“You watched Ghostbusters the night before you had me.”

While shopping recently in Walmart, my older daughter stated this to me. It is a little known fact that we did view the 1984 original movie that fateful evening years back right before having her. Also, she happens to know this as we have told her this enough times over the years. So upon seeing the promotional display for the new Ghostbusters Blu-ray DVD, she happily reminded me of this.

Then, she asked if we could purchase The Ghostbusters new Blu-ray DVD extended version to have our own family Ghostbusters movie night. See The New Ghostbusters” now happens to be available on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD.

How could I resist?

I mean Ghostbusters has always had a special place in my heart not just from that evening over 7 years ago. But as a kid, my younger brother and I totally adored the original Ghostbuster movie. We must have watched that Ghostbuster movie many times over. And the newer, updated, Ghostbuster version is sure to be a classic, as well.

Plus, during this shopping trip I also actually got an idea for an upcoming holiday gift for my same darling, older daughter. See she has been asking for a mobile phone, but I have been hesitant as she is still fairly young. I happen to see the display for Walmart Family Mobile with the Ghostbusters 2016 movie being prominently advertised with it.

It turns out Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan features Unlimited Talk, Text and Data that actually includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE PLUS a FREE movie on VUDU. The free movie is a $7 value.  This plan is available for the low price of $49.88 monthly.  Walmart’s Family Mobile Plans are sure to help all #CatchMoreData.

plans-overview-2

With that extra data alone, I am pretty sure my daughter could play her favorite games, such as Minecraft with plenty of data still leftover.

plans-overview

So what mobile phone did I end up purchasing?

The Samsung Galaxy On5- $119.00

samsung-galaxy-on5

Along with it, I had to purchase the Nano Starter Kit, which was on rollback for $19.88 (from $25).  Because Family Mobile bills you later, I only had to pay $19.88 when I indeed signed up. So, my out of pocket cost was really low compared to other prepaid carriers at only $19.88 to get started.

So, as we head to Halloween, Ghostbusters (2016) is the perfect family movie night movie. Of course, I purchased the new Blu-ray extended version for this reason.

As an added bonus with our Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan purchase, we can now have at least one free movie night monthly with the FREE movie offer on VUDU, as well.

So, a total win-win.

And by the way, what movie night is complete without a fun, movie inspired treat?

While at Walmart, I not only purchased the Ghostbusters Blu-ray extended version, that has over 15 more minutes not seen in theaters plus over 3 hours of hilarious extras, but I also purchased some fun food supplies to make Ghostbuster Inspired Stay Puft Marshmallow Men snacks.

I was a big fan of the original. I’m sure the remake is good, but I haven’t seen it. Cute marshmallow man!

      October 18, 2016 at 8:55 am

Thanks Seana and like I said loved the original, but also now enjoyed the new version, too πŸ™‚

    Janine,

We always have family movie night usually on Friday nights. I am going to have to check out this movie and make your adorable ghosts buster. While I am at Walmart I need to check out a phone plan for one of my sons.

    Thanks for all the information,
    Diane

I have this thing against WalMart, but it stems from merchandising their stores. They hire some of the rudest people on the planet, and at times they have made my life miserable….so no WalMart for this boy. πŸ™‚ But I do wish you a wonderful Tuesday, as the rain falls gently to the ground in Olympia.

Thanks Bill and stay dry on this rainy Tuesday now, too!!

If only I coud separate myself from the iPhone, I might take a gamble and switch plans. That’s a good deal. But it’s hard to figure out exactly how much your plan is when your phone payment is built in. I hate that.

I didn’t know the movie was aleady out. It seems like it was just at the movie. I still want to see it but Christopher didn’t want to go see it.

    The marshamallows are adorable.

    • Janine says

      October 18, 2016 at 11:22 am

I totally get it, Kenya. I think you know how I feel about the iPhone, but I will say Samsung phones and products in general are growing on me and can see why they are a huge competitor to Apple at this point. That said, I hope you get to see the new Ghostbusters movie and try my marshmallow treats, too πŸ™‚

I’m totally making these with the kids. They love the movie although Des constantly asks me if Stay Puft is scary! Well… yes.. but delicious.

    • Janine says

On the flip side, you made my day and seriously cannot wait to see what you shared with me. And to Des, scary, but delicious indeed πŸ™‚

My kid is a marshmallow pig so this will be fun and festive to do for Halloween. Maybe go buy the DVD and make it a movie night with lights off kind of day.

Sidenote: I hated that I had to google what Ultra 4K HDR was and still got confused. Dang it, I’m turning into my mother.
