*This was originally published back in 2013, but edited it and added new photos to join in this week’s FTSF for St. Patrick’s Day.
One of my all-time, favorite holidays is coming up next week. That’s right I love St. Patrick’s Day. I am only part Irish, but have loved this day since I was a little kid. I am a huge fan of Shamrocks, love corned beef, Irish Soda Bread and pretty much just always found this holiday to be so much fun.
And, then I met Kevin. He is 100% Irish and his family celebrate this day like no other. My mother-in-law goes all out. She even does her own Irish Soda Bread and never fails sends us home with our very own each year.
So, it would stand to reason that I would dress my girls up for this day. Each year I break out their best green and deck them out. And for this reason, I thought it was only fitting and appropriate to share pictures from each of their St. Patrick’s Days.
So sit back and enjoy the ride!!
The above was Emma’s very first St. Patrick’s Day and she truly was our little green Elf that day!!
And these three pictures were taken from Emma’s 2nd St. Patricks’s Day and Lily’s 1st. The girls were yet again dressed in their finest green and hamming it up for the camera!!
The above collage is from St. Patrick’s Day 2012 and cannot believe that was over three years ago already.
Below is St. Patrick’s Day 2013, where the girls were finally old enough to truly get excited for the big, green day!!
And, below was finally last St. Patrick’s Day where my girls and our whole family got in on the St. Patrick’s Day celebrating action!
Happy almost St. Patrick’s Day, too!! For more on St. Patrick’s Day recipes that I have shared, click here.

awesome! one of these days I'll actually get over to Ireland to visit my friends who live there – and maybe I'll plan it for March 17th – I wonder if the celebrations are any different over there. π
Janine Huldie says
Oh I am so not sure, but would love to go and find out, too Lori. Ireland is definitely on the good old bucket list!! π
Robin Rue says
Oh, too cute. They grow up so fast, don't they?
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Robin and so true. When I look at these photos, I realize just how fast!!

Aww Love seeing all the pics of the girls in their green!! Funny that I am 100% irish and love St. Patty's day but I am not a fan of IRISH FOOD! I like potatoes but that's about it. When I was in Dublin I didn't eat much!!!! I drank a lot of beer but barely ate the food!!!! Ha. Some irish woman I am…. I can't wait to see the girls shirts!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Erin and must say I am a huge fan of Irish Food, but could live without cabbage. Kevin's mom makes Red Cabbage and so not my thing, so can relate on that food. Cannot wait to post pictures of this years St. Patrick's Day outfits and promise to share (probably on 1 Snap a Day!!).

Emily says
Such cute photos and even though I'm not Irish, everyone thinks I am because with my freckles and blue eyes, I fool everyone. I do love the traditional food for St. Patty's Day too! Looking forward to seeing Emma and Lily's outfits for this year!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Emily and that is so awesome that you do fool everyone and makes me chuckle a bit π And I do promise to post pics of the girls dressed up on St. Patty's Day!! π
Stacy Harris says
I was looking at the festive shirts just the other day…. I really want to get the one that says… This is my lucky shirt. I think they are funny and I love picking out the corniest shirt I can find. Sadly though… I am only like 1/100 Irish…. or something like that. But we still have fun with it! π
Stephanie says
I've never really celebrated St. Patrick's Day, although I'm always down with the green beer, but looking at these pictures makes me want to paste shamrocks all over my kids. ADORABLE!!!!
Janine Huldie says
Stephanie, it truly makes it that much more fun and seriously love dressing them up. And shamrocks are truly my favorite!! π
Ruchira says
wow…your girls look precious in those green shirts. I used to dress up my boy when an infant/toddler…precious days, indeed.
voted for you π
Janine Huldie says
Totally precious days Ruchira and agree with you on that. Thanks again for the votes!! π
Janine Huldie says
Oh I love those shirts Stacy and will say that I even own three of them myself. And I totally agree that you don't have to be Irish to have with this day As my mother-in-law says, "Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!!"
Lanaya @ Raising Rea says
St Patrick's Day is super fun! I hope that one day I'll be in Chicago for the parade and to see the green river! That would be awesome.
I love the girls outfits! I need to figure out what Rey is going to wear this Sunday… Hmmm…..

