How to Have a Stress-Free Moving Experience with Kids

Filed Under: BLOG, Moving Tips Tagged With: Moving tips, Moving tips for parents

Is there such a thing as a stress-free moving experience when you’ve added children to the equation? There can be! Keep a list on the fridge of all the things to accomplish leading up to your official move-in day that you can refer to frequently and you’ll have a better chance of staying organized and avoiding stressful situations.

Moving Tips for Parents

Downsize & declutter

The first task on your list should be to declutter. Trying to reorganize your home when you’re in the midst of relocating can seem like one more thing you have to keep in mind, but these tips will help you stay clutter free from the start.. Mentally and physically! Decluttering your home should be your first step to prepare for a move whether you’re moving locally or across the country.

Get your kids involved in the decluttering if they’re old enough to help. Encourage them to pick a handful of items that they’d like to donate to other children who need toys. Give them a cardboard moving box with supplies to decorate it, and introduce the experience with excitement. Downsizing and decluttering before you move means there are fewer things to keep track of, to need to pack and to transport.

Get needed materials from one place

I have a weird love for home improvement stores. I mean between the endless DIY ideas and hopeful possibilities of a better-looking home (if you’re better at DIY activities than me), who wouldn’t love them! Moving everything you own from one place to another requires a lot of materials. Boxes, tape, scissors, markers, bubble wrap, and so many other small things you don’t even think about. Lucky for us, home improvement stores typically have an entire aisle dedicated to materials for moving so that you don’t have to think too hard about what you are missing. Avoid taking multiple trips and spending the excess time to get the materials you forgot, and visit a home improvement store to get everything you need on the first trip. The good thing about it? This one trip will save you so much time and effort – and that’s essential with children!

Leave it to the professionals

Once you’ve decluttered you’re ready to find yourself a reputable moving company. Packing the car with the essentials, your kids, and your pets will be hard enough, so be ready to accept help. Don’t go with any moving company.. They’re not all the same. You want a 5-star company like Bluebell Relocation Services. You can even get a free quote on their website after filling out their short questionnaire. They’ll take care of the packing, heavy lifting, and loading so you can keep up with the kids!

Don’t skimp on movers thinking that they’re an added cost. Do you have time to research interstate moving regulations? No way! Let the professionals at Bluebell Relocation Services cross that off of your to-do list. Plus, their years of experience with professional and personal moves has helped them to build a number of moving packages to meet your unique needs. They even have coupons available on their website. Do you need interstate movers in New Jersey? They can help.

This isn’t all to say that things will go on without a single hitch, but keeping yourself organized during a move is so important. Not only will you be able to keep track of all of your things, but you’ll be able to easily direct your movers. Focus on the excitement of the journey ahead and leave the moving stress to the professionals at Bluebell Relocation Services.
