As most that visit my site know, I love to write and probably always did. I also love taking pictures and documenting as much as I can in photos so I can look back and see what we did over the course of each year.
As a a kid and even a teenager, I kept a journal where I wrote my daily happenings and even wrote some poetry. Yes, I am truly not a poet, but I tried from time to time to capture my feelings that way.
I had a lapse from writing, but since I found blogging and writing again, I found that it is truly a great way of keeping track of many of my daily happenings. This year on my blog, I even became a part of the 365 Day Photo Challenge of 1 Snap A Day, which has helped me to take pictures of the best stuff happening in my daily life. While sometimes, I have the good, the bad and the ugly happening in my home on any given day, I do try my best to focus on the positive as much as I can, as well.
As luck would have it, I recently was approached by a company that created the iPhone/iPad app called Gratitude Journey, which they describe as an all-in-one gratitude journal digital application. What I liked about this app is it was designed to increase happiness by focusing on the good in one’s life, thus trying to see the positive daily occurrences or as the company states “maintaining an attitude of gratitude”.
When actually viewing Gratitude Journey’s home page, you can see a chronological list of past entries. Each day, one is reminded to make an entry to indeed find the good in their day. An entry has a date, time, category and allows you to upload a photo.
One can also use the app to track their progress in the various categories and also view their progress as time goes by in the calendar or graph format. This app offers what is called a unique ‘gratitude gift’ pick-me-up, which allows you to set up a time to have a happy gratitude memory pop up to indeed give you a smile when you may need one.

This app really puts together the function of a journal, photos and even promoting happiness in one’s life beautifully. I found myself really enjoying the ‘Gratitude Gift’ and even looking forward to it, because for the most part the memories that I was uploading were all of my favorites, including Kevin and the girls. So to me, I loved having a ‘pick me up’ pop on my iPhone when I would least expect it. The element of surprise was definitely fun and again it was all positive in nature, so made for an upbeat unexpected occurrence.

What a great idea! I've kept a gratitude journal for a while now after being nudged by my friend (who is now a life coach!) but sometimes I forget to write in it. Ok, a lot of the time I forget to write in it. I wish I had a phone that supported apps. My phone barely supports phone calls (lol) (truth) 🙂
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Michelle and I thought this was a great idea, because sometimes we may look at all the bad that happened it a given day and this truly helps to look more on the positive. I wish you did have a phone that supported this one, because you can truly see what I was talking about. Thanks again as always 🙂

Good review, Janine! Far too technical for me, but I can where this product would be quite useful. Have a great weekend. Did you get buried in snow?
Janine Huldie says
Thanks so much Bill, we got over a foot of snow, but thankfully we didn't lose power and the sun is actually trying to peak through. So all-in-all, just looks like a winter wonderland outside. Counting my blessings (as much as I hate the cold and the snow!!).
Janine Huldie says

What a cool app and giveaway too…I've been thinking about keeping a gratitude journal of some sort — it's really a good thing to do.
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks Emily and glad you enjoyed this review. I hope you are all doing Ok with all the snow we had and am thinking of you!! 🙂
Kelly says
Aha! So you were even disciplined in highschool with a journal and writing 😉 I would always start one and then do it for about 3-5 days lol!
Janine Huldie says
Lol, Kelly you caught me. What can i say, I went to Catholic School and the nuns drilled it into me!!! Seriously, though it was my way of escaping the craziness in my teen years and truly helped when I was more than a bit overwhelmed with my feelings. And I suppose that is even how I it helps me now at this point, because when I feel a bit stressed, I write and it calms me.
Cyndi says