More Than Mommies says
Green is my FAVORITE color . . . so, I celebrate St. Patrick's Day for that – oh, and like Stephanie, for the GREEN BEER! π
Janene
Janine Huldie says
Lol, Janene, now you sound like Kevin. That and Guiness, which he promises will be drank again the St. Patrick's Day π π
Lisa Newlin says
Despite my best efforts, each year I end up wearing the same thing on St. Patrick's Day. Here's the rundown: Random beads I earned at a parade that day, but don't know how, approximately 2.4 cans of spilled beer, collected in my clothing (assorted varieties of beer), glitter (no clue how that gets there), and my self pride.
I realize that last part doesn't make any sense, but I find that I tend to be proud of my accomplishments no matter what they are. On St. Patty's Day, I'd say the accomplishment is making it through the day without puking on myself (or anyone else).
Janine Huldie says
Lol, good motto and definitely like the self pride, Lisa!! But seriously, sounds like a fun day indeed for you, too π
Janine Huldie says
Wow, that is very interesting about your great grandmother being born on St. Patrick's Day, Melissa. I just have always loved the day though and promise to share this years pictures of the girls in their matching shirts with all π
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Melanie and can't imagine not celebrating. I guess once you have celebrated (and if you love it like I do), you can never go back, lol π

Your girls are adorable! I am also from an Irish Catholic family, and although we always recognize the day, we've never celebrated hugely… although I did get shirts for my kids this year!
Janine Huldie says
Thanks Alexa and funny but I am Irish and Italian and we always made a big deal out of this day in my family. Then I met Kevin and his mom goes to town on St. Patrick's Day with the whole authentic meal right down to the homemade Irish Soda Bread with Caraway Seeds and all. Can't wait to see if you post pictures of your kids int heir shirts!! π
Katy @ Experienced Bad Mom says
Love the cute green Hello Kitty tshirts! What did we ever do back in the day without cute holiday shirts to wear?! We’re not Irish so we usually skip the shirts for this one, but I love getting Halloween t’s every year.
Janine says
Katy, I love the Halloween t-shirts, too π
Allie @ The Latchkey Mom says
Oh my Goad Janine, the pictures are precious!!!! I swear, I dressed my kids up, too. Why, oh why, did I not take pictures? I don’t’ understand!!!!

Kenya G. Johnson says
Love those ponytails! I know I’ve said that before. Those pictures are adorable. So I imagine that you have outfits already for them this year. I would have sworn that last picture of them was current, so I can’t imagine how much more mature they look. I hope you’ll share the new one next week.
Janine says
Kenya, I do have new shirts for them this year and since last year they grew out bangs and grew a bit, but otherwise same two crazy little girls as ever!! π
Kristi Campbell says
They are so cute, Janine and I love all of their adorable green outfits! I hope your St. Patty’s day this year is wonderful and mmmm to Irish soda bread!
Janine says
Thanks so much Kristi and I was so happy that I could link up this week with you all. And if I could would so send you a piece of Irish soda bread, too π
Kelly L McKenzie says
Aw. Such cute photos of your girls! Love how you dress them in green, too. And Irish Soda bread? Yum. I must pull out my recipe for that. Love how you don’t have to let the dough rise – at least with my recipe you don’t. Best kind of bread to make! Hope you have a very happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Janine says
Kelly, your recipe sounds great and hope you enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day, too π
Anna Fitfunner says
What adorable pictures! It’s great that your family has such a fun time on this holiday and that you’re building wonderful memories with your little girls. I admit that I have a weakness for Irish Soda Bread, although I don’t make it very often. Great to see you back here on FTSF!!
Janine says
Thanks Anna and it was truly great to be back!! π
