Back in May 2009, I was almost 8 months pregnant with Emma (my first) and my mother and grandmother threw me a baby shower to celebrate the impending arrival of our baby girl.
I was truly overjoyed and excited. She was our first and I remembered registering at Babies R Us right after I found out we were indeed having a little girl, when I was five months pregnant. I loved the thought of being able to dress up a little girl. My first purchases were pink and my baby shower was filled with more than enough pink for the pink lover in me.
Yes, I admit that I have always been a girly girl and the thought of having a daughter was music to my ears, because now I would be allowed legally to raise a princess in the making. And of course my baby shower was filled with tons of gifts that were indeed fit for my soon-to-be little princess.
Since, i didn’t blog back when this happened and I have been sharing Flashback photos every Wednesday, I thought it was only fitting and appropriate to show pictures from this very special day for our little family.
Sit back and as always enjoy!!
I don’t think this needs much explanation, then to say that even the cake had have pink on it!!
I was so blessed that our family and friends were so very generous and I must have opened up over 100 gifts that day big and small!!
Right after my shower was over, we came home with a few close friends and family. The car was unloaded and this was what the room looked like filled with all the wonderful gifts we received. It was definitely more than packed and a bit chaotic.
With a little help from my very good friend on that same night, we put the whole nursery together and sorted through all the gifts.
So there you have it, my baby shower and nursery just waiting for Emma to make her grand entrance. Hope you enjoyed and will be back next week with more Flashback Wednesday Photos!!

Oh, wow! I love looking at pictures of baby showers. Not so much Kitchen teas and what not, but there's just something so special about baby showers. These pictures are beautiful! I can see why you wanted to show them off. Love the Winnie the Pooh pictures! 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Melanie and am with you on this one. I always loved looking at these types of pictures and honestly couldn't wait to have my own. And the Winnie the Pooh Mural was actually hand painted by Kevin for Emma when I was first pregnant 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Heather and I only had the one baby shower since my girls were only 16 months apart, but I truly had a beautiful day and loved every minute of it!! 🙂 And the girls still have that painting hanging in their room even though we painted the room pink back a few months ago. Couldn't part with it just yet, because it just holds too many memories!!
Janine Huldie says
I think you are probably right Heather and we will most likely have to keep this one for future generations. I had a hard enough time changing the back wall colors, when the girls requested pink, but this is way to special to dispose of.

I remember my baby shower and that's been 24 years ago. Time really flies! Great to meet you via the WW hop!
Janine Huldie says
This was only about 4 years ago, but you are right that time does fly, because as I write this my almost 4 year old daughter, who I was pregnant with is sitting next to me watching Disney Jr. So happy to meet you too Cathy and thanks for stopping by!! 🙂
Joan Veronica Robert says
Lovely post! I love sentiment when it's so positive! We need to share more love around in this sorry world of ours. See you soon!
Janine Huldie says
Joan thank you so very much and very happy to share this here. It was a fun and wonderful day, which I will never forget!! 🙂
The Dose of Reality says
AWWW, super sweet! My first baby was also an Emma! 🙂 Your nursery was adorable! 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much and loved the name Emma. I actually picked out her full name (Emma Grace) and Kevin got to pick out our second with Lily Ann. so we are even on the name picking!! 🙂
Kat Biggie says
I LOVE the nursery! How adorable! You did such a great job with it! I feel so badly that my son hardly got any decoration at all… I did a little better with the girls, mostly thanks to my sisters! Oh, and that giant baby corsage totally cracked me up!
Janine Huldie says
Lol, Alexa I almost forgot about that corsage until I was going through these pictures, lol!!! 🙂 But seriously, thanks to Kevin the room decor was perfect. I still am in awe at the Winnie the Pooh painting even now, because he has more artistic talent in his pinky than I do in my whole body!! 🙂
Kathy Combs says
Your nursery was adorable!! I miss those days of having a new baby with all those tiny cute clothes and baby things.

Bill says
Exciting times for sure. I love hearing about the past and important events in someone's life. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks Bill and I too live hearing about people's past events and seeing pictures, too. So I can totally agree with you on that 🙂
WhenCrazyMeetsExhaus says
We also had a Pooh theme!!! I love everything baby–keep the flashbacks coming 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Stephanie and Kevin was the one who put this theme together. I think he did a great job and my non-artistic self was thrilled at his result!! 🙂
Lanaya @ Raising Rea says
Ok … our first hiccup! I am not a fan of Winnie the Pooh. But I think you had an awesome shower. I still love you! 🙂

Janine Huldie says
Lol, Lanaya. Kevin actually came up with this one, but did like the way it came out. The only thing I would have changed was have more pink in it, but we weren't sure if and when we went back for number two if it would be another girl, so we tried to stay a bit more neutral with the theme and bedding. I love you too girlie!! xoxo
Cyndi says
WOW! What a showering of gifts for such a special momma! You are truly loved! So is Emma and Lily, too! You are so sweet and these pictures are awesome! Love them. 🙂 Tweeted this and have a wonderful Wednesday!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so very much Cyndi and seriously I do feel so loved. And my girls are truly loved by me (of course) and our whole family, too!! 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Oh I would love to see some flashback photos from you and think it is a great idea, Julie!! 🙂
Emily says
Great photos and sweet memories…nothing pink in my house as you know! 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Emily and I do know, but then again nothing blue left in our house with my two!! 🙂
Kelly @ In the Mom L says
Aw, I love pink too but no girls to shower it upon! Cute nursery 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks Kelly and god only knows how I actually got to dress up and do the pink overload of frilliness with!! But I will say this I never realized how much girls actually do whine, lol!! 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks so much Amy and it really was a great day and loved how the room turned out in the end!! 🙂
Christy Birmingham says
How cute are you! I love your look back to the baby shower 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks so much Christy and glad you enjoyed!! 🙂
Kim- One Classy Moth says
Aww, thanks for sharing! I remember how excited I was when we had a girl! Sadly, she does not let me dress her up like a princess, damn it! Turns out she has her own fashion sense- which good for her, sucks for me!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Kim and I guess I got lucky, because Emma is a girly girl through and through and all she wants to do is dress-up. If I let her she would have a million wardrobe changes a day, which is fun, but not so fun for the laundress (me!), lol!!
Roshni Aamom says
wow!! It looks like a wonderful party!! Love the Pooh picture in Emma's room!!
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks Roshni and I still love that picture, because know how much hard work and effort Kevin put into creating this one 🙂
gigigirl says
I remember it well. Thanks for the trip back in time…….Emma is our precious girl xxoo
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Aunt Gloria and she loves you a ton, too 🙂 xoxo!!

It turned out fantastic. Love all the yellow. Its wonderful to have so many close people to fill up your nursery…: ).
Janine Huldie says
So true Amy and we were very lucky indeed to have all the wonderful help. My husband deserves all the credit for the theme and paint job. He is the artist and the room turned out perfect in my eyes!! 🙂
