How To Choose The Right Wine As A Gift For Anybody

Filed Under: Gift Ideas, holiday gift ideas Tagged With: Wine Gift Advice, Wine Tips

As the holidays approach, there will be the inevitable mad dash to make sure everybody on your list gets their gift. At times, the idea of getting them the perfect gift flies out the window and you settle for anything. Yet, there is a gift that is perfect and is as easy to get as anything. Wine makes the ideal gift and since you are already going to be shopping for some for your holiday table then you can kill two birds with one stone.

How to pick the perfect wine as a gift though? This takes a little more nuanced than just grabbing anything off of the shelf. In this article, we will go over what it takes to match a bottle of wine with the recipient.

Wine As A Gift Tips

Go with their heritage

Many people have some sort of ethnicity that links them to the old country where their family came from. This usually leads to an affinity for anything having to do with their roots. So, if they are Italian, then getting them an Italian wine is ideal. You may even be able to find a wine from the village where their grandfather came from which adds a lot of meaning and sentiment to the gift.

Just about every country a person has ties to will probably have wine production and availability. Even Morocco has some wineries so your North African friend might enjoy a bottle of wine from that area. You can choose some by going to dunewines.com.

The idea of giving the wine based on their ethnicity will show a level of thoughtfulness that doesn’t usually happen when getting a gift of wine.

Match their personality

Some wineries can really have a lot of fun with naming their wine lineup and by choosing quirky artwork for the labels. This adds a bit of comedy to the wine world which is usually stuffy and snobby but doesn’t mean that the wine behind the bottle is not to be taken seriously.

You can get an exquisite bottle of wine that can be playful and will be a good match for your friend’s unique sense of humor. They’ll get a laugh out of the idea but will appreciate the wine itself when the time comes to open it up.

Go with sparkling

A bit of bubbly is always a great idea because it invokes a spirit of celebration. With New Year’s Eve right around the corner after Christmas, it makes an ideal Christmas gift that you know will be useful.

There are so many different kinds that you are sure to find the right kind for your friend’s tastes. For instance, a classic Champagne is elegant and has a touch of class for your high-class friend. A prosecco is a lot less serious but really drinkable and goes with a lot of appetizer foods for a way to start dinner. Then there are countless other sparkling wines that range from sweet to bine dry so if you know their preference you can find the right fit.
