Back at Saturday again folks. Seems like I blinked on Monday and somehow here we are! Great week behind us, but now it is time for another weekend.
A few of my blogging friends have started up a new blog hop, called Ten Things of Thankful. Since I loved the concept and also cherish their friendships, I wanted to add my ten thankful things here to linkup.
1. My Husband–If you read my post yesterday, here know he was the best turning point I ever could have imagined.
2. My Beautiful Little Girls–Being a mother to them has truly been better then I ever could have dreamed.
3. My Mom and Dad–Who have always been there for me.
4. My Younger Brother–Who is one of the kindest, most generous person I know.
5. My Writing–Finding my way back to it after so many years, just such a blessing.
6. My Home–My parents were gracious enough to provide us with a roof over our heads while we saved for our first house purchase.
7. For a Quiet Week–All ending well even after my crazy week last week. I even got the check already to pay for the car damages that weren’t my fault.
8. My Love of Reading–Because of this my imagination has been able to take me to places I could only dream of.
9. Summer–I love this time of year and for the warmer weather starting to become a reality rather then a distant memory.
10. My Blogging/Writing Friends–Who make my day that much brighter and who inspire me on a daily basis.
Now onto my regularly scheduled life. Last weekend, we had dance, dance and more dance. The girls not only had their regular dance class, but they also had their rehearsal for their recital which is this Sunday at 6 PM.
Emma was so very excited. This was her second year in the show and she was a pro by all means. She told me, “I will be over there with my friends” and the next thing I knew she was on the stage dancing and doing the hula to her heart’s content.
Lily, on the other hand, is dancing in her very first recital. Seriously, what a difference a year makes and so remember how shy Emma was last year in the show. Well, looks like it is Lily’s turn this year. Because she got on the stage and just stood there in the middle of the stage like a deer caught in headlights. She didn’t cry or get upset, she just was a bit shell shocked. The little girl next to her grabbed her hand trying to dance with Lily. Well, Lily held her hand, but the look she gave her was priceless and it was as if she was saying, “Why are you holding my hand!!”
From the Rehearsal A Few Of My Favorite Pictures!!Seriously, Kevin and I couldn’t help, but laugh at this one. When we asked her why she stood there, Lily answered, “I got to keep dancing!”
Kevin told her in his best South Park impersonation (by the way they don’t watch this show and we haven’t in years, but still couldn’t help himself), “For my tree fiddy, you need to move a bit and not just stand there!!”
So, I decided to play the song more for her (again not this type of stage mother, but her constant repeating of “I got to keep dancing” made me feel I should practice a bit with her). Now she asks for this song constantly on iTunes and sings and dances her heart’s content out to Rosemary Clooney’s, “Me and My Teddy Bear.
Time will see on Sunday what we will get though. But either way, she is too cute in her glitter-tastic (yes it is pink, but the glitter is still everywhere days later) costume and just seeing my girls up there puts a smile on my face!!
So wish us luck and now onto this week’s recap for those who are catching up or missed a moment of it and some exciting offers, as well!!

I love your Ten Things of Thankful. Your family sound like an amazing bunch of people. I'm glad you managed a quiet week, even if it zipped by. And Me and My Teddy Bear was a stalwart feature of my childhood. It's an amazing song and I'm SO glad to hear that it is continuing to be loved by the next generation.

Oh thank you again for hosting and was so happy to be able to join in and linkup. Thank also for your kind words about my family. I honestly am blessed to have them and can't say that enough. And I will be honest, I never hear of ME and My Teddy Bear until her dance class, but it is such an adorable song and she looks so cute doing it, too. Thanks so much again!! π π
Karen says
OMG…the cuteness of the recitals…how great, they look so proud! Did you ever hear back from the lady you hit your car? You need that money, (HUGS). How is your dad?
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks so much Karen. I actually got lucky and got the check in the mail this week. Was able to pay the credit card that I put it on. And I spoke to the one daughter of the woman and she was in the hospital with her other daughter right after this (she didn't have her phone during all that). But thankfully it all ended well. And my dad did is on the mend, but he did have a mini stroke and is under doctor's care. Thank you for asking and your concern. Truly appreciate it!!! π π

hey! Janine! (damn I love getting the first Comment in… not that *that* happens very often, 'specially over here where the line usually goes out the door, down the sidewalk, past the newsstand (where at least you can read magazines as you wait for the line to move) and around the corner (where it always feels awkward to stand, cause the endpoint is not in sight and it looks like you're just hanging out on a sidewalk)
damn… better just say something quick before someone beats me to 'First Comment'
hey great Post for the 10 thanks hop! (trying to be a co-host. totally botching *that* up how the hell do you do it with the FTSF and the J9 and everything else?

Clark, you just put such a smile on my face with your comment. Seriously, thank you for just always being so kind and you. And congrats on the co-hosting gig and so very happy to be able to link-up with all of you π π

Love your thankful list. I, too, have an Emma, and she is a dancer as well. She started when she was 5 (never did the stage fright thing, though) and is 14 now and a beautiful dancer. So, here's to many more years of dance classes and recitals and costumes and dance shoes (I won't even get INTO the competition stuff!).
My recent post I'm Thankful And It Isn't Even Thanksgiving!
Janine Huldie says
Oh thanks Dyanne. My niece is actually on the competition team at the same dance school and can't believe how many costumes and such she has. Just crazy, but both my girls do seem to enjoy it and I guess that is all that matter!! π π
christine says
I always love recital photos. The kids are always so stinkin' cute in their costumes. I could never be a "dance mom", though. All that glitter and pink and tutu doesn't mesh with my tomboy self. π Fortunately, my daughter never wanted to dance. Probably because she knew she'd be a hot mess with a mom who can't do "pretty".
Thanks for linking up with us today! All this positive reading makes the day so bright.
Janine Huldie says
First off, totally my pleasure linking up and so happy you are co-hosting!!! Second, I am girly-girl from way back, but even I was overwhelmed with the amount of glitter coming of my younger daughter's costume. I am still finding it int he back of my car. If I dress her before the show tomorrow, definitely am putting a towel down in her car set under her after what I saw from last weekend. But as much of a girly-girl as I am I do not picture myself being a "dance mom" either with the makeup, hair and such. Thanks again Christine and totally hope you are having a great weekend!! π

Hi Janine, I had your blog up on my laptop when my husband came by and said, "That is a beautiful blog." He was pointing to your daughters and their t-shirts because he is a big Mets fan. We hope to have a kid sporting a Mets shirt one of these days. Thank you for this round-up and sharing with us, your readers.

Oh Catherine, we are huge Mets Fans, too and I actually found those t-shirts at Old Navy, they have glitter on them and all. My nephew's first birthday was a baseball themed one, so those shirts worked perfectly!! Oh my pleasure in sharing and I honestly am hoping and praying for you to be able to have that little bundle of joy very soon to wear his or hers first Met's Jersey real soon!!! π π
