try on Christmas Break to do more, as well with reading, too!! 🙂

So glad you got back to reading books. I feel so much more relaxed when I am reading a book as opposed to other blogs, the computer or magazines. There is nothing like a good book. xoxo

I do love reading! Just so happens, I have another book out you can read! Her Stories! 🙂 It is so hard to find the time to read, so I love when a book ensnares me so I have no choice but to go back at any opportunity I can!

I need to find my way there too. I've been reading "The Secret Keeper" and it's already two weeks overdue! When I love a book, I devour. Maybe there's just too much on my mind.
I would love to read both Emma books!

I am totally the same and seriously devoured both books in this series and need to find another like this now, but also might have a lot on my mind, too.

I too have been bad about reading! I used to read all the time when I was younger, like actually read real books too. Then when I fell off from reading actual books, I would at least read magazines frequently. I'm ashamed to say that I've fallen off from reading my beloved magazines lately. I really need to get back into reading, whether its a magazine, book, or electronically. The internet sucks so much of my time, that I never prioritize reading anymore. Maybe it'll be my New Year's resolution!

I'm so glad you liked the books! And going from no reading to one book a week? Impressive. You'll have to give me some recommendations at that point. You would probably like Defending Jacob and Me Before You. Also The Fault in Our Stars is sad but one of my favorites.

But definitely will look through your list more On Goodreads, too, because I know you had a few already I wanted to read on there 🙂
